They are actually giving dancer some content!! We can't have that!

Interaction? Whaaaaat? You mean dancers want to actually chat? Never, not on my watch, unless my watch has some sort of cantina-buffing feature.

Here's what we do, we give entertainers negative buffs, it'll make them all in demand, and people wouldn't complain!

NEW Ent Buff Ideas....

Passive...

...a buff that adds duration to the puke animation for spices.

...+204 to Dexterity

...a buff that changes your melee weapon into a rubber chicken

...dual chicken wielding buff

...subtracts 100,000 credits from your bank account every time your character says the letter "E"

Profession Specific....

Architect

...house/factory/harvester storage reduction 10%

...increased complexity by 15%

...increased critical fails by 15%

...adds purple with velvet interior merchant tents to be made

Armorsmith

...adds 10% resource quality to the 'flavor' resource stat

...increased complexity by 15%

...increased critical fails by 15%

...adds a brighter pink color to the palette

...makes pink the only color on the palette

Artisan

...modifies the ability to experiment on artisan food to 200%

...increased complexity by 15%

...increased critical fails by 15%

...increased resource quality 50%

Bio-Engineer

...reduces the character level by 11 points

...increased complexity by 15%

...increased critical fails by 15%

...allows BE's to sample dancer's DNA, to be later used in creating one's own buffbot.

Chef

...reduces 'duration' experimentation on foods 100%

...increased complexity by 15%

...increased critical fails by 15%

...replaces every food and drink icon with that of the canape

...allows chefs to toss a pie at themselves

Merchant

...reduced vendor management by 20%

...removes one item from your vendor 'for sale' every time you say the letter "E"

...adds a character 'flash', increasing packet loss by 15%

Shipwright

...removes all viable skills, replacing them and your character to a human-tiger mix

Tailor

...these buffs do not apply to you

Weaponsmith

...reduces all experimentation bonus from resources to zero, for fear that weaponsmiths would all be the same, crafting perfect 100% items

...increased complexity by 15%

...increased critical fails by 15%

...increased chance to amazing success on rubber chicken efficiency.

Droid Engineer

...enables you to craft a new special version of mouse droids that cannot have any droid modules or armor modules installed

...Only one type of droid craftable while inspired: Special Mouse Droid.

Creature Handler

...Pets will no longer obey the Creature Handlers command.

...Reduce chance to tame babies by 100%

I like these, they're fun.

[edit] Serious idea! How about a buff that increases or decreases hate generated by your attacks?

LOL, time to start up the factory! Most MSE's I make are module-less right now, I haven't started making bomb droids, and I'm not 12 pt. either.

But the hate buff is a great idea!

You should start a thread about ideas for better buffs.

I dont want to have to rely on a entertainer in game and dont think its fair that someone else can just listen to an entertainer and do just as good as me when I worked hard to get were I am at spending over 20 million on resources and lots more credits on loot.

How would you like it if people could do the entertainer professions and not even be at the computer.. wait that is the entertainers biggest problem isnt it, its the same with us, having people who are not willing to put in the neccesarry work and being able to do just as good.

Look--I'm a Master Droid Engineer, I feel your pain. And a little more. I'm also working on SW. And merchant. I agree completely.

I do feel, however, that entertainers need a way to be extremely useful, like the pre-CU mindbuffs were. This is not the way though. I was happy with being a lower-end DE.

While I understand the issues with the resource quality buff and can sympathize up to a point with those crafters who spent months and years collecting the very best resources, I am also sick and tired of hearing people not wanting to "have to rely on entertainers, WAAHHHH!!!"

Guess what, SWG has been built on the interdependency of professions. This is the foundation of the game's design, you could say. No one character is entirely self-sufficient. This becomes especially clear if you're a combat profession: you rely on WS's for your damage output, on AS's for your protection, on Chefs for buffs, etc etc.

And nobody at all has a problem with that. Or can you imagine a rifleman saying "I dont want to have to rely on aweaponsmith in game and dont think its fair that someone else can justget a high-dps rifleand do just as good as me when I worked hard to get were I am at spending over 20 million on rifle-speed and damage SEA's just so my newbie-issue CDEF has a dps of 520."

(yes, that's a highlyexaggerated example )

Entertainers were taken out of that loop of interdependency with the CU, which considering our skill point investment (106 points to Master - more than a WS in fact, if you don't count the admittedly helpful sampling and merchant skills) was a damn injustice and a crying shame.

And now we're getting it back, which is about damn time if you ask me - took them long enough - only to get the usual jerks whining about how they don't want to rely on entertainers.

Tough luck. Get over it.

Yes but then, how do you make entertainers "extremely" useful? Granted, the resource quality buff is somewhat problematic, but at least it fits the description. And I think anything that fits this description would somehow negate the advantage that somebody out there had before the new buffs, leading to the obligatory complaining.

As for me, I kinda like the suggestion someone else has brought forward here: instead of affecting resource quality, let it affect resource usage. Make crafters use 10% less of their resources when inspired. That would be a much better and less controversial buff effect. But would it be "extremely useful"?

Ya I apologize, went a little over the top. I have come to terms with having to go see a entertainer for different things like battle fatigue and other types of combat related things.. it is a major pain for me though since my computer is slow and the only reliable places to find entertainers are places like the theed cantina.

It usually takes me an hour or so to go in and out of the place since my computer pretty much dies on me every time I go. I could get a personal entertainer and ask someone to meet me at the cantina in a specific place and offer a large sum of money but that is a huge hastle. I remember back preCU that I wouldnt go get mind buffs cause by the time I went to coronet or theed and out to hunt my buffs would be ready to run out.

Well, it should be noted that the new buffs cannot be AFKed by legal (i.e. ingame) means. So you'd have to find an ATK entertainer for them.

While in the short run this may make it more difficult for the customers, needless to say we're quite happy about it. And it's an opportunity for us to educate our customers in the art of Finding A Live Entertainer (tm).

Many galaxies (Kettemoor where you seem to come from included) have entertainer chat channels where ATK ents hang out. Esharra recently started a new thread listing them per server. My advice would be to get on that channel and just ask around when you need a buff. In Kettemoor especially there's a lot happening in player cities, it's a really great server for finding ATK ents

Chances are you won't even have to go to one of the lag-centers like Theed or Coronet, and also won't have to pay through your nose for it. Offer them a weapon for their combat alt or something. You're a businessman, do business with them

And in time you'll get to know most of them, making it even easier for you to find a buff (and you might even make a few new friends ). It's all a matter of building connections, which a crafter should be used to do anyway (at least more so than a combatant).

Good luck!

P.S.: resource boost has been lowered to 2% from 10% on TC, according to the latest reports. Bit lowmaybe (IMO 5% would have been perfect, 10% was way too much), but oh well. There's still the assembly and experimentation buffs, those are nice too

It was funny reading all the way to the 13th page in the buff alert thread thing, eventually around page 9 or 10 all the dancers started getting REALLY bored with the subject and just started dismissing the merchants and their tales of woe. Esh was a little more, uh... compulsive(?)then I'm used to seeing her, but it was almost intirely called for.

We're all getting sick of all the complaining it seems, I remember when (not too long ago) the dancer forum was nothing but complaining, it's alot nicer here again. I'm happy.

And I own the booboo thread, they made it too easy, hehehe...
