Thread: will the new buffs just bring back the bots?

We don't heal mind anymore . . . OK not a big deal, we still have a purpose

We don't give mind Buffs . . . OK but we can inspire which is ok . . . until people don't need XP anymore

We have no BF to heal . . . I don't like it but will deal with it . . .

These things have all diminished the communities desire to pay for a bot. After all, the benefits of our profession have been diminished . . . from a mechanic sense at least.

But we will be getting new buffs . . . non-combat? combat? not really sure as no real info has been released.

MY question . . . the mind buff was one prime reason why the bots were created . . . won't introducing more buffs just bring them back?

As odd as this sounds, it is appearing that BOTS are the majority of entertainers at the moment. That doesn't sound "right" but my observation on Tempest is that ATK players are few and far between with BOTS being more easy to find.

The best reason I heard for there beingBOTS now is that you can AFK to master and then use your last respec to get master in a profession you can't AFK to master. If that is the real reason for all the bots that still remain I guess they should start disappearing in about a month?

Till then maybe the question should be, will the new inspiration buffs bring back ATK dancers?

If the new buffs will be AFKable then yes, the BoTs will be back.

Wouldn’t use of ID be more efficient for this? One can master ID in less then 2 hours now … or is ID not used for this because it gives them less points to respec with?

As much as I hate all of the FS XP stuff and everything related to grinding professions I care about...just a couple notes.

1. ID cannot be done AFK.
2. It takes longer than 2 hours. You can do it in a few hours, *if* you are paired up with someone who can do training for you or sit with you in front of the NPC trainer.

Folks were doing it in 2-3 hours during double XP week.

Bring BACK the bots?

For the most part, the bots never left.

AFK is as much of a problem as ever, in fact the Entertainer professions are very bot-friendly right now. Everything tangible we can offer as a benefit to other players (Inspiration buffs)is now 100% AFK'able, through totally passive means. No more "hassle" of grouping with bots, hell now you can just listen or watch and get what you want without uttering a single word.

Even if elite profession buffs are put in, as you stated - it will just encourage bots/alts/whatever to deny us content. And if it's AFK'able by any means...it will be AFK'd, and AFK'd thoroughly, as this game's community has shown us.

It is because of this 100% AFK'able and bot-friendly state that Entertainers are in that I'm taking a break for awhile.

This is never where I wanted to see Entertainers end up. This is absolutely atrocious.

Somehow, folks...we've let the bots win. Hmmm, actually...it's not our fault. The Devs have more than obviously facilitated the Entertainer bot playstyle, and I for one refuse to participate in this game so long as this "bot-friendly" attitude among the Devs remains.

Account on hiatus. That is all.

I refuse to accept the state that Entertainers are in, because we should never have gotten here in the first place. This Dev team has lost it's mind if they think they've improved us at this point.

I think this is really the point. Bots and afker's are the true problem and with them still in game the removal of battle fatigue doesn't really matter.

The only thing that troubles me right now is the thought of the new buffs being passive. That will continue to promote the afk problem.

Excluding a ban on AFK performing and/or putting in mechanics that make it impossible to AFK with out a 3rd party program like they did for ID and Crafting... our only real option is to ask for more things to do.

The new buffs will be one more thing to do if a) they are designed to be interactive so there is no in game way to afk them (like ID and Crafting) ORb) there is enough of a demand for them that it won't matter if bots are doing them too.

We just need more active choices for the people who really want to play these profs, and these buffs have the potential to offer that. It's going to totally depend on how they are implemented. The other AFK stuff though, that would all take policy changes and the devs would have to stop saying that AFK performing had its uses. It only has its uses because they have designed it that way, it's not like it's inherent with a showbiz flavored theme, heh.

Still though, if they aren't going to budge on that, then there is no reason for us to hold our collective breaths and pitch fits refusing new content.

Oh yeah, c) they can be sold as a rechargeableitem with a customized appearance.

That would work too. It doesn't matter how many Tailors we have, people like the pretty colors and the different combinations. It's something that is fun to shop for. All Tailors have the same darn stuff they can make, but the color choices are the key to keeping them all in demand.

If we were given Holo items to"charge" through an active performance to sell to people to use anytime they wanted to, we would have the repeat customers from recharges. If each Holo had our likeness though and could actually record the routine we are performing when we make it, that has that Tailor decorative charm and players would continue to buy these for their structures, even if they already had one with a charge just like it.

Actually, I can go from novice ent to master ID in less than 2 hours. My record was I think 1 hour 50 minutes (doubled from 55 actual minutes since it was during double-xp), and I could've done even slightly better if I *really* wanted to. Also, I do this without being paired with someone (the pairing actually slows me down slightly if it's my alt running a macro, or more significantly if it's someone with real-person lag). My only limiting factor ended up being my mind bar, and I imagine with a doc buff and foods I could go even faster.
And while I don't see *everyone* doing it as fast as I do, I have seen some who have done so.
