What we need here is an armorsmith's data on their best comp armor and best wookiee armor put side by side and compared. Then we could see how the encumberances stack up. After that we would have to see how the armor holes in a good steady amount of combat to compare just how much more advantage the extra coverage of the comp armor has. From there, we can scientifically figure out if we are getting bent over with this update on encumberance or not.
Either way doesn't matter too much to me. It is better than the ceremonial armor (which I rarely wore), which was better than the wookiee smock, which means despite the encumberance issues, it could very well pull my furry butt out of a sling when needed!
What we are truly arguing here is if we feel it is fair or not. I feel it is fair, you don't. And unless there is scientific evidnece to the contrary of either of us, then I guess we are both left with our arguments on the matter. Personally, I would rather deal with the little extra encumberance than have to deal with the Wookiees are too powerful whines while we get owned in PvP...lol.
Happy trails my wookiee brother, and best of luck to you in your fight to lower the encumberance a bit. I know I won't complain if it happens.
Just so you know, I like things difficult for the purpose of the challenge. If I didn't, I wouldn't be an Imperial Colonel as a wookiee...lol.

I just got done with my test on these armor pieces, I took 5 or so screenshots detailing where I got hit through my armor. These were against huurtons. But, before I upload the screenshots (if people want to see them), here is my data:

Test: Full set of wookie hunting armor.
Critter: Huurton Huntress (About 5 of them at once)
Battle time: About 2 minutes
Total Hits: ~30-40 or so, guessing from the screenshots
Total Hits through armor: 5.

On the lower end of that scale, one can conclude up to 1/6th of my hits take place outside my armor protection range. On the higher end, it's around 1/8th. Note I didn't compute this exactly, but using rough estimates works well.

As far as the encumb, I don't really agree with it since we aren't fully protected. There is a known 'cheat' so to speak, where people wearing composite can omit parts of their suit to cover all regions. IIRC, you need gloves, helmet, chest, and boots. I believe with that setup, or something really close to it, you can omit damage to the other areas because of the way damage is distributed on armor. I will see about getting the exact setup for us to view.

Considering we take extra damage, overall, regardless of the armor - I must say that any encumb increase is a bad idea because we are still taking extra damage to those areas from unprotection. If the devs protect those areas as well, then I agree with the encumb increase. As it stands right now, I don't agree with this part of the patch.

So how is it that this does not hurt "immersion" now but it did several months ago when shuttle times were reduced? What has changed?

If immersion is a code word for boredom, the change will definitely hurt it.

I wonder if the developers will consider these things.

Decreased Starport times - gee, why don't we just add point to point teleportation into the game now, and we can explain it away as a massive physical disturbance in the Force!

I suppose this makes a lot of people happy...but I'd love to see your guy's plan for making Starship travel more desirable than the public transports if we're able to move around even more quickly on them! Smuggling (and I'm not a smuggler, never have been, just talking from a fictional POV) depends greatly on the difficulty in getting from point A to point B.

One change for good sometimes has repercussions down the line!

*Stuffs Jefmes in a closet* shhhh. Guess what? Not all of us, and as you can see MOST of us hate wasting IRL time standing in one spot in the game for 10 minutes. Sorry it ruins your immersion...but think about this...It's the future...Starports are very busy...You honestly think people in this Fiction stand around waiting for shuttles for 10 minutes...that one arrives only every 10 minutes...they can travel at lightspeed and beyond...but are not able to come up with a faster service??...your logic is flawed...anyways Great job on this part Devs. Keep listening to US and the game gets better and better.

Decreased Starport times to 5 minutes?!?!

The devs have really messed up now.

Anyone who is happy about the 5 minute starport time really has no vision of the future at all. With 5 minute starport times, why will anyone charter a flight on a player-owned JTL ship? With 5 minute starport times, why will anyone ever use a shuttleport again? What happens when the devs implement their "faction dependent" starport times with the GCW revamp? When this new "faction dependent" starport system is implemented and starport times go back up above 5 minutes, there is going to be a serious backlash from the gamers.

I think the devs just dug themselves a grave with this change. Lets see how long it takes them to fall in it.

JustG, the list of 9.3 changes you've offered in this threaddiffers from the list of changes currently (2004/08/10, 11:47 AM PST) shown in the "Recent Updates" list for Publish 9 and its mini-publishes.

Any chance of getting one or both of these lists updated?

Thanks!
