Read about upcoming CU changes

**** The only wounds a player can receive are health wounds. All other wound types will be removed from the game.****

When I read this statement I am to assume that there will be no more mind wounds or battle fatigue?

It's depressing - however - AFK playing for entertainers will be eliminated since we more than likely won't be buffing.

So I guess the AFK problems are solved - they decided to remove our functionality and interdependency in the game.

Oh other intersting note - no more stat migrations - ID's now are just about changing looks.

That cat's out of the NDA bag now, so I guess we can talk about it. We tried to get more info on this, but I guess they have decided to remove mind wounds from the game without further discussion or consideration. The issue of battle fatigue is not completely clear, but it's apparently still in, and presumably we'll still be the healers for that. Mind buffing is also not completely clear, but it looks like we will still be the primary suppliers of that as well, though it remains to be seen how useful it will be. As one of the testing group I'm kind of surprised that as of today they've actually released more information to the general public than they've released to us. I hope I'm not breaking the NDA by saying that...

Don't forget this part:

I am just concerned that alot of our interdependency will be out the window. Maybe I am over-reacting - maybe I just need to go get a nice (adult beverage) and take a deep breath.

I was surpised that they removed stat migrations - but that would make sense considering there is now just a health bar.

I have played other games DAOC and was attracted to this game - because I could be a dancer - or an image designer or a crafter and be a viable player. I have played alot of different professions - for the 1.5 years I have played the game - and I still deviate to crafting or entertaining. But I have the most fun of all when I am performing in a group with friends and we have people watching us and they are having fun- and going wow... didn't know entertainers could do all of that.

One thing I hated about DAOC was having to go to an NPC healer and pay alot of credits to be healed after dying. It was so nice to have to depend on other players in this game for things like mind heals, doc heals, etc.... it felt (in the beginning) like people working together as a team.

I re-read and saw the point about long lasting mind buffs and also that there will be battle fatigue and we will heal it. It does concern me that they at this time (don't really have a solid plan) meaning its still left to be worked out they basically are trying to figure out how our profession will be played with the CU.

Being a software developer, I realize what happens when you get under the gun of a deadline - alot of features and functionality in specs get tossed out so that you can make the deadline... until you get down to the barebones... they don't have anything about our profession in the specs submitted today except the note it will have to be reworked.

Honestly what bothered me most when reading these changes was the increase in skill point costs for combat professions. With dancer being as skill point hungry as IT is... Is this going to mean even more dancers dropping their skill in order to be combat effective? Add on to that we are losing a key bonus (self wound healing) for having dancer skill and I am left wondering if they have considered lowering our skill point cost to compensate.

Im sorry but we are having everything that Musician and Dancers do as far as class inter-dependancy goes removed apart from battle fatigue healing

And its being played down as if unimportant?

Oh dont worry everyone we will get some MINOR buffs instead.

Im not normally negative on forums but the entire attitude towards entertainers in that thread drove me nuts, puts us in our place i guess, seen but not heard, thats us.

But hey it has one good point, there is no reason for anyone to grind dancer or musician afk anymore, so at least thats gone

EDIT : I just thought i'd add that i spent 30 million over the past 2 weeks buying mind enhance tapes so that when afk was removed (har har) i would be able to deliver the best possible mind buffs, and perhaps build a bit of a following :/

Sacrifice the support skills for combat, wow, this will make defecting to MOE when it finally arrives SO much easier. Thank you.

Ok ive calmed down... a little...

Ive thought about this and i will wait to see what next threads are, but chances are i will be dropping Dancer/Musician entirely and jus going something else.

While the changes in themselves are not something that hugely effects me, it feels as if weve been completely shut out and ignored, the fluff proffession of SWG, im kinda tired of it after all this time now, this will likely be the final straw unless i see something possitive before CU hits

Until tonight I was actually thinking of going Master Dancer/Master ID and Master Entertainer - thinking it would be cool to be an ID and be needed for stat migrations etc. Now... just thinking of quitting the game - period.

ok...I read it. I read (most of) the pages of talk backs.

I hate it.

But what we see there is essentially what we're gonna get, right? Because we know that SOE doesn't listen to their player base (imagine where this game would be if it did!)
As someone said, it seems like we've paid to be beta testers for 2 years for a children's game to be released in time for Episode 3 in May.

I'm TKM/dancer right now with some medic and scout skills. Who knows what I'll be come May...or if I'll even be here after that.

/sigh

That's the way I feel. Unless we get something to make us viable before the CU, and unless the dances as they are on TC do NOT go live, then I'm gone. That's it. The last straw. The final hurrah. No turning back. No coming back. They've had enough chances. I'll find something else to play.
