It is a big technical change, and takes a serious amount of development and testing. It is being done by a different team than the Combat Upgrade folks so it is not gated by that effort.
So, some bits of info: As quoted above, the unattended macro fix is not going to be gated by the combat upgrade, which means it could happen before or after. Several of us had been under the assumption that it was *definitely* after the CU - I myself have spread this misinformation before I re-read this post, and for that I'm sorry. Anyways, this should clarify that.
Secondly, just wanted to throw out the warning, for people who like their bios, don't use /set alias or /set anything - /set will actually set your bio to whatever text you put after it. The correct form is indeed /alias commandname commandtext.
This is also often confused with /setperform - people will type /set perform, and you'll see a lot of bios that are just the word 'perform'.
Ok, that is all for now. Keeping my fingers crossed that claims of not being able to call other aliases from aliases is not all they have planned for a fix.

Ever since release aliases were stopped from looping. This is nothing new. There is a recursion guard that catches the strangest things that aren't recursion in aliases. Is that what you were seeing, or something new?

There's still no official wordon the timeline of the AFK fix mentioned by Tyrant, whatever form that winds up taking. So... my guess is that this is just a rumor. Something as big as "The AFK fix" heading to TC would make some headlines, I'm pretty sure.

Well, I have my doubts (about a lot of things including the arrival of a macro fix in my lifetime) but the last "big" thing to hit Entertainers was the Entertainer quest. If I recall correctly they started a feedback thread which received no Dev replies and then was stealth-patched in several weeks later, virtually unchanged from its original appearance sixish months earlier.
