To start, my name is Lissna and I'm a master dancer on Farstar and have been for 10 months now.I have recently become a lot more "aware" of my role as an entertainer. I've been reading the forums and have been very aware of the newest issues facing the entertainer community and while I have been hesitant on posting it is the following confession that has been the reason for my not posting. I started out as an adamant ATK player. I did my dancer grind ATK and never went AFK unless it was to go to the bathroom or grab a drink. But, I lost hope somewhere.
I began AFKing quite a bit. My thoughts were skewed but the same ideas kep running through my mind. What will I gain by being ATK? What reason do I have. And I couldn't come up with anything. I never sold my body as a buffbot, which isn't much to say, but, I have done a 180. I will now swear to NEVER NEVER NEVER go AFK while entertaining and I hope that I can be forgiven by the entertainer community. I realize now the mistake I have made and wish it could all be erased, but now all I can do is promote the ATK lifestyle. Thank you for listening and I would love any kind of feedback as my punishment

I don't think you'll find any "punishment" here. While I believe most of us are rampantlyopposed to what AFKing has done to our profession, we are also a rather forgiving bunch. Discouragement takes different forms and we react in different ways. I'm just glad that despite the recent tone we've been exuding in this forum lately you felt secure enough to post your confession anyway.
Welcome in!

Don't feel too bad
.
The point is that now you know, and while many may disapprove of your previous actions, I don't think anyone will disapprove of you as a person or your views, now that you've come around
.
I think you should go read this thread (read the whole thread) which discusses my similar experience.

/cheer Scip!!! That's awesome!!! I have recently started to grind to Master Entertainer and have been ATK. I will say that I didn't AFK for my dancer grind but I do feel horrible for the time I did AFK. And, let me tell you all how much fun I have had
It's been great

Welcome Liss - its a brave thing to come into an arena like this and admit you made some mistakes along the way. Very brave - kudos to you, and congratulations as you are now truly on your way to being a true Master of Dancers.

I'm just asking because I am curious how the rationalization works, so no offense is meant here but...
Were you already a master when you started AFKing? I can see AFKing for XP at least in terms of the logic of why it is done. But so many people keep AFKing after mastery... Most of them are buffbots so I assume they are doing it for money or for their guild to get free buffs (which is another way of saying they were doing it for money).
But you say you were not a buffbot, and it looks like you mastered (you "did your grind" ATK) before you started AFKing. So my question here is why?
Again I'm not trying to breate you here, I am just curious what the line of reasoning is. Why do that vs. just not playing at all?

I did some also, when I was new, and was told that's what you should do. I'd never played any other MMORPG, or other online game at all. A lot of newbies probably get that advice from their friends, who probably don't play ents...and no other ent on my server ever said anything to me otherwise. Even before I started reading the fourms though, it didn't feel right leaving my poor toon there all by herself, like a ghost. So, I only did it a few times here and there.

Well, you are right, I did start AFKing after I had already mastered. I started AFKing becuase I wanted to get teh FS healing tree and it seemed like a LOT of xp, so that's when it started and after that, it was easy

Ah, OK... so it was a form of post-master grinding. That at least makes sense, logically. Not that I would do it... but it makes more sense than AFK dancing just because you don't like a screen saver in windows or something.

I have mastered dancer four times now, and AFKed my way through two of them, I think. The first time, I didn't KNOW about the macros. Next two times I AFKed. The last time, I had been converted by the good people of this forum.

[hangs head]
I will confess to AFKing my way through PART of my second dancer grind (this is my third mastery) -- mostly the parts involving the dances I dont like. I cheated my way through part of my alts musician grind, too.
