Remove all entertainer related skills. Dancer,Musicans. Etc.

Every one of you have used macros in order to get exp. I bet most of you who post on this fourms have swg running in the background with a macro running. so if they stop afking they should remove all entertainer skills from every avatar. I would like to see all of you spend 800 hours+ just to master a profession.

That means you too raven, I don't think your swinging male twi'lek on test center got that far without macros.

I mastered Dancer without every using a macro or going AFK. Sorry to burst your bubble.

"Ironically, while researching this piece a representative from Sony asked us to keep in mind that many of the players complaining "weren't playing the class right," and that the class was designed as a solo experience. Such a comment is indicative of the original Ultima Online mistake: not realizing that once an MMO is released to the public, it no longer belongs to the developers, it belongs to the people paying $14.99 a month for the service."

Awful sqeeping generalization there....

Yeah, I used a macro. Up until dancing IV when I discovered I'd end up out in the street if I kept going long enough. I used a macro but was never AFK.

Since Dancing IV, I haven't even used a macro to free up my fingers. For someone who types 40-50 WPM, hitting a single button 10 times a minute is barely noticable to me. I made Master dancer entirely ATK with no macro assistance through the entire profession. (Alright, I'll rephrase that.. With no macros that involved a pause for longer than a single flourish. I had a few to do a flourish then an effect at just the right spot, or simple things like that, and a set of hotkeys for bandflourishes, which had to be made as macros - though that was used for performances, not for xp gain.)

I then went on to master the Musician profession, entirely ATK with no macro assistance through the entire profession.

I have since written a few macros for various performances, one of which will even loop under some circumstances and flourish. Want to know what it does? It takes my hitting F1-F8 and times the flourish to go right after my previous one. So if I keep hitting flourishes, it will keep looping and doing the flourishes I tell it. But as soon as I stop hitting flourishes, it stops looping.

I'm not asking for the removal of macros.. I'm just asking that people AFK for more than 15 minutes are auto-logged out even if running a macro. Right now, there IS an auto-logout, but a macro will get around it. I'm sure most people don't realize that seeing as how they never go AFK without a macro running. But I do. If I'm AFK, my character's butt is in a chair until I get back. When I go grab dinner I have often come back to find myself at the login screen.

Yes, there will always be people who work around the system. But right now it is the accepted norm. However it has never been accepted to use 3rd party programs. Doing so as an entertainer would be too much risk for too little reward. An entertainer to get decent XP has to be exposed to lots of people, one of which will eventually be clued in that they are AFK and will report them. They can avoid this by hiding somewhere, but the xp won't be nearlyas good, so there will be no reason for them to do that. Perhaps they could do some elaborate setup involving multiple characters. But you are getting so complex that most people won't be able to do it. It would be easier just to grab a combat medic and a few friends and grind on mind disease.

Thanks for coming, please try again.

Deal. I did it before, I'd gladly do it again if it meant the end of AFK entertaining. I'd do it twice or thrice over. I'd take that deal with a big smile on my face. That what you wanted to hear?

Ooh, you know I focused on him saying everyone macrod, and my mind never bothered to stop and comprehend what he was suggesting.

I'll take your deal and raise the stakes - make entertainer require twice the xp. I'd still go for it. Cause you know what? I had just as much fun as a novice as I do at a master. Just at master level I don't have to consider the trade-off between fun and xp. I can just go for pure xp.

You would piss off the hologrinders and buff bots more than anyone else with that. Not that I care about them (They want to impresonate NPCs, I'll give them just as much thought as I do the thugs around town.)

the reason I started this topic is because the amount of exp to just to make it to novice dancer takes 12 hours alone.

Seriously who could type /flo 1 than /flo 2 for the next 12 hours? I can only see zombies doing that

but again all the people starting the *liek omg nef da maciers!* or *AFK SUXXORS* are all master dancers and musicians. (or very angry people lol)

in reply to tiaga post.

You can turn off the auto afk if they did remove the turn off feature, players will just get a shoe box with a vibrator inside and put their mouse on top.

You type out /flo? Open your actions window and drag the flourishes to your hotbutton bar.

And the AFK flag is just a visual thing and has nothing to do with the idle connection boot that happens now.

As to the vibrating shoebox.. Well aside from that it would be a pain to setup, noisy, and likely to fall out of place, read what I said about "Yes I know people will still do it". A vibrator in a showbox qualifies as a 3rd party device to assist in unattended gameplay. So it would be a EULA violation, and so something that could only be done in private. (After all, a vibrator is something you use in private anyway.)

She's broken a violation ? What is that supposed to mean ? Maybe she broke a rule ? Wow... I guess it was bringing some smarts to these discussions. It seems to be against the etiquette here.

I was thinking about writing a paragraph about deleting all combat skills from the game as well, as I never fought battles without my armor equip macros, the macroed /kneel;/aim;/mindshot; start of combat or the hotkey for my pistol should anything come close. But then I realized that's indeed a deal. Start over fresh and without macroers ? Sure, why not. I have started my character over3 times, 2 beta wipes plus the wipe from beta to release. Every time she started as novice entertainer. Every time it was fun. I started another 3 characters on other servers just for looking at other professions. Trade another character-wipe for getting rid of the most unfun thing in the game ? I wouldn't want to make that deal because it's not my responsibility to provide an environment that is free of exploitive gameplay, but if it were the only choice, I'd be on next day happily dancing the night away having fun. Entertainers don't measure their fun in skill boxes.

I have never met Master Elite Entertainers that spoke like this. If you met someone like this, it was probably a Holotainer ex-BountyHunter/CH,ex-TKA/Rifleman or whatever is the "1337" combo du jour.

AFK macros r teh suxxor u break a violation 2 use them.

*cough* Sorry my english comprehension regressed for a moment there. It won't happen again, I swear.

And by the way, I'm a he not a she. Common mistake.. Good looking.. Twi'lek... Dancer... I can see where people get confused.

Now I'm just left to ponder what it means to "break a violation." I think I may add it to my signature when I figure it out. Sounds fun, whatever it is.
