True, but we are talking about a mechanic that is not directly dealing with difficulty of a/the combat system in place. This is over a 90% consensus of the player base that wants decay removed, and it has nothing to do with difficulty, or balance.. but moreover the will of the dev vs. the will of the player base.

Both weapons and armor decay when they are used. Weapons are exempt from the 1% death decay. Devs please answer this:

WHY IS ARMOR THE ONLY THING THAT HAS BOTH USAGE AND DEATH DECAY?

Then explain to us, please - what makes it an important game mechanic? Why is it important to have our armor and clothing and crafting tools decay on clone? Why not re-implement and fix the "corpse run" system? I think, as the players of the game, and the people who have turned the game into what it now is, we deserve to know that. I, personally, will be more than satisfied with a reason.

What's the story on this? Will it ever be re-implemented? I thought the current system was just temporary until the bugs could be worked out...

You know what, I think you guys (the devs) need to get those walkie talkie cell phones:

*crackle*

We're removing the 1% decay

*crackle*

Ok, I'll tell the community

*crackle*

Wait, nevermind

*crackle*

Ok

*click*

See probelm solved

Anyway, I for one am opposed to the decay. Insurance is for one thing: making sure your stuff is in tip top shape no matter what happens. As a master DE this isn't too much of a problem for me since I'm not in combat, but I do die every once in a while during imperialraids after trading with an overt. It is pretty frustrating to loseany percentage of my stuff even after paying insurance. I can completely understand uninsured decay, but not insured. Just my two-cents.

P.S. I can't wait for the Droid Invasion!! It's so exciting.

I'll mentionthis again...

With the addition of the Imperial Crackdown Rebels have the chance to be forced Overt...And the addition of removing defenses stacking makes ALL COMBAT PROFESSIONS more vunerable then they were before...this is a bad combination which will lead to much more death and decay...and resulting in more people buying insurance more often which leads to less money to spend on crafted items...it hurts everyone...it looks good on paper, but when you put all the pieces together it looks like a horrible mistake no one with good judgement would inflict on this game...

Instead of removing defense stacking, up accuracy to off-set this...and listen to the majority for once...remove decay completely while insured at least...

another pro decay post from a guy that apparently has never had armor.

and btw anyone can repair armor, I along with many many people arent convinced armorsmiths actually get a repair bonus or not

I never stated I support item decay, did I? Nope.

And have you ever tried repairing armor yourself with your ZERO armor repair skill? Yes, even with your 99% armor repair tool it will fall apart in your hands. You need a Master.

I'll go over this slowly for you. Anyone can repair armor. Anyone has the same chance of repair/damage/destroy when repairing armor. Armorsmith or not it doesn't make a difference that anyone has been able to tell. The quality of the tool is the only factor that has been found to make a difference, and yes the higher rating the better chance of success.

A master armorer went 1/5 on mine the other night.

Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country. - Hermann Goering

Show me where in the AS skill tree the armor repair skill pops up. Oh? What's that you say? That's right, it isn't there. Every player has the exact same chance at a repair/failure (unless you're lucky enough to find a skill tape, I have a +1 weapon repair one).

(I posted this in the original thread, but I am afraid it will get overlooked.)

Folks,

I have to step in, as Senior Producer, and take some responsibility here. The 1% decay removal was communicated to TH. We then revoked that change without telling him. He posted erroneous information to you, and it is my fault. I have apologized profusely to him, and now I am doing so to the community.

Here is why we revoked that change:

We want the GCW to be everything it can be. We want factional PvP to be fun and exciting. We understand that as players, you don't want the 1% decay. We think it is an important game mechanic in the right situations, but we want to remove it from factional battles.

Our plan is, in the next publish (NOT Imperial Crackdown, which is due soon, but the following publish) to have a factional perk that you can purchase with faction points. This perk will give you 24 hours of no decay on insured items for factional deaths.

Now as to your harsh words and attitude towards Thunderheart... I understand your frustration. But you have to know that every morning, the first person I talk to is TH, to find out about the current hot issues. He comes with us to almost all of our high-level meetings and represents "the voice of the players". He has tremendous passion for the game, and for you, and for his job. He fights for your issues, heart and soul, day in and day out. His job is to know your desires and represent them to us. And I think he does his job **edit** WELL.

It kills me to see how harsh some of the player population is towards him, because I know in no small part, we are responsible for any misinformation that you receive from him. No one is perfect, and things happen very rapidly from time to time. Miscommunications are going to occur. Don't kill the messenger. Please be forgiving, or direct your wrath towards a more guilty party (me).

Again, my deepest apologies for any misinformation regarding item decay from PvP. I take full responsibility. We love this game, as you do, and want it to be everything it can be. With your help, we will get there.

Best,

- Gary

LOL dood, how stupid do you really think we are? Oviously quite... That is nothing more than a ruse to by more time. You (SOE employee's)were telling "a version of the truth radically different than the real truth" all along, and this is too. I gaurantee you this little story your telling here will NEVER happen. It's a simple maneuvering ploy, to buy more time, nothing more nothing less.

If this really was the "truth" why'd you wait until NOWto tell us? It's a flat out LIE...
