Thread: Ok now that we have that out of the way!
I've been thinking about this for a little while as well...
The only use I've been able to thinkof for auto joins is to intentionally encourage AFK unattendedautomation. I see no use for auto joining for anyone actively playing the game.
As a side not this is not only limited to the entertainer field, this is spilling over into the doctors ranks as well. Today on bloodfin in Coronet i saw an automated doctor buffer who was doing full buff package for FREE! Cutting into the doctors that were actually attending to their customers.
This trend has to stop, the economy can only handle so much of this kinda of stuff before inflation goes thru the roof for everyone.

Even though I completely agree on this point, I don't think it's possible to remove the /join command.
As far as I can tell, every single click, keystroke and button press has an associated / command. If I'm on stage dancing and I get an extremely rude patron, I don't have to stop dancing and go over to my cantina's control panel to ban the person, I just target him and type /setpermission ban <bugger's name> and he's shown the door.
But AFK grinding, not just for dancers but for all professions, needs to be dealt with. The only thing I can think of to deal with the problem is to make it so that being AFK means your character can NOT do anything. Can't dance, can't heal, can't survey, can't anything. Once that flag comes up, you just stop. That would mean changed the AFK system so that you can't set the time or turn it off completely.
I think people need to stop complaining and just enjoy the game. Seems that no matter what "its an explot", "nerf it" and quite frankly it's old.
Can't we all just enjoy this game for once without NITPICKING every single thing?
So there are AFK grinders...I don't care who is AFK dancing, I am just glad someone is "there" to heal my battle fatigue. Especially when theres no one else around town to do so.
So really, all this complaining is nonsense. Enjoy the game, amaze yourselves. You can do it.

I totally understand why you feel this way Aidrick. But the problem is that the 30 second buff exploit and the AFK dancers are preventing some of us from having fun.
The entertainer classes are very social classes. Our reputation comes from our ability to socialize with people, to ease their weary minds and battle fatigue not just through dance but through presence as well.
The 30-sec buffers and AFK dancers detract from that experience, making it hard for us to enjoy our profession.
Just like other combat classes were screaming for change when pistoleers were making gobs and gobs of xp in the Geonosian caves, so are we trying to protect the enjoyment of our profession.

Indirectly only. The fix for the 30 second buff is not the additional 2 minutes that's been added. The fix is the 15 second delay after /stopdance.
Most of us are still wondering why the've added the additional 2 minute "dead time", as it seems the 15 second delay alone would have defeated the workarounds to the flourish timer employed by the speed buff macro. Most of us agree that the 2 minute dead time hurts the "legitimate" player.
There's a simple way to fix the macros so you can't afk for days with them, but still use simple ones for everyday purposes. Remove the /macro [name] command and the /ui action toolbarSlot [number] commands. This way you'd have to be at your computer doing some work, instead of just being afk, getting exp, while you sleep.

You convinced me. But then, I'm not sure why there's a macro function at all.
the macro abilities are in the game to attempt to create a more level playing field for people that would (and do) use EULA-breaking 3rd party software and people that would not use those, but might be able to augment their playstyles with the use of simple macros
