Thread: A Note about Red Light District and CM's healing mind.
I wanted to post and sticky this just in case anyone misses my responses on the other threads. These are two big issues and I want to make sure everyone finds out whats going on.
First, about the "Red Light District" crap. The devs where talking about naming it this a while back and I thought I convinced them to do otherwise. Apparently they forgot or something and did it anyway. Well a day or two of screaming at them, (again thanks to Slick, and also the other correspondants helped on this one too backing us up) and they are changing the name. The name change should take effect TODAY, thats Monday. So no worries okay? Don't ya'll ever think for a second that I'd of let something like that go live. Theres not a chance in hell. ![]()
On the combat medics healing mind DAMAGE...
This has been an on going debate on the Correspondant forums. Not many where for the CM's getting the mind heal ability but the devs have made up their mind on this one so thats who's getting it unless something changes. I argued several points on our behalf with this debate and tried to get the wounds inflicted by healing mind damage as high as possible. ::evil grin:: Least we get something out of it this way.
So basically a mind heal is in the game, which is good. CM's get it.. up to you to decide if thats good or not, really doesn't matter at this point. And their healing causes themwounds to their mind. (good for us) All in all not a bad change from our point of view.
This should not diminish the requests for our buffs by much at all. The whole point of the medicsgetting some serious wounds by healing mind was to keep them from using it much. This new heal is not going to be a way to let Rifleman spam specials and heal the damage, if they did that they'd run out of secondary stats in no time. So everyone that needed our buffbefore still does.
I just started a second character this weekend as a dancer and I have to say you people are downright angry. I dont understand this pride you have in sticking it to the CM. In all the time playing with my other character I have never found a dancer that wanted to go adventuring so why on earth dancers would be jealous of other class getting an ability they clearly dont want (healing mind damage in a cantina is useless) is beyond me. Then, on top of that, the correspondant brags about sticking it to the CM.
And you wonder why people don't tip you...
Maybe it because of the dagger in your hand...
Yes I do go adventuring...alot. I am a fencer as well as a dancer. Alot of entertainers are more than just entertainers. In fact my whole PA basically started out as dancers, musicians, and image designers. We all found that adventuring was just as rewarding to us as performing and we all perform and adventure. So don't say we NEVER adventure...adventure is at the COREofCORE (my pa is CORE).

I'm just curious though, why did healing mind damage have to go to only one profession? I've read many of the arguments for each profession and many of them seem sound. Why couldn't Combat Medics AND Dancers AND Musicians AND Squad Leaders AND Doctors (or some mix of that list) all get it in some form or another? It seems to me that giving the ability to just one profession might make it too powerful. I don't play on Test Center, so I don't know how this ability is playing out. Who knows...it may lead to many Dancers and Musicians who want field experience and less time in the cantina taking up Combat Medic in order to have all mind bases covered.

I just thought of something..
Grinding ent healing: Have a combat medic healing your action and their mind in the cantina. They are watching you so you of course heal their mind. Infinite source of entertainer healing xp.
tiaga, i think just having a doctor buff your quickness or stamina by about 1k so you can dance uninterrupted for 2-3 hours is a bit better, if you really need it
besides, with the reduced action costs coming to live, it shouldn't be too big of a deal anymore ![]()
i'm really glad red light is getting renamed. i kind of wondered about that one, when i saw it on the politician skill tree
just wayyyy too many negative connotations there- especially for those of us who don't dance in fleshwraps ![]()
i think combat medics healing mind damage is a pretty decent solution. it would've been nice to get another perk, but as far as continuity/realism terms, i'm not sure how it would make sense for us to heal mind damage in battle
i think its good that the CMs are getting something else thats useful, too... because they're inevitably going to lose some effectiveness to their poisoning abilities- those are just too effective in PvP right now, from what i'm hearing.
raven... do you think it would make sense for us to be able to apply some sort of immunity/reduction to mind poison attacks? i haven't PvPed much, so i'm not sure how effective our normal mind buff is against these sorts of tactics, but maybe its something else they can consider ![]()

I'm not talking about getting dance xp.. I'm talking about healing xp.. I know several people who ended up finishing off the knowledge/tech lines (In both dance and music) before the healing lines. Myself included in this. In fact, I don't think I've ever tought master to someone after training tech or knowledge, only after training healing. Having constant healing xp coming in would make this go so much faster.
Hello there, I'll give my thoughts on this as a Rifleman and an avid PVPer. First, and Combat Medic I know will only use this heal to get players up from incap, since otherwise, it does more harm than good in the long run. Not enough Riflemen around depleting their own mind bars for the class to have a big impact on you guys one way or another. We will (or at least I will, and other rifleman would be idiots not to) get buffed by a dancer and musician before I go into any major PVP action. Getting up near 1600 Mind and 1600 secondary stats is too good a thing to pass up. I can take Bounty Hunters spamming EyeShot all day long with that.
However, others who disregard the mind pool will still need the combat medics in the game. They will still take mind damage, and probably wounds. You are still the only class to heal wounds and battle fatigue. All the entertainer classes are still my best friends. And now you will be the Combat Medics best friends as well. Enjoy!
Expect this new player combo: Combat Medic/Novice Entertainer 0/0/0/0
Can heal mind damageand slowly heal their own mind wounds and other players. Your going to lose a lot of Master Dancers/Musicians for this one. Why didn't theyjust give the Healing Mind Damage to the Master Dancer/Musician, wouldn't that have been easier to do and more logical?
Thanks for posting Xors. I always think it's very useful to hear what other think of changes in other professions, especially when it can concern them (mind buffs in this example). Personally I'm not to worried if CM's get mind heals - it just means they're more likely to come to the cantina for a mind buff more than before.
And thanks again, Ravenmist, for your continued promotion andworkfor the Dancer profession.
