Thread: Macroed Singing, Bad?

Hi y'all

I just wanted to know if it is poor form to sing a song while dancing. One one hand, it spams the spatial screen which is quite annoying. On the otherhand, it's pretty fun singing songs with certain dances. For example, I sing Safety Dance doing lyrical. I don't spam it over and over and I have several songs and dances that I do. My compilation on songs are increasing with each passing day. I don't spam the songs back to back, but I do sing a song once or so every hour. WHat's your opinion on macroed songs with dance moves?

i would say it's ok if you're atk, and you only use it once in a while

i have spent a lot of time getting song macros just perfect. i on occasion will use them. but i get annoyed if they're done really badly without any pasues and if they just keep going. just hit the button, let it run. don't do it again.

I think a macroed song that isn't looped is fun, no one would even have to know it was a macro as long as you aren't looping. I've never done songs, but I really like to watch other ents who do them well. For the most part, patrons really seem to get a kick out of them.

Last time I sang a song I got punched in the face. But then again it was Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice while I danced to Poplock2. Heh I guess I need to adjust the moves to fit the song. But I'm having fun with it none the less

On occasion, a Musician proposes a Singer profession or a Sing skill. Why not let the Singer confer a temporary boost to some Resists or armor rating or something? Of course, there's the small matter of just what a Singer would do, and what lyrics he or she would sing. But after eight months of playing Virtuoso, on occasion I do wish I could grab a mic and roleplay one of the greats -- you know, Domingo, Pavarotti, Sinatra, Elvis, Manilow, Spears.

Ha!

I still think a singing prof would be cool... either way, text or "blah blah blah" (not real singing, you know, made up game language)... it could be really flashy, I hope they consider adding it with the new profs. I do so love flashy. *sigh*

Personally I don't think it is a bad thing if done well and used at the appropriate time. My full views on this and experiences are already in this thread where someone asked the same question. Hope it helps

WEll first of all, i dont like macros that much, but if your at the keyboard macroing, then go ahead and sing a song once in a while, just dont go afk and leave a macro that involves singing

I think they're highly entertaining, especially if you make up parodies of songs to fit the SWG universe. When I was mastering dancer (the first time, ha!) there was a wookiee who was mastering musician, and to keep us entertained he would make up parodies of songs on the spot. My all-time favorite was "Vader Went Down to Tatooine" (Devil Went Down to Georgia). It was priceless... "Mynock in the breadpan picking out dough... Granny, does your worrt bite? No, child, no..."

Ok, the necro posting is out of control, but... omg ha! I bet that was a scream!

(I like the parodies best too, they fit in well enough not to ruin immersion, but you still know the tune.)

I saw a macro'd song performance yesterday. Overall it was nice, due to the novelty factor, unfortuantly with custom words, I had no idea what the tune-line was supposed to be, even with a band playing in the background. It broke immersion since it came out as somebody reading a report to me, with music in background.

If I'd recognized the lyrics/tune, I could have put it to the music, and imagined it being sung.

The other issue, was it semaed like each line had a /pause 4 after it, no matter how long or short the preceeding section was. Now that I think of it, it felt like reading something on 300 baud modem.

Damm, reading this is comes out sounding really harsh, I hope the performer doesn't see this, I did love it, just the technical limitations where an issue.

in a word, its bad. It might be 'entertaining' for you or even the other entertainers your grouped with, as long as it isnt over done, but for the majority of the people that just come to a cantina because the must to heal up their mind and fatigue before 5they head out to grind some more combat xp its just another anoyance. Just more spam to make their conversations harder to stay on top of, relegating them to /tells or group chat and adding to lag.
