Somebody told me this: The afk fix is in place on test center and all it does is eliminate calling another alias.
I don't know about you, but this is hardly enoughof a afk fix, to satisfywhat we've worked hard and long to get fixed.

I don't see anything about it in the notes.
They've told us that this fix won't be live until AFTER the combat upgrade. My guess is it's a rumor... nothing more.

SOETyrant did say he would see if he could get it in sooner, so it could happen concurrently with the CU, but I wouldn't place any bets on that.

So... is this true? Did they put this onto TC? And if so... this damn well better not be the end of it, or I will be forced to send all the devs 'fertilizer samplers' for Christmas... >.<

As anyone who plays on TC knows...they almost never post patch notes for TC, and if they do they are never complete.

Perhaps implementation is one step at a time. As Eaca, Tiaga and Steve have shown us all, the macroing system is so elaborate and so entrenched int he game it's no wonder they've tried to avoid changing this. I imagine a one step at a time process will allow them to backtrack easiest if they break something that wasn't meant to break. ....

You don't think it will help just a little bit? Doesn't it mean thatthey cannot leave a buffbot going, log in with their hunting character, get buffed and go hunting? Wouldn't this force them to play one or the other? I mean they can leave the buffbot there while not playing but don't most power gamers use these for themselves and friends anyways?

It might help with those who actually USE aliases to call other aliases. I don't know of very many buffbots who bother to get that complex. I imagine most of them just use one macro, or call macros with other macros. Macros and aliases are different. Macros are basically nothing but strings of text commands separated by semicolons - aliases are player-invented commands that prompt a command or series of commands to execute. For example:
/startdance exotic4;/pause 1;/flourish 2;/pause 20;/flourish 1;/pause 20
This is a macro. Now, if I were to want to make an alias for this macro (which we'll name 'dancing' for now) I would type this:
/alias dancing /macro dancing ((is it /set alias or just /alias, I can't remember at the moment))
Then, when I type /dancing it would execute the 'dancing' macro.
I honestly don't know many buffbots who would get into that.

Of the bot owners I've talked to, very few use aliased macros. Most use toolbar macros that just repeatedly call themselves (recursively). One of the reasons they've given me for preference of toolbar macros over aliases is the hassle of reloading after dumping if it jams for any reason. Those who do both music and dance have complained aboutaliased macros animating music when the bot should be dancing, if they have an instrument equipped.

I didn't even know about that! Thanks for explaining it to me! Learn something new everyday. Can you tell I don't use macros much?
