to play devil's advocate here-I am going to defend the poster a bit. First off, he didn't say that he was an afk bot-just that he was a dancer for benefit of his guild to help out-and it was immediately assumed that he was a bot, and pounced on. That isn't really fair, now is it? I understand that you don't like the idea of being useless, and take offense to that, but let's step back and look at things from a different point of view. (omg, I have been hunting jedi waaaaaay to long-I am starting to sound like one....) Who comes into cantina's now? Toons that are not done grinding, that's who. Granted, there is the occassional toon that is a finished temp that comes in, but for the omost part, it is only new toons who are in there watching. What effect does this have? Well, for one thing, it makes it to where vets really arent's socializing with new people anymore and giving their knowledge out. Also, with the speed that buffs go now, how much socialising is really going on, anyways? It is just like the shuttle wait lines....talk about socialising....the games that we would play as we waited forever for a shuttle to land..but I digress. A new toon runs in, watches for about 30 seconds, and rushes off. No vets running in-(I haven't needed to go see a dancer in awhile now, so I can't really remember the last time I was in a cantina) so really, the socialising that you are all talking about is for the most part with the members of your band, and that aspect will never change. The problem that I see with your chosen proffession, is that really, (and please, take no offense here-I feel bad for you all as I was a dancer a loooooooong time ago) if your profs disappeared, along with ID, not many would really be notice-because they have no reason to take note. (BTW, I have a MID right now as well, so I understand how it works..) Someone stated that you are there for social players, but I counter with this game is here for social players-for those that are not social, there are much better single player games out there that you don't have to relearn every month because the devs keep changing major aspects of it. Soooo...if every class is social, and they all provide somthing to the game that is tangible......what is your tangible addition to the game? A 10% buff to xp? Laughable....actually. I hate to say that, but it is how I feel. So, if you provide little actual service to the game, other than something that by just being social (which a person logging in for the first time is capable of doing just as well as a master dancer) than why does it cost the same ammount of skill points to do? I really want a dancer/swordsman or something else, but I just can't because for what I am usually upto ingame, anything lower than a cl of 80 would get creamed in a solo run... (here's the part where one of you dancer hybrids is going to tell me that is soooo not true and to learn my temp-but really, cmon lol. Trust me, I think I know what I am doing in this game.)
Well, sorry to see what has happened to you all, and sorry to see that there is nothing in veiw tht will really make you an integral part of the game again, so socialize away. At least you still have that. I think I might come join you in a cantina again and watch the show. I really hope you all don't quit-or that soe makes you.
I know this thread seems to beat you up, but truly, I am just showing another side to this argument. That is all.
