Thread: Publish 6 Feedback: Vehicle Customization and Ownership
A major complaint regarding vehicle customization...
This morning I had a few people in guild chat complain that the customization wears off so quickly that they're never going to bother buying additional customization kits.
So stop decaying vehicle customization! Make it permanent! People call their vehicles so many times during the day that the decay can occur within hours of having customized your vehicle in the first place.
How on earth is decaying paint supposed to be beneficial to anybody? If you thought it was going to be helpful to Artisans, you're wrong. Instead, people aren't going to bother buying additional kits if they have to repaint every day or two.

Yeah I'm having the same problems. The speederbike autostores constantly! I've had to walk back to town 3 times now while doing survey missions! I was only on for a little over an hour and a half!!!!!! Got so furstrated by that, the fact that the trim color won't stick (applied and immediatly stored only to have if come back reverted to red. did this twice and decided not to waste any more kits) and the fact that my BE can't seem to sample creatures anymore that I had to hang it up for the night!
It's odd, because everyone seems to mention this. I'm actually having less auto-store problems lately, but the "vehicle warp" where you get off and are 50-100m away is happening each and every time I get off the vehicle now. It's driving me nuts...

The ability to own all three vehicles? Excellent, great job, I love it, many kudos for that.
The vehicle paint wearing off like droid paint? Excellent, I love how everyone can now see what stupidity the DEs have had to put up with. Now if you could just make Droid kits useable by all players so that we might actually be able to sell them. That might make up for a little of the humiliation we still endure.
Three vehicles in the datapad seems to work fine.
The vehicle color customization is another story. The first time I got it colored, it wore off completely by the next day. Then I painted it again myself this time, and my trim colordidn't stick.
If you think people are going to keep painting their vehicles over and over and over then think again. Because most won't bother. Just like they don't bother with droid color. It wears off toofast!MAKE THE COLOR CHANGE PERMANENT (on droids too). Don't worry, the poor little crafters will still be able to sell these tools even if the color change lasts forever, because people get sick of the colors and want to try something new. Also, whenever you get around to fixing the vehicle repair exploit, people will actually have to buy a new vehicle when it gets disabled. That means buying another color customization kit for their new ride.
Great to see SOE addingbuggy customizationsto vehicles before they even function correctly. 80% of the time when I get off my vehicle or mount I get tossed 20m-100m away. This happens to everyone and I roll my eyes everytime I see someone dismount andseemingly burst run 50m backwards. Vehicles autostore randomly. You can be getting on, off, or leave it for any amount of time and it will store on you. Sometimes you can leave it parked outside for over an hour and it will sit there and deteriorate.
Try fixing the bugs in your "content" before you add new "content."

Is it true that the hitpoint bug was discovered on test center and still published to live?
Yup.

Now that is truly a screwup of huge proportions. All that crowing of having the publish 1 day early - rather sad really.
I hope these PR fiascos will end soon. I don't want things early - I want them RIGHT.
Vehicle Customization
Master Artisans can craft a new tool that allows players to 'paint' their vehicles. Players can customize "body" colors and "striping" colors.
Yea we were all excited about this until all of a sudden it said the vehicles paint job was gone. Please look into removing the color decay on droids and vehicles. MMO's always have a tend to have cookie cutter players (everyone looks the same). By keeping the colors we choose for droids and vehicles we get to be just a little bit different from everyone else in this regard.
Vehicle Ownership
Players can now have 1 of each vehicle on their datapad
I like this feature.
What do you think of these changes?

Eh, you're right. It was terrible of me to suggest thatthe possiblility that the bug that will reset your vehicle to full healthmay reset not only the HAM, but also the original paint. What kind of sense would that make? Absolutely none. Obviously.
I didn't use the exploi... er... bugand my vehicles all retained their color. I didn't say there was no other way for them to lose their color, but it actually makes a bit of sense that if the travel exploit resets the HAM it might also reset the color. Doesn't it?
I never said the programmers were perfect either, but I give them the benefit of the doubt. Well, usually. The recent 1500 HAM vehicle bug slipping through the cracks after it had been reported several times really irked me, but I won't mention it again because I'm trying to stay positive so the forums remain a fun and productive place to talk.
His original postlooked like he wassaying, "I tried to cheat and repair my bike for free and it backfired on me and now I'm mad."
To the orignal poster: I'm sorry for assuming you were intentionaly using a cheat to fix your bike, but it genuinely sounded like that's what you were saying.
Next time I'll rephrase my comment to be more gentle. I'll simply say, "Hey, buddy! You might try storing your vehicle before traveling. MAYBE the vehicle travel bug that some people wrongly use to restore the vehicle to it's new condition, actually restores the vehicle to its new condition. ie:fresh out of the deed condition with all default values"
I don't think I'm better than anybody or anything, you just caught me in a bad mood because of the aforementioned annoyance that cannot henceforth be mentioned. I'm sorry if I came off as snobby or holier than thou. It was certainly not intended.

/sigh
I dont use the exploit & I still lose the colouring very quickly. When I lost it I'd just logged on so there was no way I'd even un-intentionally used it at that point.
But the fixing your vehicle thing in most cases is deffinately not used as an exploit. Example: yesterday I got off my swoop & checked my harvestor.. while off my swoop I got agro'd & killed. When I got my swoop out at the cloning center it'd been fixed.. what was I supposed to do? walk several k back to my vehicleso that I can store it?
