The sad truth about these professions is that there are plenty of reasons to /startdance, but not any reason to /stopdance. Because the truth of it is, we have nothing to loose by starting our routine, and maintain it in the hopes someone will need a buff. That's sad.
What we need are not more reasons to /startdance, but more reasons to /stopdance. And why? Because if we look at real celebrities, they are always on the go. Always moving to one venue or another. Always either setting up a show, promoting a show, rehearsing for a show, or actually doing a show. Real professional performers don't sit back and wait for an audience's handout. They have managers, agents, producers, and promoters to do that sort of thing for them.
We have taken the micro game of the entertainer in SWG about as far as it can go in terms of the incentives, rewards, strategies, and methods. What we need is an enhanced meta game. We need to have a system drivenincome mechanism, distribution metchanism, time and credit sink mechanism, and incentive structure that exists wholly independently of our current "set up our routine and wait for passers by." We need the activity that our current game just doesn't give us. We need reasons to value the performance itself, and not anything that has to do with selling "/" commands.
Hopefully, my content proposal will help give the development staff ideas to do just that.

Welcome back to the world of ATK, it is so much more fun than the world of AFK

You know I am almost in a similar situation. On my other toons, I did afk grinding. At the time it seemed like everyone did it, and it sure made the grind faster. Eventually I gave up dance for combat. for various reasons. The thrill of combat became more fun than dancing, especially with the current state of the cantinas. Of course I realized I was part of the problem by contributing to the afk issue. But I also spent a lot of time atk dancing and had a great time. But it seemed those days were gone.
Eventually though, I foundI really missed dancing. So nowI have a new character who is going to dance. She is not going to be master dancer becauase I don't want to dance full time. I just want to be able to dance and go to parties. Of course it will take forever to grind because I am doing this all atk and as this is my second char I don't spend nearly enough time on her. But I will eventually get all the dances I want, and really, there is no rush to get there.
Cobgratulations on your decision, Lissna.
