Most of us have probably encountered at least one weirdo while dancing. I have personally encountered many since I started dancing, and some of them can be horribly disturbing and offensive. At worst, they force me to log because I'm so upset and at best, the offer a good laugh. I think being able to laugh it off in the end and not let it ruin my gameplay is the best option when available.

Just thought I'd share a few of the funnier (less offensive) experiences and invite you all to do so also:

Way back when I was still very new to the game, and naive I was dancing in Bestine with a group of about 5 including the leader who was a musician. He requests that I wear the exotic leotard because its better for attracting customers, so I put it on. That should have raised a flag in my mind, but I was trying to be successful and contribute to the group so I didn't think much of it. We talked in group chat and I mentioned that I was also a scout. The guy gets ALL happy and asks me to come outside for a second because he needs me to do some scouting. I'm like "huh?" but he tells me that I can /forage and get him some food. I was trying to be nice and helpful, so I ran outside and tried the command. I got some melon or something and he starts telling me to do it again. Only then did I figure out he just wanted to see my bum. How embarassing...what a perv. I avoided Bestine for about a month after that...

Back before Theed was taken over by the AFKs it used to be a fairly competative place to work for tips. I used to station myself in the main part of the cantina where I had a clear view of the steps and try to catch the eye of the folks that came in for entertaining. I tried to make everyone feel appreciated and smiled and chatted a lot because it earned me cash for my clothing addiction. Being outgoing of course gives some people the idea that you are MORE than a dancer. Usually I ignored/reported the pervs and went on about my business, one guy totally threw me though. He offered me 100k credits to suck on his fingers. He got very detailed about how he wanted them sucked on too...OMG...WEIRDO! I felt too sorry for him to report him, I just went about my business and ignored him.

And finally, the other night when a weirdo approached me, I was able to turn the tables on him with the help of my hubby. I was buffing minds in Theed when this guy starts hitting on me. He was complimenting me at first so I tried to just be nice and shrug it off. Soon he starts getting creepy saying something like "Oh I like the shy ones...they're always the quietest and its so sexy" and I'm thinking UHOH. Next he sends me a tell that he wishes we could go somewhere more private. Determined to not let him upset me I just tell him theres nothing wrong with where I am. He replies that he wants to take me someplace where we can be alone so he can "take advantage of me". O-M-G, not only is a perv, but he's a dumb one. I tell him I'm only a dancer and he still offers me 200k to go somewhere private for "steamy conversation". Of course, I'm telling my hubby everything thats happening. Being the wonderful, chivalrous guy he is, he comes in the cantina and in spatial tells the guy "Hey so-and-so, I heard you were looking for someone to cyber with and you will pay a lot. I have this buddy that plays a female char and needs some cash, why don't you try him. You don't mind if he's really a guy do you?" The guy tries to act like nothing happened but then it comes out that he was harrassing other dancers too. The guy gets humiliated and eventually leaves. Score one for the harrassed dancer. I should have reported him too.

Anyway ladies, my point is that there are pervs out there, but don't let them ruin your fun.

I think being a dancer is one of the reasons I keep riflegirl too when someone starts acting in that form, i put my Riflegirl title up and start making the kids cry.

I can't think about anything good right now, i had a lot of people bothering me a lot that I can't remember about one, but I remember more when the kids start saying naughty things in tells and then i say in spatial few things like "first learn how to clean your arse by yourself before trying to hit on a toon" " yeah sure why not, I'll cyber with you, I just hope my wife won't be angry because of that" (this one uses to scare the guy quickly and the band starts laughing).

I think the one I can think about right now is pretty similar to the last one you said, i someone offered me 500k to go to his house like 2k away of the cantina so I can dance for him and play a nice toon strip tease while telling him what would I do if I was with him, he even tipped me 200k so I could get some motivation to stop dancing and follow him, he asked me " now that I gave you some money, how will you pay me back?" and I said " you gave me 200k to go and cyber with you, you're so cute, the first thing I'm going to do is to report you and then I'll just add you to ignore, you like that or want more?" i think it was just a poor kid because he freaked our so quickly, i was specting something like " i don't believe you" or things like that, those pervs are the ones who made me stay with my only combat oriented profession.

