target the individual in question and type:
/setperform
the screen will tell you that you have directed your performance towards them
... and buffing will commence! (Provided they are watching you when you /setperform that is!)

ok, first thing. if you want and/or need help with a dance (and/or music, general entertainment) issue, dear God, say "please" in your post title, not PLZ. really, what the hell? this isn't a chat room where you need to get your ideas across as quickly as possible before someone changes the subject (and whats up with that? how come the average human attention span is shorter than a goldfish? what happened to the days when debate could last hours and every angle of subtle nuance was addressed?). this is a forum, you've got all the time in the world to phrase your question, and then re-read it to make sure you're using proper grammer and that you've got your spelling and punctuation correct.
wow, cold medicine does make me combative.
anyway, jackel101, this post isn't purposly directed at you. you're just my convenient whipping post for everyone else that can't structure a sentance.
thank you for being there for me to vent.

p.s. oh yeah, to buff someone outside your group, you target recipient of buff and type in /setperformance.

And as always, make sure the recipient of your buff is not watching or listening to anyone else when getting the buff, or it *will* fail. In fact, the best instruction you can give someone when using the /setperf method is that they stand perfectly still, motionless, and do nothing except watch you. Makes you sound like an attention hog, but it's the only way to ensure success in this world of wonkified buffs.

Also it's worth making sure the customer has no equipped guns. That was you can see them clapping. Now they may not be watching you BUT as least you know they ARE watching.

Preach it, sister! Five stars for you.

This random sig quote is brought to you by the Star Wars Galaxies forums:
"I can run around in my armor and still feel vulnerable, but if I choose to go to get buffs I become fearless, because I know I cannot really die. That, in my mind, shows that buffs are the true unbalancing factor and armor just goes along for the ride."

Those of us who are REALLY lazy (and want to avoid accidently setting our bios to perf or performance) make a one line macro of /setperformance and just click that.
And what happened to the days when someone who is being "new to dancing" isn't novice yet?

Hurry! There are other people who care about grammar. Honestly, any time other than during combat there is no reason or excuse to use short-cut language (e.g., ur, ne1, w8 4 me, 33l48nq). Actually, by the time someone has deciphered what you are saying, it would have been quicker to type out thewords/phrases completely. As a tailor, I tell people it is disrespectful to talk to me like that. In my other roles, I often just /addignore.
Again, Jackel101, please don't think that this is a personal attack against you. I am not upset at you, just your behavior in this situation.

People start dancing at master now. *shrug* They don't know about band flos, targeted buffing, or any of our bugs. I would rather see Dancer take no skill points but require attended leveling than have this, but, eh. *shrug* At least some people are showing interest after they "wake up" as a Master.
One day we will have fun and attended leveling... I hope it gets here soon. This is the reason that we have to always remember to include leveling issues in our Issue lists. So much harm has been done to our environments because of our skill gain setup.

I see Masters all the time in the Cantina who are amazed to do bandflos with other Dancers. It's always sad. Of course, these are the same people who hit Master way before me (on my Alt at least) because they were AFK all day and I only played the Alt when I was actually able to play. Of course, I'm just silly because I made an Alt a Master Dancer/Musician/Entertainer to play around on ATK when I was bored playing my main who is a Master Dancer (and some various other things that change).
I can kinda understand in the Beta having to tell people the command for /changedance or /changemusic since you can currently gain the skills by a clicking the frog.
Of course, I still find easier sometimes to type out my commands than hitting a button of preset flourishes and pauses.

I find it odd that someone who posts a request for help receives such a barrage of negativity in response

To be fair, there was no mention of mastership in the original post, and the post is titled "new to dancer" not "new to dancing".
I know I'm giving a huge benefit of the doubt here given the statistics that show this isn't the case, but it's entirely possible that "new to dancer" is a technical description of being new to the elite profession and that this person is taking the advice I posted here a while back to start buffing as soon as you hit novice so that you can get a better understanding of how it works (or doesn't work). It's easy to forget the holocron or not know about the KB in game, so asking for advice on the forums would be where I would turn next, if my friends in game weren't able to help me.
