I only meant the one thread as that was the only one I'd read. I'm not doubting that you were flamed in any post discussing dualprops. That comes back to the "it's all about me" types again.

As for the new buffs.. that's a complicated topic indeed because there are a lot of hidden traps. Even for entertainers like myself who did choose this profession because we wanted a support role, I think there's a lot to still be worked out. I'm not bouncing with too much excitement after seeing some of the posts from crafters. But I also know that there are plenty of entertainers out there, like you I'm guessing, who want to be an entertainer for the entertaining and performance arts aspect. Having a buffing game isn't what you want and I think you're perfectly right to express that. There can be no doubt that one size fits all doesn't apply to the entertainer professions. I periodically see Panthu and others talk about "mini-games" for the cantinas and I actually cringe when I read it. For whatever reason that whole idea appeals to me about as much as talking about clothes and make-up. It's just not my thing. But as long as I can continue to do my thing, I'll gladly stand up and support your fun too. If you feel you need to take a break I can certainly understand that. I've retired for a brief time from cantinas in the past as well. Often it allows you the time and space to refocus on what makes this a fun diversion. But if you have a concept for the entertainer professions that you think would appeal to other "non-buff game" entertainers then I don't think you should let the current focus of Pub 23 push you away. I suspect this won't be the be all and end all of entertainers. I could be wrong.. heck I thought we were healers so clearly I'm well outside the knowledge loop.

edit: sorry I've been throwing my props at people too frequently I guess. *duel props are for a later publish.......

LOL, I am still laughing. Wait, don't you have to HAVE kids in order to say that?
Thanks for brightening my day!

having a little brother also counts. I've done my fair share of babysitting if only those other moms would stop thinking I'm Alex's mom when I take him to Disneyland and give me sympathic glances

Ha! Maybe if we ever get Juggler, lol.

Also, I'm sorry you have to cringe when I mention mini-games. That's kind of a bummer to read, but I understand where you are coming from. The "not Healer" thing blew me away too, I've just had longer to deal with it I think. I'll tell you what I told Castaspella though: you might want to push the Spy thing, I really do think it has a chance.

Not as talked about, but the Juggler/Acrobat thing is real. We know the mo-caps exist. It is totally possible that it could come in one day as an "Action Ent." They are weird about talking about it though, so who knows when/if it will ever happen.

As Eshie says though, mo-caps are expensive and it's hard to believe they want to waste them. Which is also why I think the dual weaps will happen as soon as they have a chance toget them in. We've seen the mo-caps, we know they've got them.

It's not that having mini-games would be a disruption for me so maybe my post sounded harsher than it was intended. It's the same feeling I had when many entertainers were pushing to have props. They just weren't really something I was interested in and reading how excited people seemed to be about the idea just added to the "I must be an alien" sensation. It's like going to a shop and havingmy friends oohhing and ahhhing over a handbag. I just stand there thinking "I'm sure there's something really interesting about that bag but for the life of me it just looks like a big, ugly purse." Anyway,I've lost the drive to really push for much of anything any more. I already dropped most of the entertainer skills on my other characters and am replacing them with doctor or going with a double combat template instead. I've considered dropping dancer on my favorite character but for now I still enjoy the "me" time with it.

Ok, so you don't think any purses are cute? Or is it something deeper like you resent the fact that females aren't expected to have pockets in our clothes and we're supposed to carrybig ugly sacks that give us back problems? Lol. I can kinda relate, I mean, I'm pretty girly-girl, but I play games, work in a male dominated industry, and kept my last name on principle when I got married - so, I buck the system when it comes to female pigeon holing pretty often too, but...

I opted in for it with Dancer. Irl I was born with all the trappings of being female, but in games I am usually left feeling out of place because they are sooooo male oriented. I totally admit, I love the girly pretty aspects of Dancer. I like having a prissy outletwith mycombat game.

I'm all for male Dancer inclusion and getting our boys some clothes and dances that are geared towards them, but even someone playing a male char is most likely being attracted to something sensual or glamorous about it if they pick up Dancer.

Dancer is like a cute purse, I think that's a huge part of the charm though. I'm a little confused if you are saying you don't like that aspect of it. If that's the case, then what were you getting out of it pre-CU that couldn't have been done just as well by picking up Doc and healing/buffing in the hospitals? I'm not attacking, I'm sincerely asking. It never even occurred to me that anyone wouldn't like the pretty parts of Dancer and want more of them if they were a poster in here.