Gives a whole new meaning to "nice melons".

From Noreenf:

The guy gets ALL happy and asks me to come outside for a second because he needs me to do some scouting. I'm like "huh?" but he tells me that I can /forage and get him some food. I was trying to be nice and helpful, so I ran outside and tried the command. I got some melon or something and he starts telling me to do it again. I'm not a dancer, but I've seen this happen plenty in the Coronetcantina when I was working on Musician. I've seen lots of...uh..."ladies" playing as dancers. Back in the day before all the AFK nonsense, I saw lots of the "ladies" offeringstripteases and the like, but they would give them IN the cantina.

I am so glad this never happened to me!

But then I've always danced with a sword and a pet doing backup dancing. /shrug. Maybe when I go back to dancing in cantinas for fun I'll see it. If I do I'll offer to duel them, sick my wonderful pets on their arse, and dodge all their attacks.

I'll give them a new meaning to the word "being hit on."

My cantina horror stories deal more with AFK idiots using formal (which is bugged) to let their toon wander spasming all over the dance floor and ruining any performce we ATK dancers might start. Or stupid non-rpers spamming spatial with l33t speak about game mechanics. Or people unable to separate character and player, and taking roleplayed in-character insults (like, "rebel scum" or "walking carpet") personally and getting all mad.

I deal with in-character lewd proposals in character, and I ignore people who make out of character lewd proposals. Easy enough.

For some reason I think of my stalking experiences as more sinister. Probably because I put myself in a position that mirrors The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Quick background: My character concept is a farm girl raised on a bantha ranch on Tatooine. She was in the Entertainment biz for a bantha rodeo. So, she focused primarily on dancing, scouting, animals, and shootin (regular Annie Oakley).

Back before player cities ruined the atmosphere of Tatooine and before you saw too many Master combat bunnies, the wilderness was pretty dangerous. And it was vast. So, I usually enjoyed meeting up with a random soul. One of us would set up camp, and I'd use my Dancer and Medic (when I had it) skills to help him out. We'd have conversations about what was in the area. Sandstorms always set the mood for showing how desolate the landscape was.

But every tenth person I met (roughly) was interested in trying to get to know me as a player. They always seemed bolder in the isolated camps than in the cantinas. Maybe it was just my imagination (see Texas Chainsaw Massacre reference above). Maybe it is because there is no one to hear how lewd he could be.

Of course, nowadays, I don't run into anyone in a campsite anymore. I'd take on those weird, creepy guys to get those days back. Ah well.

Love Star Wars, but the few role-players I could find on the servers were outnumbered by powergamers who wanted only l337 l00t and mad skillz. I can't justify paying $15 a month to play a game by myself.
Still cares enough to interject an opinion, though.

Eek, wow... I'm suddenly glad that I'm a male dancer who almost no one hits on. Well, I mean, I've had a few people hit on me, but no one as strange as that.

Haehaehe, oh that melon story is classic!! Very funny stuff. I've been a master dancer for about 4 months now, it's my main profession and so of course I get my share of weirdos. Basically if I think someone is treating me in a way that they'd get bitchslapped for in real life (eg - smelling, licking, being generally rude) I give them one warning and if they still don't behave they go on my ignore list, simple. I've only had one really creepy customer who sent me repeated tells whileI was asleep and I came back the next morning to find something like 'I just want to be with you' typed out 20 times 0_0. He went on ignore. And today at a fashion event (that I won, yay! ) there was a very rude moron who kept pretending to be my bodyguard and following me everywhere - I threatened him with /ignore and he said if I didn't like him he would delete his character... oooookaaaaay. In the end everyone ignore him and he left.

