This is what a CSR said in regard to unattended macro-ing

http://ourworld.cs.com/kelisw/myhomepage/profile.html

[sorry about the cheesy page my FTP was not working and i just used a free page and copied this post to it for the heck of it. The only thing about the screenshot that has been tampered with is the blocking out of my name - i dont want to get griefed in-game from all the afkmacroers im about to enrage]

For those of you who seem to want to think that the macroes the eula is talking about is only in regard to other programs,I asked a CSR about it and i have a screenshot of their response. Basically he says that it is against there policy to use macroes for unattended gameplay but they arent enforcing it right now due to other priorities but that i can feel free to report them. I havent reported anyone yet but you guys who insist it is ok are dead wrong. And there are many who will report you.

I have been wondering why people even try to make excusesfor afk dancing. It doesnt matter WHY you do it - its in violation of the EULA -period. You are not supposed to do it. If you do you are breaking the rules plain and simple.

Ultima Online has a macro system very very similiar to this one. You can set up macroes for any action in game BUT they serverly and swiftly punish those who do it unattended. All anyone has to do is ask that person a question. If they dont answer they are reported. So just because you CAN doesnt mean you SHOULD. Its not OK because they have the macro system built in - the macro system is supposed to be used to make things easier and more convienient for you WHILE YOU ARE AT YOUR KEYBOARD.

Not only is it against policy but it has sucked the life out of cantinas, cheapened entertainers everywhere, steals healing xp and tips from those who really work for it, and the respect for master dancers everywhereis lessened, even those who actually worked for it.

As for those who say its a service - how many times have u looked up a medic to come to the med center when there was no one there. Its such a feeling of gratitude when one comes that i tip them better and try to make a new friend. Now imagine that there was a medic-bot in every med center and anytime you wanted to be healed u could just go walk in and they would automatically heal u free of charge and no trouble on your side. Sure it would be nice for you but can you imagine how that would feel to doctors? What it would do to the Doctor profession? They wouldnt get near as many tips, or tells asking them to come heal them, or respect from people who are grateful for your service. And they would loseSO much xp to the med-bot. Now THAT is exaclty what has happened to the entertainer profession. And its getting worse. The only way to stop it is to start reporting them.

Thank you, Seika. Good points. I think we will see some drastic changes in the game, very very soon.

It's coming. Watch for it. And the AFKers shouldn't let the cantina door smack them in the butts on the way out

Thank you so much for that Great post. i have never Afk'ed 1 minute and Became a master dancer the real way !

It took me a month of hard work , But I feel proud of the accomplishment. You are right about Afk Dancers ruining the profession, and this will get the ball rolling in the right direction.Finally.

Thank again Seika

I confess, i afk macro, for the 2 mins it takes me to dash to the bathroom and back, or to get a soda. Why would i rip off my customers by not being at my keys? I believe our base profession when i last checked (correct me if i am wrong) is ENTERTAINER, not macroer.

Yanno, i have to wonder why some people think its fun to pay $15 a month not to play. Why not just cut out the middle man and send me your $15 a month?

I ,too, made Master the hard way. It took me a bit more than a month of FL FL FL /ignore /ignore FL FL FL to get there. Those who AFK'd have missed out on some pretty terrific friendships, poor things. Many of those people I metearlyare still on my friends list. It's alsohow I met my husband Take a look at my bio *grin

I have also made several friends by being at my keyboard. Some who moved to another planet with me and my husband to start a PA. I would not trade these friends for anything. They are the greatest.

We still visit the old cantina but the main reason I don't go there much is all the afk dancers took the fun out of things.

i haven't done anything afk, as a matter of fact i'm not even a dancer(IRL g/f is =D) I just got to say one thing.

HTF did you get a CSR to respond to your ticket? lol. I mean i have put tickets in for many things, one of them being a disapearing large house. I replaced the house and deleted the ticket. but no one ever looked at it. i took about a month to save for a new one. so that's a while. Just wanted to marvel. guess they'll answer tickets if they actually want to do something about it huh?

I also filed an in game ticket the day I walked in to Coronet cantina on Corbantis to see 8 of 10 entertainers flying the AFK flag. I was told that they aren't enforcing it (the EULA) because the entertainers are making a trivial amount of experience and no money at all, and because it's very boring to stand there playing an entertainer character.

No, I'm not joking. I was also told to use the /report command and file a ticket to let them know about the report.

Luviana! Hello! This is your blue twilek friend from awhile back at the tyrena cantina

I wonder too what the afkers will do when they reach master - everyone will know they afk-ed there way there, they wont have as much respect (at least not from me) or friends from all of us who stayed in different cantinas making friends and learning the finer points of entertaining.

Im so glad to get these responses, thanks a ton! I was wincing and preparing to get flamed when i even saw i had responses. Im sure they will come though so i still have my fire extiguisher ready

As for the response from the CSR, thats the first time i EVER got a response from them lol. I had asked this question 4 or 5 times before because i wanted to know for sure, once and for all, if it was against the EULA or not since its been debated both ways so much.

Thanks again and good luck to everyone

Many of them end up surrendering their dancing skill. That which is gained without effort has no value.

*applause to Seika*

This is great news for those of us that have done this the right way. I danced my way to Master by being there and I can't count how many times people have told me to shut up and mind my own business when I have expressed my feelings about AFK-macros.

Just before they get to Master, they will also be running all over the place begging to train people for theapprentice XP. To me, that's just sad. I had all the apprentice xp I could use twice over once I reached master. I nearly always asked before teaching if anyone else needed the xp, too. *shrug*

I had a great time on the way to master dancer. I met hundreds of people and made a large number of friends. I wouldn't have missed a minute of it. Like many have already said, I don't understand why you'd pay NOT to play. For me, it's really been about the journey and not the destination.

I know this was posted to try and help the cause of Dancers/Entertainers who do not like AFK Macroers.

That being said I would like to clarify something; it is not a violation of the TOS, the EULA, or any other rule in SWG to use a macro and be AFK. The CSR in this case was mistaken in their answer, and it has been sent along to their supervisor so that the rules can be clarified for those CSRs who may be confused on the policy.

I wanted to make sure that everyone was aware that the policies do not state that it is a violation. I am not trying to encourage AFK macros just simply making sure the policies are understood since in this case it was incorrect.

Thank you!
