Thread: WE ARE USLESS NOW
If you have something *constructive* to add, please look at the stickied posts and offer up ideas.
I know that to some folks, things look pretty bleak.
I hope that you stick with Entertainer to see where it ends up, once all of our work is done, but if you don't want to pay your subscription for months to finally see Entertainers get fixed up, then I would understand if you wanted to change professions, or leave the game.
Given that this is your first post on the forums, I think you're one of the folks that was so upset/distraught over something in-game that it brought you to the forums to vent.
That's okay, venting is fine. But, people who spend a lot of time around here seen many "we're useless now!" posts, and their frustration level with being called useless is pretty high.
I hope you stick with Entertainer, and SWG in general, but from a personal standpoint I fault no one for either cancelling their account or getting out of the Entertainer professions.
This game (and our professions) are in a very weird and unprecedented state right now, and hopefully the Devs will see us through.
The current function of Entertainers in this game is to Inspiration buff, and to dance and play music. Hopefully there is more on the way soon. Hopefully you'll stick around the forums and provide feedback on the changes, or your opinion on what YOU think would make Entertainer not "useless" and more fun.
It is you "silent" folks who make a first post in frustration that need to hang out around here more often, tell the community and the Devs how you feel about things, and try to constructively make this game a better experience.
Having said that, trust me - as anyone can attest around here, I have flip-outs and freak outs. But in the end, if you really feel like Entertainers are now useless, how would you like them to NOT be useless? What do you want to do in SWG as an Entertainer? What needs fixing, that is totally annoying?

Also, starting over isn't a huge deal, really.
You can get just about any profession in the game relatively quickly (a couple weeks at most), if you make adetermined effort to do so.
You can always get whatever profession you dropped back at a later date, if you change your mind. There is no permanent damage done, aside from going from a character who's "done" with grinding, to a total newbie in another profession.
If you don't feel your guild is getting any use out of your character now, ask them what profession WOULD be very useful, and go after it.

My wife plays a Master Dancer character and really enjoys it. Not so much from the play aspect but from the social aspect. Yes, entertainers in general are still good for inspiration buffs, which can play a big part for all the other professions....every little bit of extra xp helps you know. But like everyone else is saying, if you dont like it anymore, there are plenty of other things in the game to do. If you wanna see real true hardcore complaining, visit the BH or Jedi forums.....

What bothers me about this is that even if a guildbot DOES quit over this, and we end up getting cool stuff that CAN be botted, they can AFK right back to Master with no effort on their part, and continue on their merry bot way, providing our stuff to people with no effort to grind OR provide our stuff to anyone who wants it.
I'd really like to see some commitment that will ensure that our elite profession buffs will have a dedicated effort put forth in them to make them NOT AFK'able.

Perhaps you are useless, but I am not.
My primary purpose as a dancer is to have fun and be social. My secondary purpose as a dancer is to entertain my guild, friends, and public. Neither of these things have changed with the loss of healing.
We still have our inspiration buff that's good for xp, crafting successes, and faction. We have been told that there are more types of buffs coming down the road. None of these buffs are ESSENTIAL, and that's just fine with me.
Entertainers should now be considered muses. The buff is nice to have, but you can still have fun and get things done without them. If that's not enough for you, then either quit or go play something you feel better about playing.
There's a horrible shortage of doctors. Maybe if you want to heal, you should go play one of those.
