Thread: In-Concept Open Discussion (Week Ending 5-3-04)
have you considered the impact on the economy when people stop hologrinding? I think few resources will be used and the supply demand coefficient will get out of whack. but at the same time other scarcities still require a lot of cash. I think it will increase the disparity of wealth.
I like the factional bounties - and I see a few back and forths on this thread. here's a little flavor: why not have individuals be able to finance these bounties. but only half the $ or so goes to the hunter - the rest gets pulled out of the economy as a fee. and the bounty is placed on the factional players that has killed the most enemies that week. so you are merely a financial supporter of the cause - but you do not get to specify, or even know, who the target is.
I like most of the auction (remove cap) ideas - having echoed them myself at times.
one thing I really like about games was finding that cool little village where unique items were only to be found. perhaps we can create that. like the Jawa trading POI - maybe have all hi-end stuff sold there and there alone. or hi end armor is sold there, and hi end melee are sold somewhere else. a side affect will be people moving outside of the 2 major cities. maybe it's on the junk dealers that you do this - so you have to find the right one.

For the In-Concept threads you see in this forum, please stay on topic in the specific threads so we can get focused feedback; consider them "Focus Threads". If you have general questions about the process, new concepts or other types of comments, pleasepost themin this thread.

The Empire, instead of doing nothing about the 15 Stormtroopers killed in Kaadara, posts a bounty on the head of the murderer. Or, instead of doing this, make the murdering Rebel kill on sight to all other Imperial Crackdown Stormtoopers until he/she is killed by them.I believe my idea is a good one. Anybody else? This is a great idea. I'll share it with the team. Everyone reads the weekly dev cycle threads, but I'll send this around for a second look.

2.) Could we please make empty vendors not show up on the planetary map? I think if a vendor does not have 5 or more items (or even just 1) in it, it should not show up on the planetary map. There are few things more frustrating than travelling all over the planet only to find at least 50% of the vendors completely devoid of any items for sale. Removing empty vendors from the planetary map would a.) compel merchants to stock more often b.) relieve the stress on consumers looking for stocked vendors.
Yes, I had some discussions with Runsabre about that last week.I like those 2 ideas
Better Yet I have always thought vendors should work more like the Bazaar, you go to any vendor look for what you want, and then you decide if you want to make the trip or buy one closer for a little more. I think this would help the economy for normal players too, Some vendors have things at outrageous prices while others are way under priced. I think the vendor owner should have the choice to do this and have to pay a little extra, or maybe make Merchant guild type groups that could be linked, and then when you look up a vendor, you could see who they are affilitated with and make better selections. Also I think this would create healthy competition among Merchants.
TH,
I have an idea about turrets and vuln times. This idea has been around on the boards for my server. I suggest you make turrets invuln during non-vuln times and vuln only on base vuln times. Currently, turrets can be destoryed 24/7. This causes main loss of faction due to turret destruction. Hear me out, turrets cost alot of fp but so do bases. Bases can only be destoryed between two hours every day. Turrets can be destoryed any time. It would mean that you would spend the majority of fp on turrets then bases over a long span of time. It shouldnt be like how it is currently
I had decided to take a change of pace since today I experienced the armor hole bug again. Yeah, the one that SOE fixed.
A group of only medium size hit our city and totally annihilated our 4 turrets in no time, along with all the faction NPCs guarding the base. I pulled my AT-ST as a last ditch effort to hold them off until help could arrive....and it was dead in under 60 seconds. Under 1 minute to take out the biggest, baddest pet anyone can own. That further proved to me how unbalanced things are, and how much work this game really needs.
The devs "fix" things that are still broken after they "fix" them.....they waste their time putting in things that they yank a day or two later. My god, USE test center and don't put this crap on the servers just to yank it.
I just cancelled my account. If they can't even take the time to post on this forum once a day to answer us...and discuss things, I see no reason to pay them for only putting forth minimal effort. (Yes, that's what this thread is for, answering us and discussing things)
Not enough fixes in almost a year.
Hey TH how about you and/or the dev for smuggler coming to the smuggler forum and actually atlking to us a bit?????? Seeing as we are just thrown in with the Jedi revamp. Yor little note in 19 answers hasn't done anything to help quell the smugglers fears that our revamp will bite so bloody hard it's not even funny anymore!!!!
So TH how about it ? care to talk to use smugglers ? or are you and the devs just going to shove more bull crap at us !!!

OK if i wanted to play a game where I got to be like Luke, Han, or Liea what would it be like.
I along with rebels woud be able to capture imperials base, ot just destroy them. then i would have to defend them.
I would have droids that acutally enhanced things not just equal them.
a survey droid would tell me at least more than myhand held survay tools not less.
most armor and active armor would be plastics and electroncis, so where is the chemist.
I know its difficult to progam all this stuff, but i'm a project mgr / mechanical eng. in telcom a few guys that i work with and i are tempeted to write our own game, you have missed so much.
have all your people watch the starwars movies, and played other games, It doesn't reflect that in your development.
I really feel that there is to much incestual idea homoginization, time to move these people to another project and bring in a fresh team, that would be willing to do what these guys won't.
Make a game that is like star wars people love to play.
we have a list of over 100 enhancements, that are relitivly easy to implement for the most part, but why should we do your job for free.
I just wish SOE had wanted to do somthing great not just statis-quo.
You know who to find me.
/cheer mastertruth
come on SOE that other guy was also right (sorry can't remember your name, sorry)
get someone to take 20mins a day at least to visit this thread and reply or at least acknowledge or ideas/suggestions
I hate to say it, but I think you're way off base here. It's way to easy to be critical of a project of this magnitude. Simply copping out, and stating that "I'm thinking of creating my own game" is a bit far-fetched, and pretty much down right ludicrous. Being a project manager yourself, I think you might be able to realize the magnitude of the pile of work these guys have stacking up. Not only are they trying to continuously develop new content, but they're trying to improve upon an existing system that has extraordinary levels of complexity. Bringing in a fresh team is the LAST thing you would want to see happen.
If you're feeling a lack of "Star Wars-iness" in the game, its probably more reflective of your style of play than anything. If you're looking for a heavily scripted game, then you're definitely in the wrong place. This is a ROLE PLAYING GAME. You, the player, are largely responsible for your own "story line". This is meant to be a very creative medium. The devs primary job is to just sorta nudge it along once in a while, not force players to become wrapped up in outlandishLuke Skywalker-esk quests day in and day out (although you can certainly do that if you choose to).
Bottom line is this:quit flaming the devs withoverly generalized statements like "make a game that is like star wars people love to play". That does noone any good. That goes for everyone
.
Ok sorry to take up room, but that one just kinda irked me.
just wanted to throw this idea in the ring ![]()
i think it would be cool if you could decorate your starship when the expantion comes out, in a way simelar to decorating a house.