I had an incident way back when I first started dancing that upset me for for quite sometime. I was dancing by myself in the the Moenia Cantina as I was want to do at that time and greeting patrons as they came in. I was trying different general emotes (Lei still hasnt gotten a third of them down yet) I did a /grin at a customer and I got a tell back from him stating something like "what do you find so humorous about me". Oooops!. I apologized and told him in spatial that I was just being friendly and saying hello. Before you know it he is talking money, how much do I make how much do I have etc. He then proceeds to tell me that "when we get married" he will need to know how much I will need to keep me comfortable. He then proceeds to brag that he is an architect and that he has more money than he knows what to do with. To make a long story short it degenerates and he keeps "telling" me and I finally put him on my ignore list (first time Lei ever had to do that). H e goes and coms back about 15 minutes later and hangs out in front of me doing everything to get my attention. Changing clothes constantly , crawling on the floor etc. I am very uncomfortable at this point , but I am also unwilling to leave. After a half an hour, or so it seemed, he finally leaves. For days after I dreaded that he would come back. Flash forward a few weeks. I'm dancing in the cantina and someone comes in and asks if I remember them. I said weren't you here earlier today? He said no I was (name deleted). I felt bad about the way I treated you. I deleted my character and started over. I just came back to apologize and say I was sorry. Wow a convert. Win one for our side.

Hmm, Id have to say the pinacle of harassment is a the duo of Zirby Ganners and Hobbs DeagleThey were my first harassers way back in august 03 and they managed to get some harasing in on my final dancing stint in march 04. They were big fans of the floor crawling/standing too close and following one around the cantina method. They realy weren't too perverted, just general hooligans mind you. Detemined though they'd follow me all the way to the shuttle which was realy the only way to get rid of them, skipping the planet. You know its funny i think i had more distressing encounters as a doctor than i did as a dancer.

Well, I haven't had a lot of horror stories, thank the gods. I do get hit on more than I'd like, but usually they do take no for an answer. I don't think anyone reads anybody else's bio anymore because no one seems to see the part in mine where it states that I'm MARRIED! That or, for some, they just don't care.

Let's see . . . I was dancing solo in the Theed cantina one day when Roho was out and none of my friends were around. Being newly marriedI intentionally wore what I thought was a rather modest outfit -a gold revealing top (which doesn't reveal anything, thankfully) withmatching striped pants and boots. I had this guy come right up on me who immediately started telling me IN SPATIAL how beautiful I was and what a great dancer I was. I thanked him, feeling a little uncomfortable, but wanting to give him the benefit of the doubt. Then he suddenedly started flashing me!! He'd strip down to his skivies and then throw on a different outfit andstrip it again - I honestly think he had a macro for it! All the time he was kissing and licking me. I told him to stop and he laughed. I told him I was married and he said - again in spatial - that what my husband didn't know wouldn't hurt anyone. Then he started using the "it was this big" emote . . . EWWW! That did it - I ignored him. But it didn't stop him - he kept it up, only I couldn't tell what he was saying now (I'll never ignore for sexualharrassment again - it puts the offender in a place of power). Fortunately, someone else came over and asked me to let him ID me and gave me a reason to pretend the creep wasn't there. After a couple of minutes of looking like an idiot changing clothes in a public bar, he left.

Another one was rather amusing . . . I was out hunting with Roho when I got a /tell from someone who had looked me up on a search. He offered me 100K to come dance for him (note he didn't ask for a buff) in his "palace". I told him I was hunting with my musician husband if he wanted us both to entertain him. Dead silence. I never heard from the guy again. I have to wonder if he managed to find some naiive dancer to fall for his pathetic scheme . . .

Actually, what I dislike the most are the "ahem" ladies who lick, kiss and fondle each other in the cantinas . . . They either don't realize its probably another guy on the other side of the monitor or they don't care that they are making a spectical of themselves in public. And its bad enough when a male comes in and gets all touchy/feeling but to have a female character do it is just . . . ICK! Learn to ASK first people!

Oh . . . that does remind me of a recent horror story. A large group of us were at the Theed theater for the first Entertainer Awareness Day event. One of the dancers (who licked and kissed both males and females as they came up on stage) hand wrote an extremely offensive "command" regarding me. Why I was targeted, I don't know. Several of us admonished "her". I still think "she" should have been tossed from the group . . . . This dancer never appologized anddidn't evenacknowledged our protests . . .
