Enhanced New Player Experienceffice
ffice" />
This is old hat for you, but for new players coming into the game, we have an enhanced new player experience. The idea is to take that first experience after walking out of a Star Port for the first time and give it a little more direction. The objective is make the first few steps into Star Wars Galaxies a little more exciting and focused when the virtual world is new and wide open.
· New players will start the game in cities with a proven population of veteran players.
· New players will be taught how to advance in their chosen profession in a way is fun and interesting.
· New players will have the ability to easily do the same with any of the other base professions.
· While learning about their profession and having fun advancing, new players will be able to earn credits and fun rewards.
· New players will be introduced to more advanced and interesting aspects of the game such as mounts, vehicles, and player cities. This will include an option to learn more about how to obtain or get involved with these intermediate and advanced game systems.
Some of the core changes are:
Starting Location: After new players leave the tutorial they will start in large, recognizable city with considerable player traffic:Mos Eisley, Tatooine. This will immerse players in a busy location where they can quickly and easily get involved.
Novice Profession Quests
When a new player enters the game world with their character, they will be given some fun quests to complete. These quests will have basic goals such as, “How do I gain scout experience?” To accomplish this, each of the novice professions will have basic quests that guide them through acquiring basic tasks and explains how to get the various types of experience points for each of the novice paths.
Helper Droid
Another element to the enhanced new user experience is a helper droid. This helper droid (anR2style droid) will answer questions, provide information, and help the new user accomplish their goals. Whenever the helper droid is unpacked, it can be asked multiple questions about the starting professions the new player currently has as well as some introductory questions about other professions. The information will be supplied in a concise and informative manner without bombarding the new player with an over-abundance of text. As much as possible, the information given will tie directly into the existing Holocron database of information.
Did you play through any of the enhanced new user experiences? Which ones?
What did you think?

Wow, I may start up a new toon somewhere just to check out the helper droids. Nice work.

I keep hearing people saying that they are gtting R2 droids, but the official response is they are mouse droids. Which is it? I am hoping an R2 unit. It just makes more sense.
The helper droid is an R2 unit.
I am excited about this! I spend hours a week helping the random new person that just started in a ghost city...on corbantis we are already planning groups to go to mos eisley to help out new people!
Mos Eisley?
Mos Eisley is a bloody ghost town most of the time on Ahazi, and I created a new toon last night just for the hell of it on Bria, and selected Mos Eisely to start. There was ONE other player in the entire town!
If you want a city with "considerable player traffic" but not lag disaster, might I suggest Tyrena? The crackdown cities might also be good, as the new player won't be scanned with consequencesearly on and will see moderate traffic at least, if nothing else than seeing Rebels farming stormies for FP.
Dropping them into Coronet or Theed is probably NOT a good idea, even though those two cities are far and away the busiest on the server.
