omg! jane!!!! stop this crazy thing!

where to begin.......

first off, getting through the quest. kind of fun, but kind of stupid all at the same time, two parts.

1) getting people to watch you dance waslike pulling teeth. it'll be easier on live (imo) when there are no blue frogs and the devs stamp of approval for everyone to kick the crap out of each other while i'm on a (tribe called) quest.

2) you've got to macro the performances for the npc audience. i can type pretty fast, but nowhere near fast enought to keep changing dances, light fx, and flourishing to get those people happy! /boggle

second, the dance itself.

/target devs

its called theatrical, and it's another formal or lyrical. you're all over the room with this one, and it looks good on your screen, but to everyone watching, you look like your having a walking grand mal. except for flourishes, the flo's looked good to everyone i made suffer through watching me flail about theatrically!

thats my take on this so called dance. to everyone that really cares about this one, you'll prolly do the quests too and see it for yourself. once you do, feel free to post your thoughts about it in this thread, maybe it'll get stickied and we'll have an easy to find place for all the ideas. who knows.

jerry's final thoughts: if this dance does go live, don't expect to see it in a windspire video.

I quite like the dance and the flo's are fun, It's probably a bit too mobile especially for cantina's but it's certainly a nice enough dance. It appears that there is a network issue with dancing where the dancer moves a lot. Hopefully it's a one fix fixes all problem and SOE will give us a Dev to fix it.

I like the dance too, especially the flourishes, but I'm just a clueless audience member.

Menyou,it hadn't occurred to me that a "network problem" might account for why the dance looks bad to some people and not so bad to others. I see the drift but not the other issues with this new dance. My connection is generally very fast, and I have 2G of RAM in my PC, so maybe that helps explain it?

Let's take a gander at our dance list shall we?

Basic - also known as the listless dance but the flos all work

Rhythmic - a little goofy, but eight working flos

Basic2 - better base animation than Basic, identical flos

Rhythmic2 - same flos as Rhythmic

Footloose - also known as "the stomp", 4 mocap and 4 horrible hand animated flos

Formal - Broken base animation to viewers, 4 mocap and 4 hideous hand animated flos

Footloose2 (Master Entertainer) - No different than footloose as far as I can tell

Formal2 (Master Entertainer) - No different than Formal as far as I can tell

Poplock - Loved and Hated ... 4 mocap and 4 over the top awful hand animated flos

Popular - One of the only full dances with 8 real flos

Popular2 - Different base animation, same flos as Popular

Poplock2 - Different base animation, same flos as Poplock

Lyrical - Broken base animation to viewers, only 4 flourishes

Exotic - Only3 flourishes (one shared withBasic)

Exotic2 - Only3 flourishes, one is shared with Exotic, one with Basic

Lyrical2 - Broken base animation to viewers, still only 4 flourishes same as Lyrical

Exotic3 - Only4 flourishes, one is sharedwith Exotic, one with Basic

Exotic4 - Only 3 flourishes, one is shared with Basic

OK... so, in essence we have only8 dances (Basic, Rhythmic, Footloose, Formal, Poplock, Popular, Lyrical, Exotic) with some variations. Even there, most of them are deeply flawed by either broken animation (Formal and Lyrical), awful looking flourishes (Formal, Poplock) or lack of flourishes (Lyrical, Exotic).

So now, after more than a year we get a new dance... and it's broken like two we already have. Honestly, given the above, is anyone surprised?

mhmm..and here is a list of the dances I actually use.

Basic & Basic2 - used when dancing at parties with non-entertainers who have picked up the skilljust to dance at the party.

Popular2 - good solid dance and all the flos work. If I'm just visitingat the cantinaor waiting on the shuttle I use this one.

Poplock2 - Only because Til loves it so much.

Exotic2, 3 & 4 - Because they can be strung together to make one, nice, long dance.

I use Exotic4 exclusively when buffing now as I've had too many combattersget upset thatI was "doing the wrong dance" while buffing them. I'll tackle this little dilemma when I'm done convincing them that we don't have to be grouped for the buff to take. I hope I live that long.

Drifting while doing the lyical and formal dances can actually be fixed quite easily. You simply need to make sure you start all your flourishes at the same place. You see, the flourishes always take you back to where you were when you started them it's only the base dance that makes you drift.

It's really not very hard when you get the hang of it. If you need to see a pro do it come over to Kettemoor sometime and watch Tiaga.

Apparently Lyrical and Formal look weird to those watching, so drifting isn't the only problem.

No, it's just very confusing if you don't know what's happening. A lot of people just think it's part of these Dances. O.o I guess a good network connection could help you see this less, but only if it did for the Speeder Bike Warp back Issue too. It's like when you see someone logon who was just there and they've been placed somewhere different than where you last saw them in the game world when they logged out, you see them "speed running" to the new location.

Tiaga (the clever monkey), figured out that if you unplug your network connection while watching a group do one of these "broken" Dances, they look perfect. Same as performing it on your own screen does. It's just the Server thinking it needs to tell others that you are somewhere else.

As far as I understand, the Devs involved are aware of this issue and know what is causing it. They have just not ever scheduled a time to fix it for whatever reason. *shrug* I know other cases of warping are a huge pain in the butt, perhaps this one is being blown off because "it affects so few."

If it's not ever going to be a high enough priority to be fixed though, I wish they would just stop giving us these and replace our old ones with less drifty versions... the drift is the bugger here.
