Thread: a nonSOE fix to the afkmacrotainer hologrinders
- J
As for them thinning out, I think you underestimate the continued influx this game will experience, as well as the desire for those new players to achieve jedi. We'll be seeing AFK hologrinders for a long, long, LONG time to come, I fear.

So although we will have hologrinders in general for a long time, their ranks should thin out in a few months as people finish using the free holos we all stupidly got at Christmas time.

i /deny and /addignore all rude afkmacrotainer hologrinders ... if all entertainers do this and word gets out it will stop period... know why? cause on their next holo of BH or any combatant they will need us and wont want to not be able to be buffed or healed except by the one or two that don't do this (assuming they are even on)
The /deny probably won't work because you have to redo it every time.
I won't /addignore AFKers if they're quiet. I'm not particularly keen on them, but I'm fine with them grinding and leaving. But if I see a script going on with emotes and chat commands, then I will send a /tell saying, "Is that part of your macro?" If I get a response, then I let the person know that it's annoying and give him a chance to change his macro. If not, then I definitely /addignore.
All you anti-afk folks just need to get off your soap-boxes, really.
As evidenced by the post called something like "Yay, and thanks to all the AFK entertainers", there are 100% valid reasons to macro dance/music while AFK.
In the same vien, why don't we get rid of factories? Isn't that just Crafting professionals crafting while AFK? yeap.. better kill that. Oh, and while we're at it, get rid of the Politician and Merchant skills, too, as they don't do anything active at the keyboard to earn they're XP at all, so might as well just trash the entire thing.
Btw, I'm not a holo-chaser. I have a dancer oin Wanderhome that I love (Orib), but have no intention of chasing holo's there either; I like the profession for what it is. You know what else? I macro even while I'm there, as it clears me to chat, socialize, etc, without having to worry about what key to click next.
Just remember that your idea isn't suppirior just because it's yours. You're entitled to it, that's true, but please dont' expect everyone else to come in line just because "that's the way it should be". That's complete BS. If that were true, macro'ing wouldn't be an option.
Most importantly:
Get over it.

That's why I have a macro I run each time I log in, to rebuild my /deny list.

I rarely reply to posts such as this but I cant let your ignorance of professions go by without a comment.
Crafting professions that use factories do not, and I repeat do not use factories to grind exps. They are used primarily to create crates of items that are required in schematics to have identical serial numbers on each item. Also there is a very minimal amount of exps gained in using a factory not enough to get a skill box thats for **edit** sure.
As for the merchant skills the only way to get experience is by using the earned skills to get more experience and if you think a merchant isnt at their keyboard to set up venders and set fees or barking or customizing, then you are sorely mistaken.
I have two paying accounts my first a master dancer all experience earned sitting at the keyboard interacting with customers and hawking to get the people into the cantina. My second account is a crafter with the skills you know so little about. It took me months to earn master merchant.I literally spend hours each day working on my venders in some way or another. She was also a master architect which also took a long time because guess what factories dont give dink for experience no matter how close you stand to them.
As for this thread the only comment I can and will make is do whatever you feel you need to until SOE comes up with a better solution to AFK entertainers.
Or hey, make a politician. Don't work on the town, don't communicate with your townsfolk, don't be a city planner, just enter your name for office each week. Let me know how many terms of office you win without being there.
Those careers require WORK in order to succeed. Apparently ours does not.
Even putting all that aside, what you don't seem to grasp is that we're socializers. Take a bunch of cardboard cutouts of some cool looking people, go to a hotspot nightclub during the day when noone's there, place the cardboard cutouts in appropriate places on the dancefloor, the bar, etc. Now turn on the music and the lights. Crank it up. Do a few turns out on the dance floor. Having fun?
That's what we deal with every day. We want a happenin place to party in, only it's full of cardboard cutouts that look like real people, but aren't.
Are we on a soapbox? You bet we are. Is this only our opinion? Of course. Is it any more valid than anyone else's? Nope. Do we have a right to be on our soapbox shouting and shaking our fists to the heavens for what they've done to our beloved profession? Hell yes.
So no, we're not going to "get over it" as you suggest. We're going to fight this tenaciously with every fiber of our being, because there's something here worth fighting for, something that's unique to this game and that has all but died. You don't agree? That's fine, that's your opinion. You can take your place on the other side of the battlefield with all the cardboard cutouts. I hope they fight better than they dance.

first off no one has a problem with macros atk they are used by just about every entertainer... a band in fact is required to if they are going to make the song sound unique so they can get timming of individual flourishes.... as for your rediculous comment that there is a valid reason for afk macrotainers byt the posts... i say you must be a fool... where in the game guide does it say its your right to always have access to a entertainer to heal... no its our choice when and where we play but there is no need for atk ents if there is always an afk ent... you say you have a dancer and maybe you do (though i find it hard to belive after your post) but if you do its obvious you didnt grow up in the days of the cantina's of old when they were insaine fun. macroing is an option because it does serve a good purpose its just that these arses do not use it as intended. If it is you intention that people should have access to anything they want/ need whenever they want/ need it in game then i ask where is my clone system so that i can get a free pre nerf fwg5 krayt made gun... or those BE clothes i need... i dont want to have to interact with anyone to get it... i dont want to have to get to know a crafter or find one... that is what afkmacrotaining is... and yes it ruins our profession... if you can not see it then you are just a fool
as for that other post.... can you tell me how to rebuild my deny list?
