Thread: Does JtL help entertainers?

Hi all. First off I am *not* trying to start a flame war. I am just curious to if would be worth it to someone who plays mostly entertainer and artisan professions to get JtL? I hear that there are some program fixes that help with crashing, which is my problem. But other than the flying around the galaxey, what else is there? I went to the store today to look for it but they were sold out or only had pre-orders on hand. So this gives me more time to think about if I should get it or not. Anyone have any advice for someone who is on the fence?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but the patches to the ground game should be available to you regardless of JtL purchase, so if that would be the only reason you bought it I think you wouldn't get anything for your money.

I'm not 100% sure about space, but I can say that I have definitely seen a change on the ground.

I usually hang out in Mos Eisley, where there is now a pilot trainer. There were about 100% more people in and out of there today than any other. Moreover, lots of newbie pilots came in seriously wounded. I don't know how long this will last since I know this week is the big rush with new stuff, but for now... get yours while the gettin's good!

JTL helps Entertainers and Doctors, actually. Quite a bit.

When pilots die (as will inevitably happen) they get Battle Fatigue and Health, Action, and Mind wounds. This won't affect them while in Space, but if they want to do anything on the ground, they'll need healing.

Benefit to Entertainers:

Entertainer healing experience from Battle Fatigue healing and Mind wound healing. Finally, a potentially reliable source of healing (and quite a LOT of healing per character, at that).

Benefit to Medics/Doctors:

Health and Action wounds give a lot more xp per heal than just healing damage. So, finally wounds reenter the world of SWG. For quite awhile, with all the buffs and armor around, wounds were rather hard to come by. Hopefully not anymore.

As for patches/fixes for the ground game, those are available to anyone who starts the SWG launchpad - regardless of whether or not you have JTL.

Oh, and it just might be worth it for an Entertainer or Artisan to get JTL - finally they'll have a chance at doing some form of combat (if they choose to) without sacrificing those hard earned crafting and entertainment skills Pilot skills take no skillpoints to learn, and it's all twitch based - so everyone's on rather equal footing to be effective as a pilot (ship component quality aside).

I am not one to play "shoot 'em ups." But I do have to say that I like the fact that I will be given extra skill points to do other things, and do them at the level of the best the server has to offer. I like the fact that unlike the normal things we do on the planets, I won't be seen as a deficient combatant with useless skills, but one with equal potential to achieve the same things others do out there. I'll be able to do what I like on Corellia Firma, and then do something completely different in space. In space, they don't care if you are a dancer, or master bounty hunter, or a novice tailor. And as a class that has suffered a considerable lack of respect, I find it very nice to know there may be one aspect of the game where my dancer profession won't be a liability.

Therefore, even though I don't know much about "shoot 'em ups," I am going to give JTL a try. I think that one who is dissatisfied with the game should at least try it. Who knows?

There are no direct benefits to entertainers contained in JTL that I recall. If what you meant was along the lines of new dances or new functionality for entertainers, no, there's nothing like that. The closest thing might be that with JTL you'd be able to go along for a dance party aboard a multi-player ship... without JTL installed, you couldn't go into space with the group.

Warryyr's comments about the healing XP do not require you to purchase the expansion, as you'll be getting that healing XP on the ground off of others. As Sirii mentioned, if you wanted to try your hand at Piloting, obviously that would be a reason to buy... but that's not directly entertainer related - more of a nice, no-skill points requiredsideline if you're interested in giving that a shot.

I did read somewhere that if you don't buy JTL you wont be able to see everything the JTL people see. I'm not sure if they just mean you wont be able to see a ship in your data pad or what, but that is what I read... I'll try to find the source and post it if I do.

There's more than one texture for a particular ship component. For example, there's 2 appearances for boosters. Without JTL, you'll only see one.

As for Entertainer content....well, you can now dance in a ship.

Even better, you can heal Mind Wounds and Battle Fatigue on a ship like the vet reward Yacht.

Cancelled 7/27/05 - I joined to play Star Wars, not Jedi-BH Wars. You've ignored/gutted/abused just about every other profession in the game, while spending most of your time working on Jedi and BH as they related to Jedi. You've basically killed the game for anyone who doesn't want the glowstick. Congratulations.

Thanks for clarifying that Nacoa! I knew there was something... but a lot of times my mind only records the words 'blah blah blah'.

It is my understanding you get no additional skill points, pilot just doesnt take points to learn. That is how it was in beta.
