Jedi Dancer Abuse and I am not talking about Jedi Dancers!
Ok, so I am upset and guess I am just venting.
I am so sick and tired of 12 year olds that have enough free time that they have to go and become Jedi in SWG. I am tired of being yelled at by Jedi, I am tired of having Jedi disrupt cantinas for them to come inside and do their "thing". I am tired of walking in and out of starports and seeing Jedi hanging around like a pack of homeless. All they need is some "will lightsaber for XP" signs. I am sick and tired of this game having a near 50% Jedi population!! Geeze.
Look, I don't hate Jedi. Iam upset bypeople that haven't a clue how to play a Jedi vis-a-vi the movie setup of the game (i.e. they go around with their Jedi tag turned on all the time) and I especially am upset by those 12 year olds (and I really do think they are 12 years olds so, I do try to let it go.) that act so immature, selfish and demanding that it impacts my game play.
Ya, know, there are a lot of great Jedi in this game. There are a lot of people that struggle very hard to play a Jedi within the time line setup by the game or along many other lines that one would expect from a Jedi. I appreciate those players and thank them for enhancing my game play. But, its those other annoying Jedi that are just helping to ruin the game for me as a dancer. Great they made Jedi so now they become a school yard bully invading cantinas demanding that I stop dancing becuase it "lags" them, making degrading comments about my costume, spamming their special effects if I "dare" use one of my own. All this in a cantina no less. Its not just one Jedi, it is becoming a consistent issue and it is really bugging me.
Maybe the answer is we need like 3,000% more bounty hunters, sadly, I don't think there actually can be an answer to the problem of immature players.

Face it guys..this is a game. And as such, it is going to draw children to the playerbase. The only way to play an MMO and avoid children is either to limit your play to an area in the game world where children don't visit (such as anadults only guild or player community), or play games that don't have the competitive elements that children enjoy (such as SL, ATitD or There).
I roleplay a street entertainer who dances and plays music in front of the Theed starport (on Chilastra and Kauri). I see a lot of jedi. I talk to them, they talk back.Sometimes kids are annoying (I don't have any of my own, by choice..sometimes they are very annoying). I don't react to them with a lot of drama. Maybe that's why they don't harass me.

Death_Blossom, I think one of us has misunderstood what people were trying to say in their responses to you. And I hope it was you. I thought they were trying to tell you not to let those other people ruin your fun rather than "flaming" you for complaining. If I'm the one who missed the message then I can only say "Quoi?"
Unfortunately I don't think the mature playstyle vs the immature is a product of age. There seem to be quite a few out there who are college-aged but can't quitegrasp the idea that there are actually other people in this game who are trying to have fun. They have dramatically over estimated their own importance and I can only hope they get so bored with the game that they do leave or that they finally graduate and find themselves with far less free time.

I have a jedi... and a dancer. I've known young players who arevery mature for their age and older players who are extremely immature. In my experience it has had nothing to do with professions,but the players of those professions. That being said, a lot of the jedi I've met are immature, lol... but the majority are not young, they just act immature for their age.

A polite query about whether they're playing on an outdated system or just never learned how to tune down particle effects can keep them quiet for a bit while they marinate in angry embarrassment. Failing that, perhaps gathering some other entertainers around to outnumber them and carrying on like they don't exist will work; they'll probably get bored when the dancers don't play their game and go elsewhere to pick on someone else.
If they want to complain about lag, smack them with /colorswirl a few times to give them something to complain about.
There have always been school yard bullies being cantina snerts in this game on every server, and they're not limited to any profession.I agree there isn't much of an answer to the problem of hyperactive, ill-behaved little snerts in this game unless you can arrange for some social punishment.
I agree: If you do not speak up, who will? And if someone flames someone else just for offering an opinion about something that's important to you, that speaks volumes about the flamer, doesn't it?

Ok, you didn't get flamed. People, including myself, were trying to comfort you and say nice things to you - not say your opinions were stupid.
You had people from all sides trying to help you feel better. If that's flaming, please can I have some?
