I would like to say hello to all of my fellow dancers and that I started SWG about 9 days ago on the trial subscription. I started out in the Marksman Profession, but decided that soloing (lack of interaction with other players) wasn't for me. I then switched to an Entertainer and headed to the local cantina. I defaulted to starting in Mos Eisley and the cantina was deserted. I slowly started working my way up in skills and during that time very few people came in while I was performing. Everyone I would see walk in I would be very friendly and talk to them, since the majority of them were trial subscribers as well. Day by day word started spreading about me being in the cantina and people started trickling in. During the first two days I got a few other new entertainers that would regularly group with me and all was fine, plus I met the most wonderful person who gave me my first dance outfit for free. Ati is a master tailor and a master musician and she would keep me company. *hugs to Ati for being a good friend* I believe on my third day in the cantina Seri Shadowstar walked in during the evening and we had a great jam session with her on instruments and I was dancing plus a few of my core group *hugs to Yeci, Jewl, Thawth, Layna and Ati*.
Word spread about how there was actually a group playing in the Eis cantina and the majority of them were live people, so more people trickled in. Eventually we got a good solid group of 10 people then I found the forums when I was looking up more information about dancers. I learned of the plight we face against buffbots and I decided that since I was the one to form the group that we would take action against these people. I put into place some simple rules for the group which are no spam of any kind, no begging for tips or heals, and being an active participant by interacting with fellow players that would come in. If a person broke the rules I kicked them and told them why. The players that come into the cantina are very grateful for the efforts of my group to keep these unwanteds out of the public cantina. Of course, these people who did nothing but hologrind or spammed complained about being kicked and tried to make it like I owed them a group. I kindly informed them that Coronet and Theed was the place for them and to head there, but their fellow players would not tolerate their behavior. I listened to what my customers said and it's truly working. There are no spambots, no beggers, and most importantly every night the cantina gets filled to the brim by players looking for a chance to interact and socialize with us. Business has been real good and our regulars keep increasing. There are too many of them to name, but I and the group appreciate your support.
I've even turned around a few of the "I'm a buffbot only type of person* into "Man these guys are great and they're real people as well*. Keep the faith my fellow entertainers because it can happen if you have the right location and the right core group, and the right players coming in. I've achieved a lot in this game in a short span of time and helped out many of my regulars by recommending them to tailors, armorsmiths, weaponsmiths, etc.... I hope that this story is an inspiration and if you are ever in Mos Eisley on Intrepid stop by for a visit or to perform.

/comfort Fuyu Poor thing. We didn't forget about you, you're just so quiet! hehe
Thanks Denira for the kudos, you've been a great friend and you've done amazing things in the Eisley cantina =)
When I met Denira, I had just hit Master Tailor that day. I had no customers and was looking for a way to spead the word of my business and potentially help out a few new players. I was inspired to give away a few outfits (fleshwraps, shoes, etc) to some of the entertainers. I did it for two reasons, first off to recruit "walking advertisements" for my business and second to give a little helping hand to some fellow entertainers. I am and always have been an entertainer so I understand the plight of being perpetually poor and trying to get clothing from tailors that overcharge for their wares. Denira was my first guinea pig
All I asked is that if someone inquired where she got her "duds" that she'd give them my name.
I've been a tailor for about 2 weeks now, maybe a little less. I'm nowbusier than a 1-legged Bothan in a Tusken kicking contest. The cantina is full, my business is booming and everything is great. Even my vendor sales are going well, and my vendor is far from Mos Eisley (outside Wayfar).
I still try to find time to play music. It has been difficult since I seem to spend half my time with my head stuck in a crafting tool, but I'm having fun with my professions and that's all that matters.
Players can do great things by working together. Denira, Fuyu (no, I didn't leave you out), the other "regular" entertainers in Eisley and myself are living proof. You just have to work together to accomplish your goals.

Yay! A success story!
Alot of people get really angry by being kicked from the group. I usually don't kick afk'ers or spammers unless a live person needs to get in the group and it's full. But, I have been known to do my fair share of kicking when there's more than one song being played at the same time. People have called me a tyrant, or a Nazi or whatever. But, I'm an entertainer, and I refuse to allow my group to be an earsore.
Alot of people also think the entertainer professions are beyond repair. I don't. Yes, the buffbots are a huge problem that I'm afraid may eventually need some type of dev involvement. But, I really am willing to hold out hope that the end of the hologrind is going to be a huge improvement for us. Those cantinas may be empty for a little bit. But, I think since there will only be people there (besides the buffbots) that actually want to be entertainers, we're going to have a good chance of reclaiming our Cantinas. If the real entertainers start spending more time there--which they hopefully will since it won't be such an unpleasant environment anymore--we'll be able to take more and more newbies who truly want to be entertainers and won't be turned off by the game anymore--under our wing and show them what true entertaining is all about.
And, then we can get those Cantinas repopulated again by people that actually want to be there. I am very hopeful. And, it's great to hear a success story like this because it renews my faith that this can happen.

