For those curious about the schedule for the macro change like myself, i have posted a question on it in thunderhearts combat balance thread. Which was answered by the commando corespondant, and confirmed by thunderheart..
Garvin replied:
I hope TH doesn't mind me jumping in here...that was asked at the Summit and last we heard it will be something addressed after the Upgrade...of course that could have changed, but haven't heard that it has...

I would like to know about the macro change you anounced several months ago. Is it still happening? is it part of this upgrade? Is it now put off till after the upgrade? where does it fit in?

Not at all
Everything is still on deck and we will post announcments before we change anything.
So there you have it. After the combat upgrade.

No big surprise there.
After that it'll get pushed off for something else. You heard it here first.

Uh, that was me that asked at the summit. There is a little more to tell... I don't think I can yet. I'll ask Tiggs and TH what I can say right now though.

Cheers, that'd be great.
A lot of us here have dance routines and other strings of commands macroed, andone of the things that worries me is whether or not a lot of the work and effortput into these routines will be disrupted/wasted. Changing old habits is fine, but it would be a bit disappointing to see it ruin hours of "perfecting time" to try and make the best routines possible. Honestly, perhaps I'm just a lil concerned about a recurringbacklash on the entertainers from the community (not unlike the response we received before when this issue firstcame out) and that the mechanics of the game itself will also have a negative and perhaps unintended impact on our profession - a bit like a "Be careful what you wish for" deja vu.

I've asked. I'll say this. The macro nerf was discussed a lot by the Dev heading the effort at the summit. I'm under a gazillion NDAs and I've all ready gotten a hand smack. Please, trust me, I want you guys to know everything I've heard. I'm not telling you it's all going to be ok. It's not all hopeless either.
You just need more info. I'm trying.
We have a lot of chances to talk to the Devs directly right now. We are a part of this game. We were a goal in this game. Please don't let these chances slip by. Be vocal in all areas of the game that touch us! We are more than the AFK problems, there is an important core there that is the Social player base.
I'm trying to do my side, you guys need to do it from the other side!

Well no problem for me there. I'm frankly sick to death of the buffbot/afk "debate," if you can call it that. More like people shouting at each other and failing to ever find any common ground. Is AFK/buffbotting an issue? Yes. Personally I find AFKers and buffbots just above lawyers and slightly below cockroaches on the food chain. Nobody will change my mind, just like nobody will likely change the buffbot owner's. Now let's talk about all the other stuff we have to deal with.
I want fun mechanics and visuals, props, toys, mini-games, our Hutt Casino, the pazaac game that TH said was "90% finished" at the FanFest, group dance tools, different types of buffs to give (like the chef foods), fun quests and missions that actually make it worth buying a shuttle ticket to complete. I'm looking forward to raising hell (in a fun, entertaining way of course
) in the Combat Upgrade Sandbox. I won't let you down Panthu and fellow dancers!
Frankly, it's just about the only thing keeping me playing at this point.

The plain truth is: if they want to save our professions, they will go ahead with the plan to remove recursive macroing, and it should be at the top of their list of things to do. If not... well, then we know where we stand, I suppose.

If they want to save.... If they wanted to save it they WOULD have done something/ANYTHING already...
That ... AFTER the CU... do you know how long that is going to be ? All the players coming back because of the CU all the players because of JtL... ALL of them will be brainwashed by the afk masses of bots. The rest of this year will be spent mostly on JtL with CU stuff going on. CU is going to take about a year to complete at the last time table put out by the Devs.
The question here is....
"What do you want on your Tombstone ?"

I want all that too, but its pretty clear none of that will be coming to us in the combat upgrade. Thats content and gameplay improvement for our profession, which unless i'm wrong we will not be getting in the upgrade.

Oki, no reply back on what I can say yet. So, I'll just further clarify what Garv was referencing. After hearing about the evils of AFK macroing (like I didn't know?
) during pretty much every break during the summit office talks, I asked if we would see this code change in the Sandbox while we were in session. The answer was no. Not a terribly big deal, the Ent Quests were never on the JTL test servers and they still got patched to Live. This is a note on priority, not a for sure timeline.
TH's answer in the CU thread should not be taken to mean "this will happen after the CU if ever." It should be taken to mean "this isn't our first priority right now and we still aren't sure what we are doing about it. It might be decided and moved on at any time."
The CU and the macro nerf are not now and never have been directly related.
Personally, for our own needs, I feel that an enforced Ban policy with a strong look into why people are AFKing Dancer should be the best thing for us. The Ent Healing/Buffing/Leveling/Pay motivations should be handled in the CU. The pure Dancer fun factor as a separate part of the game specific to dancing should be handled in our prof revamp.
Any policies or code changes dealing with Botting or general AFK macroing could be picked up and ran with by the Dev team at any time. There just isn't a set date or place picked out to deal with it right now. There will be at some point though. These kinds of things are largely decided by what the game's most immediate needs affecting the most amount of players are.

I have to ask, are they blind? AFK in general is affecting everyone and having a huge negative affect. Just try walking through Theed withouta monster computer. Try coronet even with a monster computer. Don't these guys get it all the lag, all the hardware overload, all the SPAM can pretty much be taken straight back to the fact that at any given time a significant percentage of theonline player base is AFK bots of some kind.
I don't care if the fix is for entertainers or not (I know it isn't) but this issue affects more people than the combat revamp ever will. I see far fewer PvP players than all other player types combined so why does that group get the most attention when every single person's game is affected by all the AFK going on?

No, I don't think the are blind. They also aren't deaf and the combat players are a lot more vocal outside of their prof forums than we are. *wonders if she could hint anymore*
Combat players also don't remove themselves from the rest of the game, they claim the whole game as their area. *guesses she can*
The CU has been worked on in some form or another way before the rampant AFKing and Botting ever became public. That didn't happen until the holocron update saying that it was allowed. Before then, AFKers and Bots were hidden... they did not cause lag or disrupt active players' gameplay in any visible way. People stayed out of public areas, because they thought they would be banned if caught.
The plan to nerf macros is much newer than the CU. It is also not something that all of the Devs agree on yet. The purpose would be to curb AFK "play" and to help keep it from disturbing others' gameplay while at the keys. A strong stance against AFK "play" and third party programs was talked about at the same time when the possible macro changes were first discussed.
