- No. The only method that would even seem to allow this is lottery, but lottery requires you to be within 20 meters of the kill, otherwise your lottery window auto-closes and you’re marked as having passed on the item.
- By default the loot master changes back to the group leader.
- Uh…no. See answer to number one.
20 Meters? I'm hoping thats just an example and that the real number is more like 100...
Why? Take me.. I'm Krayt hunting with my Guild.. I' a pistoleer/smuggler.. think I'm getting within 20 meters of that dragon when I can shoot from 50? AoE attacks don't like me, I'll let the Melee Folks stay closer, while I shooot from a bit further away.
I agree... what ranged profession will be within 20m for most kills? I'd say 100m would be more feasible and fair.

There is a 30 second timer (mentioned on the defination page), but as I read Tiggs post if you are outside the 20m range, your accept/decline window for lottery auto-closes as if you had declined. Once your choice (decline) is entered, you can't reopen and window and change it, so you are SOL if you are 20m from the corpse.

20 meters? Could we at least get this to within attacking range? When hunting Krayts, as a SL/Rifleman I'm rarely closer then 50m (unless the Krayt decides to charge me), and when it dies I can guarentee I'm no where near 20m when someone clicks "loot".
Most likely there will be a lottery timer, allowing everyone to get within the 20 meter radius. If there isnt a timer, implementing one would be a good idea

This will not work. Ideal range for rifles/carbines is, in almost every situation, greater than 20 meters. Forcing ranged professions to fight way outside their ideal range simply so they can have a chance to get the loot is not good.

this is awesome..
A couple of suggestions.
Lottery should be the default group loot settingunless changed by the group leader.. this is the fairest setting of all 3..
There should be an option for players to default to "bid for all" on all every loot event, without having to click on it each time.
wow this game is definately starting to turn around IMHO..
first a removal of TEF (which hopefully leads to a better system ,please see http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=GCW&message.id=303170#M303170formore ideas.
then the next patch which essentially beefs up the entire game as far as inventory goes..
and finally the base mechanics of the GCW getting a tweak (although IMHO the system will eventually need to be completely redone to get it right)

so ranged players can't take part in the lottery? Unless they attack from less than ideal range?

Someone mentioned the 30 sec timer...from whatI gatherfrom the Group Looting document and Tiggs post, you will only get this notification if you are within the 20 meters, and then you will have 30 secs to click the item. You will not get the loot window if you are not a valid recipient of the loot (out of range), otherwise every player in the group, regardless of where they are, would be seeing this loot window spam, but would be unable to claim any of the items.
I'd also like to point a scenario where there are multiple MOBs being looted. Lets say you have one tank and 5 ranged professions taking on10 NPCs. The NPCs die, one by one, and the tank loots as they die. Well 30 seconds is going to pass while the otherNPC's are being attacked... Even if we assume the 20 meter range will be extended (which I'm sure it will), is everyone going to be spammed with loot windows while in combat? One solution to this would be to havethe "/group options" command (I assume that's coming back for this?) work for everyone in the group, and have an option in that window toallow a player to "auto bid" for all loot while the lottery is on.

Its generally good.
The designated looter never worked before hope it comes into play now.
The real problem with looting though is its inbalanced. In that there is just not enough to go around. I remember going on five krayt hunts and haveing gotten only one item. It was not due to ninja looting though. The loot was just to rare. So once I finally was able to loot one thing. I had to keep it. I felt terribly selfish, but with such a low success rate on some spawns. It usually leads to people getting no loot at all, or so little loot as to be worthless.
Have you guys thought about increaseing loot drops in the system example group loot bonus. Where if there are twenty people takeing a mob down. That there will generally be more loot to go around. Right now if you can take down a lootable creature solo. Then odds are you want to seeing. That its a surer way to get loot.
Another problem is that some mobs decay relatively quickly. Ergo your in the middle of a fight with a huge mob, and its takeing all your concentration to fight. While your doing this sometimes the creatures disolve before you get a chance to loot them. Are you thinking about increaseing the decay timer somewhat so that players will not be so pushed to loot in the middle of a fight instead of after it.

This is awesome, I like this feature in EQ2, and the other thing I would add is the locked combat.
I would also like to see the group distance be within 100m at least, this would give just about any one in the area a chance, because most of the time it is the tank that goes to loot and the rifleman is at his distance of 60m, and he still looses out of the loot.

Hello Folks!
It has certainly been a Wacky Wednesday! As if you didn't have enough to read already I am going to toss one more thing at you today. Back in November a focus thread was created asking your opinions for group looting and how it should work. Based upon your feedback we have incorporated some of these changes and you should see them on Test Center in the near future.
Click here for more information on the Group Looting.

There is something about this reply that I don't understand. You say that only the lottery "would even seem" to allow distant loot depositing. But surely the designated Master Looter would also seem to offer that opportunity. What happens if the Master Looter is somewhere else?
You've explicitly said that the lottery recipients need to be 20m from the kill. Does the Master Looter also need to be within 20m of the kill? If so, what happens to the loot if the Master Looter is farther away? Does it vanish?

20m!? That's way to short...with a melee tnaking, most ranged wont be in that range..thus woul be excluded...and what about when the target runs and a ranged gets the kill while it is too far away from a melee? That range needs to be higher.

What about giving the MASTER LOOTER the ability to drag the item onto another group member and drop it that way they could always maintain a usable inventory and distribute easily. Someway to expeditiously handle the loot is necesary in my view.
Thanks for the upgrades :-) they will help me feel comfortable grouping with players I meet.
