Thread: Second Character Slot Question
I can't give up my dancer skills on Doriana, the repuation is to important to abandon -- I want the second char slot for, well, a second char. I can understand if I have to go through the getting glowy / village quests a second time to make that second char a jedi.. but I hope, too, that once I open the slot that I can drop the majority of the FS trees on my original char and reclaim the CH skills I'll have to drop to get them...
but I dunno how it works yet :/
Oops, I got so excited I forgot the message...
What do you mean 'but the 6 lines of FS?' Does that mean I can't ever get those 24 skill points back and still keep a second slot?

Yeah, my understanding is that you have to keep 6 lines active at all times, or your second slot poofs. This was the answer I got, so I think that's the plan. I have no idea if it's actually working that way right now or not though. Still, that's better than having to keep the Padawan box if you're just wanting a second slot.

Still means it's impossible for me to keep the template I chose at launch and haven't shifted from (dancer/CH/novice pistoleer). Of course I can really only unlock FS branches with the pistol skills since I don't have medic to unlock the ones to use the majority of my exp (dancer/CH/scout), so it's a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng road either way.
Actually I don't think that's very fair -- people who did hologrinding are able to return to their orginal template with no penalty
Thanks for the clarification!!

It's better yes, but not good enough
It ruins my master plan of unlocking my slot, the having Scip drop any knowledge of the force to become a pure entertainer while my new character goes combat/jedi (yes, I must be a glutton for punishment if I'm going to want to spend the time/xp to get padawan all over again).
And what if you have a well developed character, it just gets deleted if you drop one of those lines? You can bet people angrier than I would raise all sorts of hell (I'd raise hell, but not as many sorts) if their character just poofed.
I hope you're just mistaken.

No, you aren't the only one. I want that second slot so bad that I'd give up Panthu's right arm ::flees:: I don't want to drop Dancer. I don't want to drop Image Design.... So I'm stuck. I also have pistol skills that are a pain to work up. But I MUST have that second slot to play that Ithorian I want so bad. (Deleting Irys is not an option.)
So... well. I guess I just have to suck it up and deal. My RL fiance is going Combat Medic so I suppose I can get my healing trees in dancing back up with his help if he goes and poisons another friend of mine. Sadly, Dancer is easier to get back than Image Design....
Then I have to decide if I will Ever go Jedi with Irys... probably I won't... and is the +20 to mind healing (oy) worth all the work or should I just pick up combat enhancing things instead to augment my limited pistol skills?
Pick up the combat enhancement. You will see the benefit, a master won't. Working my way back to master riflewoman I saw the benefit but once I mastered it, there was no noticeable combat improvement.
Dang it, all I want is that second slot. I don't really want to be a Jedi- at least not while it's a big fad. ::shrugs:: I suppose I'll see when I get to that bridge.
I'm planning to become a quasi-jedi. I plan to maintain master dancer with the rest of my skill points going for jedi. So 106 sp for master dancer, 24 for fs skills leaving me 120 sp for jedi profession. So what if I won't be a great combat jedi, I just want to have fun being a master dancer hiding her futile jedi abilities. I will have to give up rifle (a combat profession i've really enjoyed) and being a mayor but my second character can pick up the mayorial duties and stay at the Commune and be a full-time crafter.
If you have a group of friends, ask them for help on the quests. My buffs ran out on the second patrol set an a had a friend that came to the wp I was at and killed the 3 siths for me and I got credit for the completion of that set of patrol points (which happened to be my last set of patrol points for that second patrol set).

I'm in the same boat though, I don't want to give up any Dance or ID... and giving up my little bit of combat isn't like the best idea. You can have 1 Box of elite Combat past novicewith the 6 FS if you don't go Master Ent. Or you canpick up one and a half lines of Force Discipline instead... I'm leaning towards this option.
If you were willing to just dabble enough for Poplock2 and Popular2, I think you could Master Force Healing and you would just not be able to buff and do effects(or pick up any combat).
