I'd be disapointed to start on a _new_ server to find Advanced characters setting up shops, trade routes and faction strengths before anyone else can. I can see no advantage other than to give a opportune few the chance to sweep everything up and sneer "Mine!".
It's depressing to see how MMORPGs can mirror reality sometimes ;/
But it won't happen anyway, so no problem :}

Anyone else see how much they care about the European Servers? Not one reply to this thread.
Im not surprised there hasnt been much response to the European Servers the gap between the American release and the proposed European release showed this sadly.

shug_ninx dont be worried when your sales in europe aren't as good as you anticipated
most europeans, like me, already bought the game and are playing on the US servers
make sure you got atleast 5 servers up at the start cause all europeans will hop onto them
I want to hop onto them now. I really would like to see some kind of response in this thread, im sure we all would like to know when the servers will go live and how many there will be. I dont care about transfers, im just eager to start afresh on a new (and populated) server.

Several shops in the town where I live are stocked with import copies of the game. Its a shame people who buy those will have to start on the US servers, but then thats the price to pay for buying an import I guess. 
I know a lot of people who are specificaly waiting for the euro servers to arrive to play because they want decent pings . Stupid i know but they seem to think a ping of 40 and not 150-200 will actually help them.
I must admit im only playing on eclipse atm to practice for the euro release . Most seriuose on line gamers dont have a problem with resets as we spend most of our time playing and developing our chars anyway so no big deal redoing one . Come on if you have a knowledge of the game and how to lvl quickly then spending a few weeks power lvling aint a problem and in fact adds to the fun as you forget what seems easy to you now with good stats aint that easy with lower stats. Always used to put a grin on my face whilst lvling new chars in JG . Maybe thats cos im sad

Being Swedish I have anticipated the release of the EU version for quite some time now. Not to play the game though, I have been playing it from BETA and gladly spent my hard earned money for an import, but for the European servers. Searching for players that fit your sleeping profile is not the easies thing on several of the servers me and my friends tested. (Started out on Chilastra before we found out the unofficial US label)
I enjoyed reading though this post with flames and all. Not considering the ongoing debate regarding the pros and cons of character transfer there are some valid questions in this “six pages and still counting” thread. After a few pages I tend to forget what have been said earlier so I tried to sort the questions out as a way to test my own cognitive capacity/sanity). I though I’ll share it with all of you who, like me, forget what questions LeJediFou asked back on page one. (I’ll try to stay away from the char. Transfer war zone though)
Q: When will there servers go live? We want dates preferably down to hours and seconds ). Will the servers be up from day one of the release? What are they going to be called so we can start making plans with fellow players?
Q: Is there going to be a language patch for all none English speaking players? Shub stated earlier that there wasn’t going to any difference between the versions. The only change is packaging and manuals.
Q: Will the new servers feature the cries of Alderaan chapter or skip ahead to the next one? People want to know if there is any use chasing after the badge with just a few weeks until chapter is closing.
Q: There has been much aggravation concerning character transfers. “If at all” or “how long will the delay be?”
Q: Is there any real difference between the US and the EU subscription? Will we be able to play on both kinds of servers? Shub_ninx answered this at the beginning by stating that you could play both kinds with one subscription, not splitting it up like SOE did with the EQ servers they set up in EU (no, not AB)
Q: Where will the servers be placed geographically? The race for the perfect ping has begun
Q: When will the EU-servers be patched. Fear that there will be problems playing with pre-patched EU clients on patched US servers have been voiced. There is also some concern that if SOE keep their regular patch schedule the EU servers will be patched in the afternoon/early evening as is the problem today.
Q: Will the EU players be charged the VAT? This question has been answered by our very competent fellow players (thanks Lath123 for making it clear to the rest of us). Yes. The Value Added Tax is not just on imported services but on all services.
Q: Will future expansions be released simultaneously or will there be a similar delay on them as it has been on the official EU launch and will they be compatible? Can I use a US version of SWG and buy the EU version of the space expansion?
Q: Could there be a button on the update client so that you could choose only to download EU or US patched content for those that choose only to play on one kind of server?
Q: Will the EU servers be well marked during character creation for easy recognition? Will there be official language servers like French and German or will there just be general European ones? Shub wrote in the initial post that there would be no language specific servers. The only difference would be the geographical location of the server not the content.
Q: Will you add support for some of the special characters used in other languages? Like the French accented characters? Could be a future patch maybe?
Q: Could the monthly fee be paid in Euro instead of Dollars?
Q: How will the customer support be handled? Will it be handled on regular EU office hours or will it still be handled in-house on US time?
Phew... getting cramp in my hand from all the typing. Hope I didn’t miss anything, just flame me if did . Its all so much clearer in my head now hope the post was of any therapeutic value for some of you. It certainly was for me. Now that we got the questions all down perhaps we could get an answer from Shub.

I dont understand what the problem is for people starting on a new euro server. U can try new skills, u can talk to ur fellow europeans about joining the same server, and u will have the knowlegde to gain fast xp.
i planned to start euro servers with a lot of other danish people, which i already plays with on eclipse, and we r looking forward to start all over, and we have the advantage that we already are alot of people who will start together. We know where we can hunt, gain fast xp, and where we want to start up our own city.
Also i like the idea of trying another proffesion, and still be able to use my old character on US server.
Finally i play this because its fun to play, and i dont see why people play the game, if they dont want to play ?? if u know what i mean... for me I can say i find it kinda boring thinking of having a master/master with no skill points left!! Now i have the opportunity to PvP with my master commando on eclipse, and make a new one character on euro server.
I understand people who dont have the same playtime as I have, and for them the idea of transfering chars is a good idea. But i wouldnt like to see master chars transfered to the new server i want to start on....
