Thread: Petition for 30 second Mind buffs

Since everyone started using the 30 second mind buff exploit, we could finally go into cantina's and actually find entertainers to do mind buffs. The 30 second mind buff was the best thing that could have happened to the entertainer trade, now they have taken it away and the trade, will die away again. 30 seconds may be a little short, but 8 -10 mins for a mind buff is just anappaulingly long time. If you feel the devs should implement a shorter time on entertainer buffs, please post here with your views and opinions.

I'd like to see us able to give an instant buff for ONE person that has a delay after giving it. The easiest way to make this happen and look good through dancing is with it being tied to a special effect while dancing. Allow us still to give a group mind buff over a duration but allow us to zap someone with an instant mindbuff with a simple /dazzle mind or /color mind command with a delay just like a doctor has on a stat buff. The buff effect would take a larger than normal action amount of couse as opposed to the group buff which would just be the already in effect dance while being watched.

The other important change I would make to this buff action is that it would not require the person to be /watching you at all. It would be 100% under the control of the dancer or musician (since this could easily work for the musician as well).

Gah, wouldn't that be cool? I'll try reposting that in the corre forum, but I don't know if today (or this week even) is going to be a great time to get attention... try to remember this one or stick it in the issues thread unless it gets lost.

Imaa Yures <Master Dancer/Musician> Tempest

Mayor of Fellowship City, Lok

sounds great to me ... I do RolePlay .... I love being a Master Dancer / Musician ... I constantly chat ... and everything that goes with that .. but the speedbuff was the only decent way to make money in the profession. I used to only make 50k working 4-5 hours on-line with 8-10 minute buffs.. with the speed buff I could make a lot more in a short amount of time .. then also be able to do other stuff <mayor stuff>.

my hubby, Ducktaped from Eclipse, got me into this game .. I love being an entertainer .... I like the interaction with other players .. I love to roleplay as well ... even though some don't get into to it !! tee hee ....

I would like the devs to atleast give us something comparable to docs/chefs ...the doc buffs are quick and they have a long line waiting ... the chefs have ppl all over buying hughe crates they can take with them .. with no downers .... we are stuck in Cantina's with having customers to wait for buggy buffs ... anywhere from 3 to 8-10 minutes per type of mind stat .... I really feel we have been replaced with a crate of Brandy .... the constant thing I hear from ppl is .. why wait for 20 to 30 minutes <if there is a line> for a mind buff <for those who want both types> when you can just go buy some brandy .....

still very upset about the buff thingy

also the new droids are bugged .. you call them outside .. then when you try to get them to follow you in .. they disappear ... took me 5 times to walk in and out to get mine in the cantina last night !!

nice effects though .. . .. would like some sort of speed buff included as part of master of the profession <both dance and music> just seems right for those of us who worked hard to get where we are today to have our main money maker taken from us. Imaa Master Dancer / Musician + Mayor ... it leaves no ..and I mean no, room for any combat ... or anything else .... and now you've take the thrust of my money making skills away ..... grrrr ....

ok .. I'll stop as Imaa about to start flaming .. don't want that .. just want something to "appeal" to other players to use our services in the buff area ... waiting too long as one of our buffs deteriorate is not very appealing ....

Oh Lord help me keep my mind on ^^ OH LOOK A BIRD !! ^^ one thing at a time ...

I have to say in nearly 8 months of being a dancer, I have never once had a customer complain about how long it was taking to do a buff. If you entertain the customer as well as buffing them, I don't think they mind at all.

I don't like to complain about mind buffs, I am grateful to each and every musician & dancer able to buff, it's difficult enough at times to find a mind buff, so why try and put them off continueing the profession?

as a general rule, I tip twice the buffed amount, a lot of entertainers only ask for 5k, I tip 10k. Speed tapes for dancing and mind buffs would make a significant difference to the prof and would maybe help no end. A doc with speed tapes can buff in a full set in less than 30 seconds, compare this to entertainer profs and it's just not fair. I have seen many people drop the entertainer prof to go doc because they can't make the same kind of money, this is quite sad that swg has this kind of situation.

Mind buffs are a maximum of 2 hours too, this doesn't work with doc buffs, they last for an average of over 3 hours, soe should either bring mind buff times in line with doc buffdurationsor allow stacking of them again.

I don't know about speed tapes available for buff time reduction, but chefs do make a food item called T'ssolok. I have been dying to try this out and see how T'ssolok works. If I were a devious fighter type, say on a server like Radiant, I might tip a dancer with T'ssolok and then tell her/him to "buff me, baby".

I don't think it would be a good idea to make that thing of the 30 sec buff back, everyone usingthat explot didn't mean hat now you were able to see enterteiners, the real enterteiners were always there, it's just that now that it was easy for the people to go and do a quick run to the cantina to get a mind buff, and with the new jedi quests, all the afk macroteiners will go finally and the cantinas will go back like the old times, Coronet and theed won't be laggy places because there won't be a lot of afk people, you will find the old enterteiners that left the cantinas to go somewhere else or hunt something back. 3 mins is a good time to get a good buff, doctors can get 3 hours buff but that is because the status of the resources they use, while dancers/musicians only use their bodies/instruments, no stats or anything, just skill boxes and time. so 2 hours is still good.

3 mins is enough time for us to have some interaction with the other players, at least we can get a hi or something else than " can you buff me?, ok I'm watching" this is the profesion we wanted and one of the good things is that we can talk with other people, why are you paying 15$ to play an online game if you don't want to talk with the people, then you can go and buy another game that you just need to pay the cost and don't talk with anyone because it's not online game.

I don't really think we need the 30 second buff.A little over 3 minutes and you are set. From what I read in the forums many people still use the original8 - 10 minute rule. Plus you can group and do about 20 patrons in the same amount of time. Just let a doctor try and do that. Of course getting them to watch all at once can be a bit trying. As for money, while I like tips (don't we all) most of us do it because we love the prof and the interaction with our customers, we don't dance to get rich, although that would be nice.If we could just get the buff to stick every time. . .

In answer to Panthu below (if you are referring to my post) I am FAR from satisfied with the Dancer's state of affairs. I am only reffering to the IMO uneeded speed buff.

Please be careful with your comments ... let's not give the impression that we are satisfied with our current state in the game if that isn't really the case.

Positive comments are good! Discounting our profession makes it hard to get any attention though.

Panthu, I, too, have to ask for clarification as to your post. I couldn't care less about the 30 second buff - I neverused it and was never asked to. I probably wouldn't use iteven if it were made available as I am a roleplayer and it runs contrary to my play style. However, your post makes it sound as though we should curb our comments to fit in line withan agenda. I, for one, am not willing to do that. There are plenty of things I am not happy about regarding the "state" of our profession. The loss of the 30 second buff is not one of them and I feel I have the right to say so.
