Thread: Macroed Singing, Bad?

Speaking from a roleplayer's perspective, I find the singing of tunes from the modern day to totally ruin the cantina atmosphere for me. A twi'lek singing Billy Joel tunes is ridiculous, and the thought of anyone remembering Britney Spears or any of the 'boy bands' in 20 years is a horrifying thought.

That being said, a few well placed, or parody lyrics might not be so bad... but anyone who loops a song in a macro should be shot on sight... repeatedly.

In a word (or five), that's a matter of opinion.

I like it. I think it's fun. I have Weird Al's "The Saga Begins" macro'd... it still needs tweaking where the pauses are concerned, but it's lots of fun, fits right into the SWG universe and people seem to enjoy it.

My opinion is it depends on the situation.

In a macrotainer cantina, looped in a macro, it's bad. The entertainers that are ATK will just /addignore the person, so if they ask for help or training they won't get it. The players that come in may do the same. I just find it's a good way to be ignored.

Now, if it's done live, not in a macro, accompanied by a relavent dance and special effects, it's amazing! I saw one just this weekend at an event. The dancer ran up on stage and started her performance. At the end she not only got a standing ovation but was asked for an encore. She did three songs, all original works. Me and a few other dancers were there at the event as entertainment as well, but we totally bowed out to let her perform.

It depends entirely on the situation. I will say Macro'd singing really helps just, if anything, you are trying to get the timing down fairly good. All that said, if you are just looping the same song over and over(especially while afk) or the song itself is offensive or inappropriate, you probably will get a lot of complaints.

But if you are just saying tossing in a song every once in awhile, there is nothing wrong with macroing at all. It just all depends

What's problematic is that the music doesn't really sync up... I know this for a fact because my fiance and I have computers in the same room. He would be listening to me play and after a few bars the music coming out of his speakerswould be a good flourish out of sync with mine. So I could think that my singing was timed with my flourishes - but it wouldn't sound that way to the audience. BAH!

I could care less about being in sync with anything else going on in the cantina... I just think it's funny.

Looping macros, however... people who use those need to die. Repeatedly.

I would like to start my post by saying that I've seen some singing performances that just made me roll! I have enjoyed a few, but just a FEW! As an at key performer I can't think of very many things that are more annoying then having my spatial clogged up with singing. No offense intended, this is just my personal view, but I have to tell ya that no matter what, if you're singing in a public cantina with no event going on, you hit my ignore list until your songs end.
