Thread: Dancing with weapons

I'm trying to start a new dancing trend. There is nothing more entertaining than a dancer with a weapon. Weapons add a nice contrast to a dancer's performance. They create a dichotomy of sensuality and danger. Is the dancer here to heal you or kill you? Range weapons add toan "assasin" appeal, whilemeleeweapons add an air of masculinity.Sadly, I can't post any examples, but you can check me out demonstrating this new trend in cantinasaround Correlia on Wonderhome. My character is a female Twi'lek named Galaxi Rose. I usually dance wearing lingerie, boots, a pack, and a bone armlet on my left arm. I usually dance with a pistol as an homage to Aeon Flux, but dancing with an axe is the most entertaining and gets the most attention. There's nothing scarrier than a dancer wielding an axe while performing rhythmic flourish number one. I was going to try to start a lingerie trend, but most female dancers have too much dignity

Just to clarify, this trend is a feminist campaign. Most female dancers are disrespected and insulted, because they are females and considered the weaker sex. The weapons are a statement against thepassive female dancerimage seen by other players who train in more masculine professions. If you are insulted by a customer, wield a weapon to fend off the insults. It helps to train in the weapon you dance with, that way you can cause some damage in any duel you fight. If a fellow dancer is attacked, join in and save her. Gang up on harassers as a group, ala Pat Benitar in "Love is a Battlefield." When in doubt, use a weapon that's ironic, "wield the phallus, wield the power" and so on. Dancing in your lingerie while wielding a weapon is the ultimate taunt of beauty and power against the male-dominated Star Wars universe. I wanted to start anfeminist dance troupe, but unfortunately, I'm not a qualified master dancer/bounty hunter: (

While I thought your first post was interesting; your second post was looney. This whole "reaction to male dominated SWG" is just ludicrous.

Weapons should be put away in the cantinas at all times by customers and employees. If players keep their weapons out, entertainers should admonish them to put them away.

This is obviously not a serious post, it's a parody.Even thoughStar Wars is a role-playing game, people should still be able to make fun of the roles they play.

Oh. You got me. I thought you were serious. There were some posts of similar tenor to this in the sexual harassment thread that WERE serious.

I still urge everyone to nag people with weapons drawn in the cantina, though. It's bad form.

Or laziness...

That's kind of scary if people really post hate messages on a dancer board. I guess customers should never wield weapons in a cantina, only entertainers. It is empowering though, if all the entertainers have weapons drawn and no one else does. If a customer trusts an entertainer, then he should have no problem with being unarmed while a dancer wields an axe

I hate to derail the thread too far, but since someone already mentioned it, I have no problem with people coming into the Cantina with weapons drawn. I've even been witness to a couple of player duels, as well as Marksmen running into the Cantina followed by a group of thugs. Actually, I think it's pretty funny that all of this fighting is going on, people are making backroom deals, other dancers are /telling lapdances and asking for a hit of spice, and others are simply playing their music or dancing around amidst all of the chaos. It makes it feel like there's a real vibrant world out there, teeming with action. Usually after something like this happens, after a wookie runs in, and beats three thugs to the ground with his battle axe, I like to make smart*ss comments like, "Look what you did! Blood all over my shirt!" And, I marvel that people are just dancing around, business as usual in the Cantinas...I think it's hilarious and loads of fun.

Oh, I have no objections to fights in the Cantina. It's just that some people run around EVERYWHERE with their weapons drawn. It's not realistic, and it destroys the atmosphere. Let them whip them out first, as a sign of escalation... that makes things much cooler.

Some of is in ourgroup in Bestine(Radiant S) dance with the big black/gold staffs. It is not for combat or defense reasons but more for the look. I am a male wooie dancer and My height mixed with the long staff make for a real eye catcher! That along with three other dancers all wielding black staffs, it looks real neat when they all preform a flourish of some type or an other. I also have no problem with weapons drawn in the cantina or with droids. It just drives me nuts when people let their pets loose on the Dance floor. It really takes away from the mood/ enjoyment when there is a Dewback and a Bantha doing tricks and filling up every one's screen.

I usually dance with a sword. I mean how you gonna do the Wookie War Dance or The Chuba Hunt without a weapon.

I haven't had any problems with sexual harassment ... I presume that being called a "shag rug" is not sexual harassment [ I do note that I take sexual harassment seriously and am prepared to rasie hell about it in the Cantina when it arises so ladies I got your back].

I tend to agree that some weapon lugging and armor wearing is laziness. But it's hard to compel people who are playing a game to pay attention to theme issues if all they are interested in is nuking stuff. Perhaps the SWG society will evolve to a day when people dress for dinner and don't think /burp or /puke is really funny. I suspect that such an evolution however will result from a segmentation of the society into different circles that overlap to some extent but move in different orbits.

In defense of the gun luggers, I will say that in Moenia at least those who have bad Thug faction best have their weapons hotkeyed at the very least.

I use a sword on occasion.

I also occasionally point out that one of the most Frightening sights in the world to most guys is a woman with a BIG knife in her hand and a smile on her face. Laugh!

I used to dance with a staff. It really depends on which dance you are doing. Weapons look nice when you are dancing one of the versionsof rhythmic, but does not work quite as well with poplock.A friend dances with a sword all of the time and it leads to some fun banter sometimes. Of course sword is also her side specialty.
