Thread: Unity please!

Ok, I just got through reading a thread here that slowly degenerated to a personal gratification flame, going off on a fellow entertainer for doing something that they themselves started doing in the first place when the thread was hijacked. While this is not the point of this post. I'm using it as a prime example.

This is a game!!!!! We are players that are here to have fun and do it together. That is what MMO's are about. The rules are made by the game developers. We as players, where we do have our own voice, are still bound by the rules that are set before us, whether we like it or not. I started out as a dancer and I remember entertainers as a whole being the most unified of players in SWG, always there to have fun and RP and socialize. I have a combat character, as well as a crafter, but I still remained an entertainer because of the fun and comraderie. I've never thought that would all sink to such a level of bitterness where we have to personally attack one another.

Facts are that BF is gone and it is not coming back. I personally feel that it does remove the entertainer's integration into the game as far as the game rules are concerned. Our remaining skills justisn't enough to make us viable as far as making a living. That does not mean howeverthat we have become useless to play. I personally love to dance because it's fun, it entertains others, even without it "doing" anything in particular, and it was fun to socialize with others. I didn't dance cause I wanted to buff, or because I wanted to heal wounds.

Fact again... AFK entertainers exist and probably always will. I personally don't like it. But it's not going to go away. I think the spamming is intolerable. I think the players that leave their computer for the day yet ask other players for money is unethical and just plain messed up. But that is why I have an ignore list. It may not solve everything, but it does help me if I'm the one with the problem with it. Maybe some others don't. Again, it's notup to usas to why it's there.

My main point is that the majority of us that even care to post on this forum are entertainers because we want to participate in the game as such. It would be nice if we could go back to being the community I remember so well and solve our issues by coming up with ways of having fun and doing it... together. It's the backbone of our professions and the reason why so many of us have been doing it in the first place. It's also the only way we're going to be able to enjoy ourselves again.

Lastly, we are dancers, musicians, image designers, in the Star Wars universe. We don't live in America, or Africa, Europe, Asia or any other place that exists in RL.I dislike RL laws, places, and people as comparisons to things that happen in game. They are moot. Things change here so that everyone can play and have fun. Anyone can logout and go joinRLanytime they wish. My toon doesn't live out there. I can deal with more than enough of that outside of game tyvm.

So now the dilemma... with all the things that we know exist, there has to be ways for all of us to just play and be.. well at least respectful to one another as entertainers. Come up with ideas as a team. Communicate with people, not at people, and especially not at each other. Out of all members of the gaming community, we're the ones with the best opportunity to do that.

Thanks foryour time

Hehe, hello Bartle Socializer! I feel the same way. To me, the game is about the people and the fun we have together. Whether it's my guildmates that I treasure as much as rl friends, people that I only see every once in a while but I really enjoy, or just the random player that I cross paths with and share a chuckle or a neat experience.

The people make the world go for me, they make it real. A little off topic, but it cracks me up that "Killers" are also people motivated. I mean, to an extent so are Achievers and Explorers since part of their motivation comes from what they get to show off to other players, but Socializers and Killers have no gameplay with out other players.

Anyway, even though we sometimes disagree on methods in here, I do think we all have this in common.

Edit: Oops, forgot to quote the part I was replying to, heh. /bonk self

I'm so sick of the complaining I can hardly see streight anymore, look at all those unread threads, and the smuggler forum is no better eather... funny how the two best communities imploded at the same time, no place to retreat to sept back to my Force Sensative quests, /shrug /sigh

It's no use though, I think I'm just gunna take some time away from the forums and hope people learn to accept the "loss" of BF. Why come back if all it'll do is frustrate me, I could be off dancing instead.

Yeah..no kidding. I usually let insanity periods just run their course. They're usually followed by some pretty heavy creativity.Forum tude is like a pendulum.

You have to keep in mind that this forum is one of the few places dancers can openly vent and complain and feel that someone else understands their perspective. That's one reason why the "I'm loving X" or "I'm hating X" statements tend to get so heated. Ifwe don't give people the opportunity to celebrate or complain equally then we'll simply drive a portion of them away. Given time they'll offer up new ideas but right now the fact of the matter is there's a great division in the community. Those who aren't loving the changes need to feel they can have that cathartic venting experience and those who are loving the changes don't want to hear the negative. I think it's essential that we all come to terms with the fact that the dancer or musician next to us in the cantina may want a completely different game interaction. Either we're going to accept that difference or we aren't. What we eventually decide will have an enormous impact on the type of community we have in the end.

You just can't have unity when a major portion of the community is having their voice silenced and under represented to the developers by our community liason. That's the bottom line.

You wouldn't see that hate on here if all concerns were being addressed as serious. A simple statement of uninanimous support from the community liasons saying they had represented our concerns about the removal of what is to many of us our most important role would have been all that was needed to promote unity, instead they have been more like attack dogs flaming and dismissing any poster that dares to speak out that this role change is harmful to our way of playing.

The devs are very well aware of your concerns.

Look, I don't care what else you say in here, but you have got to drop the personal attacks on our corrs. It's not fair and you are totally off base.

You have had an issue with every single DC since RM and you can't find three Dancer playersmore different than me, Deila, and Esh! You obviously just have some personal hang ups about the title and/or some confusion over exactly what it is a corr does.

Panthu, my concern is that as a member of the community my voice is not being heard and the people who are supposed to be representing it to the developers are chosing instead to ignore it or worse lable it as outcast.

It's not just me who feels that way, it's just me with the skin thick enough to accept the abuse you and the others pour on me when I come in here and make the points.

That the devs have chosen not tolet your opinion guide their actionsdoes not mean that they have not heard it, understood it or that it has not been represented to them (repeatedly).
