Only for the master dancers that have been a master for more than a month:

Question 1:

How much time do you spend per week ATK dancingordoing a dancing related activity?

Question 2:
What percent of your in game time is spent ATK dancing?

Note: Just being in the dancing animation doesn't count. Nor does running a flourish macro while you talkwith people.Someone has to be watching, or getting buffed, etc. Or you have to be actively practicing, or playing with it.. .flourishes, lights, etc.

Most of the time when loged in I am dancing or thinking about dancing. Even at times when I am with a hunting group if a camp goes up I'm dancing even if no one is injured. When Im not dancing I am usualy playing my mando and practicing songs on it.

Just out of curiosity, why is this question limited to Masters only?

I'm just wondering why the opinions of non-Masters are not valid.

Although, you're qualifying dancing as time being watched. Based on that definition, I'd estimate that 0.5% of my time is spent dancing. If you don't mind a non-Master's input.

I'm not solely an entertainer. I'm also TK and a smuggler dabbler with a full template not working on any skills at the moment. So, most of my gameplay is being used up by enjoying those professions that I have skills in. I'll spend about equal time on all 3 professions. About 1/3 of the time I'm out fighting, running missions, doing raids, etc. with my TK skills. About 1/3 of the time I'm trying to make a spice sell, buying resources, and running factories for my spice line with my smuggler skills. And, yes, about 1/3 of the time I'm actually dancing, full fledged at the keyboard dancing. Sometimes I'm selling mind buffs, sometimes I am not. In fact, I would say the last two or three days I have been fully focussed on dancing because it's just what I felt like doing. And, considering I'm insane and play about 40 hours a week, that means I'm probably dancing about 13 of those hours. So, 13 hours a week I'm dancing, and I'm dancing 33% of my gameplay time, all 100% ATK.

Now, you said macro's and chatting doesn't count. Why? Granted, I RARELY run macros, I prefer to do things off the cuff. But running a well-thought out performance macro that you've spent time on perfecting because it looks good and goes well with a certain song should count. But, you also said at least one person has to be watching, which is almost always the case anyway.

I want the new-ness factored out of the equation. Dancing has plenty of appeal to get you there... but does it keep you there? And no, people don't HAVE to be watching, but if no one is watching you have to be actively dancing (manual flourishes, lights, or setting up dance macros).

Do Dancers who have no interest in advancing (skill point limit and such) count as Masters for purposes of the survey? I know some Dancers who are not Masters and care for XP about as much as a Master does.

Actively dancing....I'd say I spent about 2% of my time doing that. Again, if non-new non-Masters count.

1) Well I'm not a master on Bria, but back when I was on Intrepid, I became a master in the first week of September. I'd have to say out of the 50-60hours I played a week, at least40 per week were servicing the patrons in some capacity: be it actively skill animating in a cantina (live of course), or near venues that could call on me if neccissary. About 35% of the time I usuallyselected cities where the mission terminals were in close proximity to the cantinas, like Bela Vistal, Dantooine Imperial Outpost, Nym's Stronghold, and Wayfar. I would often do missions solo while being on call from others that were doing missions. About 35% of other times, I was in the grind capitals: Theed, Coronet, Bestine working out of the hotels 60% of the time, and on the cantina floor 40% of the time. About 20% of the time I was in player cities, again, doing service on call about 50% of the time, and the other 50% of the time actively dancing in the cantina waiting for a customer to come inside. The remaining 10% of the week I was at player events, where I was paid from 10k to 500k to perform some set materials for roughly 3-5 hours.

2) On an average day, I would spend roughly 40% of my time dancing. Out of this time, 40% ofit waswaiting for customers. However, out of all the hours I played--including those times I was in the field--I could say I was "on call," or available if I got a /tell from someone saying "can u dance 4 me." The only times I would not is if I was waiting for something like a tailor to complete my order, if I was in combat, or if I had some other obligation that needed to be done before I could dance.

I've been a Master Dancer for several months now, and I spend about 5% of my in game time actually dancing. I seem to spend most of my time doing guild work, decorating or planning events. I LOVE dancing, and I really miss it.....

A1: I refuse to answer this question because I would have to admit how much time I spend in game... which is entirely too much.

A 2: Most of my time in game is spent Dancing... I dance at the Starport, I dance during guild meetings, I dance if a hunt is slow and no one will yell at me, I dance at Player Events, I dance in my PC Cantina whether anyone is there or not, I dance in NPC Cantinas to hang out with newer Ents and Teach or buff if anyone needs them, I keep my tag on so I also dance whenever someone calls me, I dance in tents through hunts anytime one is dropped, sometimes I go dance for PvP fights but I have to really be careful with this one because I have imp and reb friends and am a whole lot of neutral(my guild doesn't PvP or have bases).

I don't AFK because it does damage our economy and I don't want to hurt other dancers... I do understand that not everyone has my same motivations.

Soooo, if I'm not on a bike or shooting something, I'm ATK dancing. That's like 90% of the time maybe?

This does not mean that I am "performing" all of that time or healing... I do both whenever I have an opportunity or others have the need, but most of my time is spent dancing whilechatting and being a typical spaz.

Anyway, to answer your questions, being also a Novice Fencer and working on Master CH, I'd have to say that I spend about 40-50% of my online time Dancing. I dance on hunts, in camps, If a lair is being destroyed and I don't need the XP, I dance as I wait. If people are discussing what to do next I dance. At starports waiting for the next shuttle I dance (even though people know they don't get any healing, they still watch me).I dance in cantinas all over the universe to heal and to buff.

As to being AFK, I'd have to say that... oh, I've spent about... um, 100% of my dancing career at the keyboard, not counting bio breaks.

No, read... "or..."

Two ways I really consider people dancing:

1) Someone needs healed/buffed, so you starting dancing. This works for me.

2) You start dancing, then hit a flourish either with you yourself watching the dance, or someone else watching the dance. If you just /startdance, /startmy flourish macro, and then /start chatting , and never really once look at your character and no one else is... that doesn't count.

Mycharacteris a master dancer and a master medic who is also working towards TKN. Never-the-less, most nights you can find me (and a few others)dancing my little footies off in the Bishop's Sanctuary, with or without music or customers. I would say that I spend a good 80% of my ingame time or more dancing.

How many players have characters that have a secondary or even atertiary profession? How much time do they spend on their core profession, be it tailor, bounty hunter or whatever? What about people who only have a few hours a week to play the game? Does it matter to anyone? No . . . so why does it matter how much time entertainers spend entertaining ingame? I guess I just don't understand the purpose of this "poll".

my afk buff macro runs about 20 hours a day. i've healed enough in the last 2 months to hit the 500k EH cap. my cantina is generally populated with people watching or getting buffed from about 8am pst to about 3am pst although there are often people there until server reset. During the day i would say that there is an average of an hour or two where there is not at least 1 person in The Mind Pool at which time i busily take care of vendors and tailoring. I'm not totally afk, i tend to spend about 6 hours throught the day socializing with my customers on and off and a lot more on weekends.
