Ok.. let's get to the nuts and bolts of the issue.

Here is the difference:

Macroed Dancer - Never gets a grasp of how to actually entertain. Gets no tips.

Non-Macroed Dancer - Able to actually perform and entertain. 500k tips in a month.

You go ahead and figure the rest out.

Of course they would have to be ATK to do the math.

Doh!

We need a "just figure it out" macro.

It's funny though. When I play my dancer, I figure I am an entertainer. I do my best to entertain and am usually rewarded via a tip. In all the days I have played I have NEVER asked for a tip. I would say 90% of the people I dance for tip me and a large amount tip me kinda to much.

My feeling is that they are showing that they too appreciate not having to go to an AFK entertainer and they have no problem kicking up a tip. Most people will tend to not really feel a tip was earned by an AFK entertainer, and if they WERE planning on tipping, by the time they hear the AFKer ask for tips, heals, and a group 20 times during their visit, they decide not to tip.

The thing that gets me the MOST is the AFK dancers that are wanting tips would probably NEVER tip an AFK dancer themselves. Yet they expect to come home from work, be in a group, suck up someone elses healing XP, AND get a tip for doing it!

Here is a tip. Be at the keyboard and active with your customers, I guarantee tips will pick up. Or just keep on macroing and make a new macro to **edit** about no tips too. I mean, why even do the work of bitching for tips?

I'm surprised how many times I'm dancing or playing music and forget to flourish. I most always macro.

As do I, Topper.

Don't assume that the only people who macro are AFKers. I don't dance without a macro, but I remain at the keyboard. Like Topper, I would completely forget to flourish if I didn't have a macro for it. And don't assume that macroed dancers are the only ones who get tipped. I once got tipped 300k in two days just dancing.

Hmm, I wanted to see what others said before I posted on this... but no one has said mine yet, so I'll pipe in.

I do macro and hand-flourish both, depending on what I'm doing, how much I'm chatting, and how awake I am.

I've never seen any difference in my tip rates between the two either. I code for a living, so it honestly seems a little sillyfor me not to use such an extensive in game macro system... but that's just my own take on it. Hand flourishing also gives you a better feel for the animations timing and flo splicing transitions. I think both have their place. *shrug*

I understand why some of you have decided to take a moral stance on macroing, but it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with AFKing, knowing flo techniques, or getting tips.

Why do I rarely macro? Because I stink at it . . . ask Roho or Lei. I can't even get the macros they create for me to work properly half the time (i.e., the clothes changing macro) . . . /sigh. I do use the powerbuff macro whenever I give one, but as there are few docs around town to buff me, that's one lonely little macro . . .

Macros are tools. You can use them for good or bad gameplay or no gameplay at all. Macros are not the problem, just the tool some people use for unattended gameplay. Unattended gameplay is a problem and should be banned like in any other game out there.

I'm dancing AFK right now. And I'm at work! I mean, "I'm at a freinds house." lol I just learned how to set up the macro yesterday. I'm not interested in geting tips afk. I danced manually with no macro's from the beginning all the way up to Dance 4. The xp really seemed to slow down when I started for dancer. I was usually doing missions, or that sort of thing, and never had much time for dancing. It seemed like it took forever to get xp. I finally asked a friend for a macro. I dont need tips. If you want healing xp, then heal me, but if theres someone else there who needs healing, then by all meens, heal them! My character wont know the difference. I'm just doing it for dance xp, and as far as i can tell, that doesent hurt anyone else. oh, by the way, I dont spam. I have no messeges spouting from my mouth while afk. Asking for tips/heals while afk is one of the most aburd things i have seen. Makes those people look greedy to me, like they want something for nothing. Like that guy who was running around asking everyone for 5k creds. totally absurd.

If I have multiple characters, is that the same as having Multiple Personalities? Does that meen I'm crazy? Insanity is just a label people place on those they dont understand. Dont take another step, or the Durni gets it!

Naritus-Jerrick Dargon Merchant/Armorsmith/Tailor/Master Artisan; Bubba' Rebal Warant Officer and future Commando; Naritus-Jack-Daniels Chef; Ahazi-Master of the Wookie Shake; Kettemoor-Pistoleer/Dancer/Rebal Staff Corpral; Bloodfin-Imperial Corpral; Did I miss anyone? Only about 10 other characters!

That didn't mean AFK dancing while sleeping, I still haven't done that yet.... I just meant not spaced out. I'm a little ditzy sometimes, lol... ok, a lot of the time.

I have been playing TC while posting lately though... I have it set up in window mode so I can still see myself, the door, and chat. I'm still panicky about it most of the time, but it seems to work ok for leveling when the cantina is slow.

Macros do have their place, just not unattended! If its slow I hand flow. You get a better feel for things this way. But if its busy and I want to talk to patrons or buff I bring out the macro and for flashy wardrobe changes nothing beats them. They are simply a tool, which unfortunately can be abused.

Fifi should been more specific.

Meant that if people get master dancer and ran macroes 90% or more of the time, they no be as talented as person that ran macroes 10% of the time. Fifi have 1 macro she use. Is flourish 8 from popular, 3 times back to back then flourish 7, then repeat.

Fifi use that as her go to bathroom, chatting, distracted, etc routine. No mean to insult anyone and apologize if did. *frowns*

Getting tips is no about just dancing and being at keyboard either. Building rapport with customers help a lot too! Key to getting tips begins when you first see person and end when they walk out. EVERYTHING you do in between is what matters. AFK Macroers tend to ask them for heals, groups, and tips. ATK dancer tend to chat about whatever. Be it their wounds, their droids, or just how they doing. Majority of people react well to this. But some no so chatty. For them you just dance.

So advantage of ATK is you dynamic and can react to situations and make persons visit to cantina feel a little more personal. AFK dancers, no can do that.

Sorry if made people mad. No mean to do that.
