As strange as it seems to me I am still running into a large number of AFK Dancers on the Tempest server. What's it like on your's?

Hmmm..depends on where I go. On both of my servers, it's a lot of AFK in Mos E and Dantooine MO. Always has been. I find more ATK ents in Theed and Bestine.

A lot of the same ones are still there. I have no idea what they hope to accomplish... LOL.

They're waiting until their alt bots are useful again, to get back into the bot business full force.
The Devs' unwillingness to address this issue and accept that people will ALWAYS bot is just astounding.
It makes us all look like bots, and it marginalizes our role in the game.
Entertainer botting is one of the things that make this game look like total crap.

We have just as many if not more on Shadowfire.
As for what they hope to accomplish, absolutely nothing has changed from their perspective. They still get xp whether they are attended or not. They can set a covercharge and possibly get a tip. Until those two things change they have absolutely nothing to lose by being unattended.

I've seen a lot of new ones that past few days. All the worst kind too, spamming about inviting them to a group if they're not in one, dont' forget to tip them (and just what are you tipping them for now, anyway, when they're AFK and providing no benefit to anyone but themselves?), shop at their vendor, yada yada.
Wasn't room in the cantina for little ol' live me.

I've noticed more today than the rest of the week. Exactly the opposite of what I expected.

That's interesting.
It might be a good thing if this trend continues, and there are even more AFKers than before. (Though I can't figure out why this would be.)
No, wait, hear me out.
I think one reason the devs put in a "partial" revamp for us and left us with little to give the community was to see what would happen in terms of AFKing. If there's no reason to AFK bot, are people still going to do it? If they still do, then the devs can't pretend anymore that some fix like giving us buffs instead of BF healing will solve the AFK problem, and they might have to finally admit after 2 years that they need to DO SOMETHING about it.

I haven't seen a live ATK entertainer in an NPC cantina on Scylla in... um... heck if I know, but not for at least two months. Only ATK entertainers I've seen are a few friends, the last remaining few, in a couple player towns. For all practical purposes there are no live entertainers left on Scylla.
That's probably because most of us have just stopped going to NPC cantinas, not because we're not around or are mythical figures. I danced ata party just two nights ago on Scylla for hours and, while the entertainer turnout wasn't as good as I had hoped, it was informal and impromptu, so I didn't expect every entertainer on the server to show.
I'm more often on my shipwright/DE or in space because parties just don't happen every day and also because I'm quite busy with crafting demands. I do try to be responsive to those who ask for an inspiration buff, but gone are the days when I would get tells every 10 mins asking for a buff or inviting me to an event.
I just dance for my own personal enjoyment now and that means avoiding places where I need to use /addignore 20 times within the first minute just to cut down on the AFK spam (a.k.a. NPC city cantinas). Every so often, you'll likely see a little purple rodian with a Master Dancer tag up and purple and gold ribbon props in his hands standing near a starship term...that's me (I think I'm the only male rodian dancer on the server, so I'm hard to mistake for someone else). Say hi if you do and I'd be happy to dance for ya while I'm there

LOL, people are still using entertainer as an easy road to leveling a profession - they did it during the holo craze and are doing it now as the requirements are not as steep as leveling a combat profession. They get the elite master(s) and then use the repesc to get their "real" profession(s).
Gah! took a word out.

Well, last night on Bria in Theed, Roho and I ran across two diametrically opposed types of "entertainers" - both very wrong in our books, too. First there were the 8-10 AFK dancers and musicians (just in the main room - I have no idea how many were up by the door) and second was the small group of "live entertainers" who not only completely and utterlyignored the two of us (Roho even offered $500,000 credits to anyone who would invite us to a group and never got a reply), but who totallyignored the few patrons who showed up, as well. I'm not sure which type gave "entertainer" the worst name.

Personally I don't consider those two different types, since those kinds aren't really ATK players.. They're just ATK at the moment, and will go AFK when they get bored talking in group chat...
And, I agree 100% with Dejah.. that's one of the things that's kept me calm through this, a firm..well, maybe not belief, but hope at least.. that they're going step by step to see just how much they have to change to fix our REAL problems.

We had an afk'er in the Mos Eisley cantina on Ahazi today who had his spam misspelled - "Please don't forget to tim your entertainers". I gotta admit, I got a lot of mileage out of that one. I started in on the jokes while I was playing, working in a "tim" into every one of them. Eventually he checked in to see how his exp was and changed his macro.
