You could argue that this should go in the entertainer/dancer/musician forums, but as it's really a question for combat professions I felt this would be a good place to start.

The problem as I see it is that as a full template in any combat profession there is no reason at all to go to a cantina. The inspiration buff only helps if you're grinding, so this effectively means that combat types will *never* go to a cantina once they're done grinding.

Maybe it's just me, but I can't help feeling that the powers that be havetaken away a large amount of the immersion factor of the game by removing the only real reason for the majority of the players (ie the combat profs) to congregate in what was designed to be the social hub of the game. If the worry is that a lack of entertainers will prevent 'low frequency' gamers from playing, then make cantinas behave in the same way thatmedical centres do by clearingBF slowly even if there is no entertainer present...

If you agree, let the devs know... If you don't post anyway to keep this thread alive

That's all folks... Play nice

I posted this in the jedi forum just to see what the view of the combat types was, and posting it here is probably like asking people ifwater is wet, but anyway....

BF was more than just a time to hang in a cantina to be social. It was also a very important part of PVP. Back in the day of TKM/BHs, one of the ways to beat them was to fight till their BF climbed so high that their healing was effected. Once that happened then it was basically lights out for the BH.

It was also important in base raids. There were several times that we needed my musician in the base to heal CMs who were healing other's minds and needed to lower his/her mind wounds and BF to keep them in the fight. I still dont understand why BF was removed from the game. It was what made SWG unique in the realm of MMORPGs.

Well, you could argue that... But the fact is that asking entertainers whether BF should be reinstated is like asking someone if lava is hot... There's not a lot of point - they probably (although I can't say that for certain) agree.

The real test of what the community thinks (and as jedi, we all have an alt that isn't a jedi) is asking *them* whether they feel that it would be a good thing or whether they think it would be a monumental pain in the neck and are glad to see it gone.

As it's something that should be asked of all combat professions, and I didn't think it would be helpful to cross-post the same message to all the combat forums, I thought I'd ask the jedi community for their views 'cos frankly there's nowhere else to ask.

p.s. Glad that you think it's a good cause

Not that it will do much good. The developers wanted it gone. I still to this day don't understand the reason. It seems that combat types missed it more than many of we entertainers.

Battle Fatigue served many, many functions besides just "giving us something to do." I made a post about Battle Fatigue's role in the game. Here's the link:

So what do you think? BF good or BF bad? And more to the point, why did they ditch it in the first place?

Battle fatigue is not coming back. I've made it abundantly clear to the devs over the past couple of months that many entertainers would like BF reinstated. But the answer is, "No.". The reason I have been given is that BF does not fit in with their plan.

Wow - a far more substantial andfar better arguedpost than mine, 6 pages of replies and still not a red name in sight

I just wonder whether these threads get read at all... It would be nice if they could at least offer some kind of justification for removing such a useful and unique game mechanic, rather than just leaving us to assume that they removed it because other MMORPGs didn't have that....

Yes dear. Its what's called the "carrot and stick" approach.

The powergamers get the carrot of having no BF to stop their perpetual unattended looting of the game, and three professions that have no game but clicking "/inspire" on them.

What entertainers, most players, and others get is whacked over the head with JFreedman's stick. With no self-buffing, no rotational mechanic, no realism, and no game but clicking on the stupid "/inspire" command.
