Thread: Take the Live Act to the Hotels!
This would be great, if players had a good way to know to go to the hotels in the first place...
The lack of a useful way to advertise staffed locations has been mentioned several times on the forum, so I won't go into specifics here. What it all comes down to is that most players are conditioned to head to the cantina and not the hotels. The last thing live performers want is to stand alonein an empty building looking at the walls.
Back in the day, the Moenia hotel on Kauri was the place to be. We even had mouse droids named "entertainment in the cantina" rolling around the cantina to let people know where we were!
It's been a while since you could find a large enough group of atk entertainers to do that. I'm hoping it'll become possible again once holocrons are no longer needed for Jedi. 
the theatre is also a nice alternative... especially if your city has a player theatre that's probably been sitting there gathering dust
once raven, n'jessi and i got some use out of raven's theatre, and had a small audience to boot now if they would let us decorate the outside of the theatre, it would be great (edit: just some silly little errors O.o)

This is a great idea, and I would love to entertain in the theaters from time to time. The only problem, as mentioned, is reconditioning the playerbase to know they can go there in the first place. As with any great idea that is come up with on the forums in any online game, it's extraordinarily hard to change the entire mindset of the ingame community. It almost never works, unfortunately. The only way things like this do work, is when it is picked up by the devs, and they actually provide ingame tools and encouragement to make it happen. I couldn't even begin to think of how they could do that. I mean, even with better advertisement tools, I have a feeling most people would still go into the Cantinas and the afk'ers would still get all the business, while the "true" entertainers are left by themselves in the theaters. Sometimes it does work, though. If you have enough ambition, and trust me, it takes a lot, and you can find a regular "band" to play in the theater at specific times that people can count on, with actual synchronized performances and songs,word of mouth will spread, and you might just find yourself with a regular clientele. But, as I said, this takes a lot of work. I can think of one group that is actually doing a great job of building a real clientele on Kettemoor, and I've been to a few of their performances. I was kind of amazed to actually see so many people watching and enjoying their shows. As far as I know, they don't have specific times and places, but word of mouth has definitely spread about them. People actually come from across the galaxy to see their performances. So, it's definitely possible.
I, for one, would be happy to perform in the theaters on a regular basis if I knew people would be there to watch, though.
I agree. It will take hard work and word of mouth.
What that means is a good number of live entertainers first need to be gathered up. Then, a location must be choosen. Probably Coronet or Theed Hotels at first.
Then one of the live entertainers needs to be at the cantina telling people that the Live entertainers are at the hotel. Sometimes people come in asking "Are there any live entertainers here?". Just respond, "No, they're at the Hotel" and send them the waypoint. Entertainers can swap out this job every 15-30 mins.
This will take time. Maybe a week? But eventually, and hopefully, regulars will be showing up at the hotels. And, if they are grouped or forming a group, they'll bting their friends, etc. etc.
I for one am willing to try this. I was at an event last weekend where 7-8 dancers and 3 musicians showed up. ALL of them were happy to dance with live players again. I'm going to be suggesting this to them.

This is just the sort of thing that we at LIVE have been wanting to get happening on Ahazi. Why don't we try to get a brainstorming meeting together this weekend for those of us interested?
I'll propose Saturday at 4:00 edt / 1:00 pdt, in Twin Rivers, Talus at the LIVE Guildhall (5684 -1060)... plenty of room to meet there. Anyone interested in putting our heads together to finda way to reinvigorate live performances, come on down!

Sounds good to me! More performers who care about what we're doing means a better playing environment for all entertainers, IMO. Come on over!
