Your thoughts needed - Should group buffs go bye bye until the EU? (EU being the entertainer upgrade).
I have been thinking about this a lot lately and I think this would be a huge step towards making entertainer a more in demand skill to take up. Right now it is possible for one character to tend 20 players at once. If that one entertainer could only buff one player at a time the other entetrainers around them could also see a benefit. This would also I think lead to those player entertainers with skill tapes finding that the amount they could command for a buff would rise as the entertainer buff became a little more rare.
The jist of how this would work is simple - Remove the group buff ability and change to /setperformance only.
Discuss pros and cons please

Good question.
Personally I don’t think they should remove it, because there are legitimate reasons for buffing in group....
If I’m the only one buffing and more then one person needs a buff....
If group walks in ready for a hunt together and all they missing are mind buffs....
If I’m out hunting with a group and a scout pitches a camp for me to rebuff the group....
I guess I would say my main reason for liking to be able to buff a group is when the group hunts together (not solo-groups, the real groups where they actually work together). Because with even a small group of 6 or so the one who was buffed first will loose their buffs way before the one who was last.
With dance and music it’s almost 7 minutes per person times 6 is 42. hmm actually it’s 35 since I can’t buff myself
What I would like much better would be if while using /setp the buffing stays same but if group-buffing it takes lot longer, maybe 10 minutes or so per buff, so technically the group will still have a same time left on their buffs but it would give non-group or solo-group players an incentive to at least look around for an ATK performer before they automatically /invite a zombie.

Keep in mind I am not asking for the permanent removal of the group buff, just the temp removal until the EU when they adress the major issues with our buffing system.

You could still buff everyone on a room with a macro like
Target:
/ui action cycleTargetNext;
/setp;
/pause 1;
/macro target;
That easily targets everyone in the area, sets perform on them. There is no needto group and buff everyone in the area with a background macro running like this. This might not be a perfect example, but I have tested it with other things and know it can work.
Taking out the group buff ability would be more of a headache on entertainers than help. Loosing content is not what is needed to fix entertainer.

Can you /setperf and buff more than one person at a time? If so then obviously that change would need to be made as well.
The idea is to change from a one on twenty to a one on one buff.
As for it being a removal of content... No it's not a removal of content it's a removal of effectiveness. A nerf if you prefer that term.

I tested that when we first got the feature and was not able to successfully buff more than one person at a time. I'll test it again tonight.

It stops buffing which ever person you had been buffing when you start another... we talked about this waaaaaaay back and I think Tiaga confirmed it as well as others. We thoughtthat you might be able to do multiples, but that was before the time build up was really understood.
That's my memory at least and that's the belief I've been going on since then. Of course, stuff does change so I guess it could be working differently since then. Anyway, yeah, it wouldn't hurt my feelings if the group buff went away.

Well... I can't really see a reason why grouping should be nerfed until the EU. Buffbots will still be able to do their thing they'll just have to use a different macro(which are already out there)
People already wait for the bots even with Live Ents there to buff.
How often is there 2 Live ents buffing in one place that they wouldn't share anyways ? How often is there 2 live ents buffing in one place and there isn't already a bot there ?
I think it would be sort of pointless time spent by the devs when it could be used for something else.

With setperform you can only buff one person at a time. Personally I would not want to see the ability to buff a group all at one time removed until after the EU. For one, almost all my buffs are for big group hunts or base defenses. It's not realistic (time wise) for a mind buff for base defense to have to be done one at a time. Plus we have no idea how long it will be until the EU and what the EU will bring. If the group buff ability is removed I think we are just asking for even more players to create a buffbot that they'll bring along for events.
If they could make the setperform work for multiple people at a time I'd be happier with that. Not sure how or if that could be easily coded but depending upon how it is done it might make us a better option than a buff bot as they might not be able to successfully write a macro that does that - unless they were in a private structure where they can have people stand in an exact location.
Cheers,

Thank you for demonstrating what morons the typical bot runner is. /ui action cycleTargetNext targets the next available ATTACKABLE target. Learn something about the macro system before you post next time.

Some time ago (I can't remember exactly how long ago it was now it's been so long) I was able to buff an entire group without being grouped with them by doing a /setp on the group leader while the entire group watched me. This does not work anymore, but it did work that one time... and each member of the group got the full 2 hours. I would much prefer it if group buffs still worked like this than to be required to join the group myself.

This is not how the typical bot operates. There is a way to cycle target to anything (people, corpse, mobs, NPC's etc). I stated it may not be the perfect example, but you get the idea. I know enough about macros to know you get the idea as well, perhaps thats why youare so upset that I posted it. I apoligize.
