I am a Master Dancer on Ahazi, and I was just wondering how much do you charge for mind buffs? I had a gut tip me 30k the other day, just because no one else would give him one. And that was my first mind buff ever. I don't want to over charge people but I don't want to sell myself short. If you could just post what you normally charge or get that would help me alot. Thanks.

I just say tip whatever you want, and have pretty decent luck.

Here's what I think a random set of 10 of mybuff payments would look like:

1000

1000

1500

2000

2000

2000

3000

3000

5000

10000

So ON AVERAGE, I guess I get about 4000.... some people would think thats pricey, others cheap...

Hi,

You kidding? You should not charge more than 2000 credits. I get full doctor buff for 6000-8000 credits. That's 1000-1500 credits per stat. Plus, we don't need any resources; just few doses of stims which is practically nothing.

Ok, I have to disagree with the idea of alowing it to be based on tips. It's only a matter of time before the mind buffs are taken for granted the way healing is taken for granted. This is a service we offer. It is our only marketable skill and alowing the customer to decide what they will pay is currently profitable but will not continue to be if we don't set a market value for the service. When asked what the charge is I tell my customers my normal price is 2k for a targeted buff or 1k per member of a group buff and ask if this price is acceptable.

We sacrifice 106 skill points to have this ability. It is the only ability we have any control over. Lets not alow it to be devalued by suggesting that it costs us nothing and is therefore worth nothing.

Umm ...

I don't really see why you even have to market the buffs. It does cost us nothing. Unlike doctors who does have to pay or to go out and extract resources. Which is very cool I think. I can buff people up without much cost to me. I can do it at relative ease. With new interface, it would be even more easier. Good for me! I have more time to party and to chat around.

Besides, with remaining 250 - 106 = 144 points, you can get combat or crafting profession which earns too much credits. Or you can pick up musician and play on other people's worries over Drug(Muon)-Crackdown by offering an Muon-Alternative. (Then again, you are gonna be stuck in cantina all day which isn't my idea of fun. ... I suppose I am too much of a free-spirit for my own good.)

I'll tell you why dancer buffs are worth a lot:

1) Mind cannot be stimmed without some inconvinience, be it BF and wounds from a CM or food (and fishak is about to be removed). This makes it even more imperative for players to conserve and/or manage their mind bars in a way other stats are not vulnerable.

2) It takes a lot of time to do it right. Doctors can buff instantaniously, we cannot. A doctor can buff at least ten times more than us in a set time.

3) It can ONLY be done in a cantina, camp, or private home. Doctor buffs are portable, our buffs require a venue.

It is for these reasons that our buffs can demand a high price, and why I routinely make 1000-100,000 credits per buff via tip.

I play on Ahazi too, and I tell people to tip whatever they think is fair. I've gotten up to 10k, and have had people who leave and don't tip at all.

I find the average is 3k, but if someone wanted me to give them a specific amount I "charge", I'd say 1k. This is mainly because I also have master Musician and will generally buff all three stats, so I expect the same tip a Doc would normally get per stat.

I'd say at least 80% of the people I buff tip more than 1k per stat, though, so that's why I usually tell them to tip whatever they like.

If someone does not tip me afterwards I add them to /deny . 'Cause I want to go out and fight and what not .. but instead I see it as a favor for them to buff thier mind and takes 8 minutes (thats what I do) of my own time. If they were a friend or something, sure we can talk or what not.. but a stranger begging for a mind buff when I have other things to do.. should be worth something. just my thoughts.

I don't think asking for a tip as payment for a entertainer buff will under-cut the market. Its how I do bussiness and I do very well that way credit wise.I think that the best way to earn a living as an entertainer is just simple friendliness and a warm demeanor, people respond to that and will tip you well for just being cheeful to them when they come into a cantina.I very rarely have someone that does not OVER tip me for buffs and I chalk that up to just giving them a good show and showing them some interest and an occational smile while I heal their minds or am giving them a buff.Personality goes a long way

hi iggy!

my thoughts on buffs...

first off lets be real the materials required for doc buffs is extreemly small and it takes them all of 90 seconds or less to buff... ours takes 0 materials per buff but also 8 minutes to 20 if your doing a group... i dont know about you but im in constant tell hell and my time is valuable... if people are requesting a buff and i have the time its 5k, if im playing for another purpose and would be anyway its "tip what ya want" and if im going out of my way to buff its upwards of 50k

See, this is my point. We devalue ourselves this way.

Ask someone with a hardcore PvP template what 106 skill points would be worth to him/her. The buff most certainly comes at a cost to the dancer.I currently cannotbuff my own mind wich means I have sacrificed these points in order to help someone else- not myself.

To someone involved in PvP, doubling their mind is the difference between taking down a base and having thier equipment ruined by decay. That, my friends, is worth something. But, if we don't recognise our own worth it will only be a matter of time before, once again, we are in here complaining that no one tips.

That's all I'll say about it. I realize that "tip what you feel it's worth" is currently working for you. It's not my place to tell you what to charge or to even charge at all. I'm just offering my point of view on the value of our hard earned dance skills.