Yes, they may get angry and in fact the four of them that did get angry at me started harassing me in front of the people that came into the cantina. I put them on ignore and let them know that they are. My view on them being afk is that if they are unwilling to help the group as a whole prosper why should I help them prosper by doing spamming etc...? I'm not obligated to give them a group and I can pick who I want in my group. If enough of us get use these tactics to take back the public cantinas these hologrinders/spammers/lazy afk bums won't have any place to play. These people hurt the community that we're trying to support and strengthen by being there at the keyboard.
These people only damage the entertainer community as well as the player community, so it's best for us to act unified against these people in a way that we can do it without violating that TOS. So far this system has worked out and the regulars I have see how I handle these people who do get angry support me 110%. For example, yesterday I came back into the cantina after a small break to find a person in my group spamming like crazy. I kicked him from the group and put him on the no invite list. After the server rebooted, he comes up to me asking me for an invite and I politely refused stating why he wasn't getting into my group again. There were 5 of my regulars in the cantina at the time and when he started harassing me, calling me vile names, etc... my regulars came to my defense. They told the guy to leave because he's not wanted there. As you can see the majority of the players do in fact support what I'm doing by using this method and they are very thankful for the fact that the Eis cantina is a safe haven for them to get away from the spambots etc... We've always had to power to police ourselves at the group level.
I do thank you for your comments and your support. If you are ever on Intrepid send me tell and we can jam together.

DENIRA!! That's awesome! It does my bitter old heart good to hear such a story.
When I started the game as a novice entertainer, AFK was still the exception and not the rule. I had a blast those first few weeks in the Theed Cantina. Ah, nostalgia...*gets all misty for the old days*....
Mos Eisley cantina...is that the Lucky Despot? Or just a regular cantina? I haven't spent much time on Tatooine, except for Bestine.
Speaking of which, I was dancing for a while in Bestine yesterday, and I met a lovely dancer named Va'Eva (I think). She had some beautiful and unusual outfits which I complimented her on, and guess who her tailor is? Ati! I'll have to look her up some time.
Thanks again Denira. I'll try to stop by Mos Eisley soon!

The regular one and Va'Eva is one of my newest dancers. She really does a wonderful job and I'm happy that she's in the group.

Your emergence as an entertaining force on Intrepid is fantastic. I was surprised when I showed up in Eisley one day to find a ATK pc in the cantina at 8 am. Then I learned that you have only been playing for about 2 weeks. You dedication is admirable.

It kind of reminds me of my old days back at Tyrena, Denira. Creeva and Xie Lantha were already old hands, Moya', NeenaMari, Cloie, and I were levelling up, and we became the center of a community of individuals who worked in the area, like Nemo Davinci, Davinci Ten'D, Slav Dando, Baj'e, Bifein, The Superior Corellian Outfitters (now the Superior Galactic Outfitters, or SGO), HoV, the old RPF guild, the Corellian mafia, and so many others. Most of them moved to different worlds, like Naboo, Lok, or Dantooine. But for awhile in the game, the Tyrena Commercial district was THE PLACE to be, at least for me.
And most importantly, we never saw the things we did in preparation of missions, theme parks, and POIs as nuciances that we were reluctant to perform. We saw these things as content in themselves. Everyone in those days seemed to find the worth in things like shopping for a T21, or getting clothes tailor made, or even hanging out in the Med Centre, Cantina, or bank as worthwhile endevors in-and-of themselves. Some still do.
And I think the "noob invasion" of Mos Eisley is the best content addition that could have been added for we entertainers in the recent weeks. So many new people willing to make an effort to make the game work in the way that brings the fun back into simple things again, like putting an effort into performing at the cantina, which it seems you do wonderfully, Denira. Even on Bria, which generallypromotes an "arcade style tempernment" amongst many of its inhabitants, I have taken great joy in going to Mos Eisley to practice my craft the way it was meant to be practiced. I am sure it must be doubly so for you on Intrepid, Denira, which is a server much more open to appreciating the ambiance of the simulation, probiblyeven moreso in Mos Eisley.
Because the playerswho spend any deal of time in Mos Eisleyare generally much more open to making an effort to immerse themselves in the game world, and less concerned with switching to alt-tab to see who has been potty mouthing them on the forums, or talking in teamspeak with some wookiee who speaks perfect english, or is disgusted if the T21 they have sliced has only a 21% damage increase instead of a 22% increase. Thank you, Denira, for your efforts to bring the cantina there back into a source of joy for you and many others, and not simply become a place to exploit.
Savor these times, and try to maintain them, Denira. Remember the things you do in Mos Eisley and eventually go forth into the galaxy toperform for those who have forgotten what the source of real fun is all about.

Thank you for the kind words Sirii and your advice. I have a minor update today in which we've been offered to take over a player cantina with me running things. We declined the offer after a long discussion amongst ourselves because we love Eis so much. We also decided to form a second tour group that will tour the various cantinas on a contract basis, for player cantinas, or for tips if it's a public cantina. One of our regulars, Bruticus *hugs hun*, has offered his services to be our manager for the tour group due to his real life experience working in night clubs. We decided upon this approach so that way no one in the group gets burnt out on being inside of the Eis cantina and allows us to train new entertainers in the public cantina. The other bonus is that we will have total control over the people in the tour group and only our best entertainers will be able to go on tour. The final bonus is that we can truly put bandflo's to good use and have true choreographed shows for people to see. From what the various guilds have said about this idea is very supportive because it brings players to their cities which will improve the revenue of the city that the tour group is playing in. If there are any long time entertainers on Intrepid you will have a spot, provided we have room *grin*,on the tour group if you send me a tell.
From what I've heard from the players that come into the cantina, we have quite a few that build up a lot of BF on other planets, they really enjoy having us there and wish we would come to other cantinas. It's pure joy to see more and more new faces come in the doorand we have more of them coming in every day just from word of mouth. I'm extremely proud of the players that come in to be entertained and I'm extremely proud of my core members. Just keep the faith and keep plugging away at trying to shut down the afkers/buffbots/spammers because the majority of the players appreciate it. Those that hate what I'm doing and post their support of these types of zombies are the clear minority.
