I am not one to play "shoot 'em ups." But I do have to say that I like the fact that I will be given extra skill points to do other things, and do them at the level of the best the server has to offer. I like the fact that unlike the normal things we do on the planets, I won't be seen as a deficient combatant with useless skills, but one with equal potential to achieve the same things others do out there. I'll be able to do what I like on Corellia Firma, and then do something completely different in space. In space, they don't care if you are a dancer, or master bounty hunter, or a novice tailor. And as a class that has suffered a considerable lack of respect, I find it very nice to know there may be one aspect of the game where my dancer profession won't be a liability.

Therefore, even though I don't know much about "shoot 'em ups," I am going to give JTL a try. I think that one who is dissatisfied with the game should at least try it. Who knows?

Interesting perspective, and I must admit I never thought of it that way. Thanks for giving me something interesting to chew on, Sirii.

On the other hand, I don't like flight simulators at all. Still, I gave it the old college try in beta. What I found, to my surprise, was that the game didn't give me motion sickness as I feared. However, I found it boring and a grind. So I don't plan to buy JTL any time soon...but I'll probably buy it eventually. Heck I might change my mind and buy it tomorrow on a whim. Who knows? I do need to get it at some point so I can dance on those party barges.

well for me I can say so far its worth it. Not so much from the perspective of a dancer I guess but for something completely different to do.

For once Goldy is a killer! Rawr!! On the ground she's sweet and tender and healer of the sick and wounded, in the air she's ... well so far she's the crappiest pilot in the fleet but her carelessness of her ship makes her dangerous!

I would think that crafters benefit from this second playstyle as well.

Sick of no tips? Tired of people ignoring you for that buffbot? GO BLOW UP A SHIP. muhahahahahaha

Probably not a long term facination with me. Eventually everyone will get uber and I will still pretty much stink, hehehe.

My Yacht is awesome and plan to host many parties and perhaps some events on it. This was the real reason I purchased JTL. Now I can shuttle my group of folks anywhere, or launch them into space and buff them while we float through the galaxy before dropping them off at their destination

I know I was planning my barge's furniture design last night as I flew about. I have a basic laywout in my head, and now I need an architect.

"I played music to heal a wounded pilot on his Sorusub last night - and man, is that a beautiful ship...Not to mention the view! All those windows - you can actually watch people flying and fighting outside."

Did they fix that bug with the yacht being destructible yet? It's supposed to be indestructible, and I won't buy the expansion until they fix that because I don't want to hold a party and find myvenue exploding.

Also, if you hold a party on a ship, everyone involved has to be there when you take off - is that the case or can people dock with your party ship? If the former is the case I think space parties might be kinda lame, but if people can join while the party's ongoing I think that will rule because a yacht willdraw people's attention in space and they'll want to come onboard.

Since June 2004, running one of the game's first completely nonviolent characters. Testing the limits of non-combat MMORPG play and trying to have fun into the bargain (although the developers make it difficult).

Combat is no longer compulsory.

At the moment, no docking with a player ship in space. The Devs removed that early in beta because of bugs. They've said it will be added back in.

I enjoy it Its fun and space is absolutely beautiful. If you don't qualify for the vet reward though and are iffy on doing combaty stuff in space, I could understand holding off on it right now. As for benefits I could see for entertainers:

- never having to use a spaceport again(instant travel to most places and you can hyperspace to the rest. You only need shuttles for same planet travel).

- The vet ship which is fun, pretty, and lets you store 75 items without maintenence costs!

- access to the 2 new races(Ithorians are cute but Sullustians scare me O.o )

- Since pilot skills cost 0 skill points it means everyone can bea pilot. So, those who like the combat stuff up there can be pure entertainers and have a place they can make money besides entertaining.

Still, its nothing you can't live without save for missing out on the occassional yacht party.

Not everyone. My character is a pacifist. She can no more become a pilot than she can grow head tentacles and call herself a Twilek. Until pilot can be achieved without blowing people up, she can't be a pilot.

I agree, Beery: that's my biggest problem with JtL.Now, I've been told I don't have to do the missions and such, but still - I don't want to have to align myself (even though I am a covert Rebel) with any group in space. I could just use my yacht, I suppose, but I'm still undecided . . . it wasn't much fun last night, though, with Eshi and Ricky zooming through space while Shianne was stuck scrunching her lonely littletoes in the warm Tatooine sand.

I'm a long way from the "figured out what I'm doing stage" but I'm having loads of fun with it.

Everyone says you don't have to do the missions, but when all is said and done the missions are 90% of the content, and for me, 10% of a game that costs $30.00 is only worth $3.00 if I don't intend to do the missions. Everyone who is toutingJTLsays that I have to accept the game as it is and adapt. Well I'm sorry butthat doesn't cut it. I play SWG the way I want to play it. Why should I adapt my whole character's philosophy - a philosophy I created and nurtured in a SWGenvironment that was already unfriendly to non-combat types - in order to meet the expectations of the combat types with regard to JTL? I've stuck with this game for a long time now, always with the hope that more non-combat content would come, but each time they issue a patch or an expansioncombat takes first, second, third, and fourth place, while non-combat content is either too little too late or not there at all. We keep getting fobbed off with promises of more content later, but 'later' keeps getting pushed further back while all the additionalcombat content gets fixed.

As the game expands, with more and more new features devoted to combat, my niche gets relativelysmaller and smaller (and it wasn't very big to begin with). Until SWG and JTL meets what I expect from a MMORPG, why should I pay more for getting less?

Your problem actually...

1.) Whoever wants tosurvive in ground that has JTL need entertainers to heal their battle fatigue. 200 BFand 200 mind wound almost 1K BF in an hour especially trying to learn game.

2.) Besides, being an entertainer does not stop you being pilot. Pilot does not need skill points.

3.) Space parties, space weddings...

4.) Winged Hawtpants, Leia's Skirt, Hooded Cloaks...

5.) Dancer Hammerheads...

What do you want more?