I mean, I actually said things like "oh, we all want props" and "all Dancers want more clothes"... if that's not the case, I may have to rethink some things I say now. I always knew that wouldn't be enough for a lot of us by itself, but I never thought these things were not wanted at all by any of us. I thought all of us wanted these things, just some of us wanted them in addition to the meatier stuff.

I just can't imagine playing this prof if the pretty wasn't sucking you in, I mean, it's pretty much all we've ever had. *blinks*

I can understand Ikewe.

I was one of the only dancers that made it a point of principle during the "falls fiasco" to dance barehanded, and fall with as much enthusiasm as I could.

And as a result, I always associated props as "crutches." I learned to work without them then, and I have learned to work without them now.

But I never in a million cycles would I ever think that some here would actually miss holding all manner of violent death, when they were no longer needed to prevent falls. It goes to show that I must be "out of touch."

I'll tell you this, though. Sirii Ajaan doesn't need to dance with items.

Not then, when all the other dancers pushed knives in my hand when I fell and said "whoops...darn floors."

And not now, either. When every two-bit spammy macro-diva is holding those things.

It's an excellent question actually and I don't feel attacked at all. When I first created a character in SWG my goal was Master Dancer and Master Doctor. I wanted to be a complete healer. That's what drew me in to being a dancer. It wasn't about the pretty at all. Dancing was the tool I used to heal. Just as my rifle is the tool I use to kill. I still took pride in creating what I thought was a good looking dance (thus the particular dances and flourishes I just won't perform) and I still took care in selecting an outfit. And don't get me wrong. It's not that I don't "like the pretty things." They just aren't something that I would have asked for and they aren't something that makes me want to be a dancer. I choose my armor color so that it's something that appeals to me. I paint my vehicles. But having colored armor isn't what made me chose rifles and painting my vehicle doesn't make me want to explore. Having props and fancy dresses doesn't make me want to dance.

Now of course the question becomes, why in the world am I still a dancer when there's no healing and really no actual support role left? And to be honest I don't have a good answer because the frilly things still don't really do much of anything for me. I'm the odd fit here and I don't have any problem with you saying "we all want props and clothes". I'm willing to bet that I might indeed be the only one who would never have asked for props. As I've said before it's possible this profession really isn't for me. I chose the profession described on the box I bought and it's really what I want. I may end up using the token respec and picking up doctor instead. It seems to now be the only profession left that really fills that support role that I have always wanted. The only reason I haven't done so already is because with doctor you don't really get "me" time.

by the way, purses aren't cute. They are just a convenient way to carry something when you don't have pockets.

I know some very mature younger players and some very immature older players. Some are Jedi, some are Jedi wanna-bes/hangers onand some are just regular players. Some of my best friends are Jedi. But being a Jedi tends to bring out the worse in some players, then again so does being a BH, or a CM. I'm sure we all know both good and bad in every profession.

That being said, I hate that we have to be in a player cantina so that those who come to watch us can enjoy the performance without being harassed by immature players seeking attention (negative feedback is a form of attention).

Perhaps we can use public opinion, when the clowns start in with their shenanigans - walk out. That's what you do to a child that is having a temper tantrum, you walk away. When they realize that they are not the center of attention eventually the majority of them willstop. Of course they could find some new ways to act out but it's a start.

If we walk out, those who truly want the buff or want to watch our performance may well follow us. Being left alone often enough may work for many of these, for lack of a better word, "kiddies." Although you could run into the player who finds it ego boosting to be disliked by the general population and if you haven't....you're very lucky.

Is there a solution? I doubt it but we can be supportive of each other.

Maybe try MCM/MDancer/Novice Rifleman... I think that might be something you'd like. Then you could drop any Dancer you didn't want one box at a time and pick up more Rifles. You could end up MR/MCM/Novice Dancer, but it would let you feel it out that way.

I don't carry a purse irl. I have a Coach keychain wallet I use most of the time that holds my cards, license, and one Chanel lipstick. It is most definitely cute though. I carry a back pack if I really have to have the space, but I won't do the big purses, they creep me out.

Except, if they chase us out of our preferred venu, they win.

Of course the same thing is happening when we do private cantinas instead of our preference of public ones.... But at least there is no frustration on our part then.
