Welcome, ignorance is rectifiable. You might want to start reading the threads here, on Development, in Entertainer and probably on your server because there is no one authoritative answer and there's plenty of discussion going around on it. I suggest talking to the entertainers on your server too about it and see how they feel about it or what their opinions are.

Anyways could anyone enlighten me on this subject, because tandava seems to think she is the authority here. I just want to know how to buff ppl and how to deny service should i need to.Also i dont need other ppls opinions on it, if i did i wouldnt be asking you tandava.

I think you're the one with something that crawled up the butt. Know the meaning of the word before you yell at someone for using it.

Mindbuff:

If a customer watchs a dancer with dancingtechnique he /she gets a mindbuff (a temporqal boost in teh mind HAM) for every minute watching the dancer. To get the buff the customer has to stopwatching the dancer.

Musicans do teh same with focus and willpower.

Denyservice:

An Entertainer can target a customer to prevent healing them with this command.

Useless as long there are any L.A.M.E.rs in the cantina or an other near cantina.

Useless, because a short relog activates the healing again and the harassing customer can watch you from behind a corner or a place you cannot tareget him again easily.

Useless, because every jerk can spend 15 skillpoints, harass you and heal themself laughing in your face.

Thank you mond kind, and im sorry if i offended anyone but ignorance has a negative connotation and tandava came off pretty strong,(read her post and tell me it didnt sound kinda mean) Plus who tells another dancer to go look somewhere else instead of helping them out if i wanted to look through pages of how to do it i would have. So please dont tell me i was wrong because she came off way to strong and was even willing to help, also if she didnt want to help all she had to do was not post by flaming to a simple question only shows her lack of decency and respect.

Unofficial test: In a camp on Endor the other night, one of the other players /watched me for about 5 minutes while I danced my highest dance (exotic4). He reported a +300 increase in mind after I /stopdance 'd.

Had we gone for longer, it may have actually gone higher but we were attacked by Hadrakan Ancients and had to scramble

It's my understanding (again, not formally tested yet) that /listening to a Master Musician will buff your Focus and Willpower much as /watching a Master Dancer will buff Mind.

We really do need to test this some more to get some reliable figures.

Sinda: The buff is a maximum of 50% at master level. If you dance for too short a time, it may not last long enough to go that high (it takes a little while to ramp up.) The duration is two minutes for every minute spent watching, for an apparent maximum of 30 minutes. (Compared to doctor buffs, this is very very small. I've seen approximately three hours 200% buffs to all other stats from doctors. and the downtime required to make the meds can be taken at some point when the group *isn't* in the middle of hunting.)

You didn't ask "how" to do anything youasked "what *insert the subject is" when just looking at the page on the Dancer forum contained many arguments already on a heated debate topic.

I don't tend to like forums wasting space over and over when the discussion is hot and heavy on tons of forums already and discussed so repeatedly. And when other people have already spent lots of time pouring out their thoughts and opinions on it already. Its far better if you read those first.

If you decided "ignorance" implies someone doesn't care then you have a mistaken idea and applying that to me as someone who was trying to say you're stupidis on your own side of things. I tend to be very informative when I do write if the question is clear.

Ipointed you to places where the thread appears numerous times, just like someone pointing to a FAQ might do if there was one. No vitriolic response at all.

Taking time to see if the topic is discussed is part of reading a forum and in this case you took an incredibly popular topic thats all over the place.

Since I don't offer the service of mind buffing I've never tested this, but several dancers and listeners on my server forum said if someone watches a dancer for a mindbuff they *must* do a /stoplisten or /stopwatch on the patron's side for the buff to come into place. Running out of the cantina and away from the entertainer does not grant the buff.

Confirmations?

I've tested and seen the buff happen after "running away" without choosing to stop watching explicitly. It doesn't work all the time, however. One possibility for why it hasn't worked in a few of the cases I've seen is that if the performer wasn't dancing or playing *when you stopped*, I think you may not get the buff. Still not sure on this.

Thank you for the information, Hypatian, that's very helpful.

I just finished writing a letter to Holocron asking that he consider extending the duration of our mind buffs, and allowing us to actively target a player to /buffmind. I think it will help to restore some self-respect to our profession.
