Thread: Entertainer is being condensed?
It comes from SWGVault. The Vault manager over there just got back from SOE offices and posted this:
Clicky
I is so confused.
Here is where i first read about it: Clicky Two
IF the proposed ten respecs are something every character gets and not a "grandfather clause" for established characters, then it might be alright. [edit: Further reading through the Test Center threads seems to indicate that it is, in fact, a grandfather clause.] I have to admit to a great deal of disappointment that I was right about the game moving to become EQ2 in space. It seems that the designers are hell-bent on destroying everything that was unique about Galaxies in order to turn it into a clone of every other game out there.
Guess I'll hold off on that respec until I have a look at the beta reboot on TC this weekend. From the sound of things, the designers have been playing WoW and City of Heroes and elected to emulate those games' combat systems. I just hope they understand that the underlying strength of those two games is in the lore of the game and the way that it impacts all of the game activities, not in the game mechanics themselves. If this is simply a re-write of the underlying game mechanics with no change in the overall content then I am going to be skeptical going into it.
Were any of our correspondents at the unveiling of this new version of the game? It seems that the it must be okay totalk about it if it's coming online on Friday and various correspondents are already discussing it.
I certainly hope the entertainer portion of the new game is something really cool since they seem to be deleting the only other profession I play the game for. With the Ranger revamp still listed as "in development" and even featured in the SWG newsletter that arrived in my email box today, I have to wonder whether we really have only nine classes. I'd suspect that it's something more like EQ2 where you have a starter class, and then advanced classes that branch off from there at milestone levels. There'll be an entertainer starter class, and when you get to "level 10", you'll decide whether to become a dancer or a musician.I guess we'll see this weekend.
Oh, and this isn't a joke or an unconfirmed rumor - Message from LucasArts Producer Julio Torres

The only comments about the entertainer line that I've seen so far was posted by Vandessa (who was, if memory serves,Tailor Correspondent back when I was Entertainer Correspondent):
The queue doesn't seem intuitive for dancing, however.
There's no context given to make sense of this statement, unfortunately.
Don't forget that there was also mention that entertainers/craftsmen will no longer be aggroed upon unless they initiate combat.
TC is spazzing out over it all. Personally I'm going to sit back and wait until more word comes forth from people who are actually there testing it. From what I'm hearing, those that have tested it love it - particularly the combat portion. As for the rest...we'll see. Who knows? Maybe the entertainer ship is finally coming to port.

ooo.. that would be nice.
What no oe clearly states is whether or not we can be two proffessions...its implied that we cant but not directly stated...nor does it state if there will be more toons...or if the second slots remain and can still be unlocked...I'm in shock and I have only done minimal grinding...

We can't mix profs (here) seconds slots will remain open and they're still limiting to one character per server (here) though it's not clear whether you can still open a second slot after the change.

Unfortunately, I was a Tailor at birth and will remain so.
Same here. I have my beloved ID/Tailor who will have to go. My grand master ent won't be affected. NOt sure yet about my Ranger and what was to be future-SL.
