Thread: Losing inspiration while watching/listening

The time I first noticed the problem, I was in the MO on Dant and had been watching a dancer for a while. Since the display no longer tells you how much total inspiration you have earned, I had stopped watching a couple of times to check. I noticed I had about 1:49:00, which seemed to be less than the previous time I had checked. I watched again. Next time I checked I had about 0:39:00. Once more, and I end up with 0:19:00. As I was watching more I was losing inspiration.

Tonight I was both watching a dancer and listening to a musician at the same time. I walk away for about 15 minutes for a power nap. I come back and I'm surprised to see the "+10 minutes" flash by, as I should have maxed out already. I stop watching and find that I have 0:09:00. I watched and listened for 15 minutes and ended up with 9 minutes of inspiration. It would seem that after maxing out, the inspiration counter sometimes starts going backwards and you lose inspiration instead of gaining it.

This is really whack. It happens to me often enough that I can't believe I'm the only person running into it. I /bugged it as soon as I noticed it, which was soon after the new buffs showed up...

The problem is that youstopped watching.. as far asI can tell these new insperations do no "Cap off" like the old ones did.. every time you stopped then stated again you werereseting your buff.

The second time I think what happend is the Dancer/Musician stopped playing/danceing, and your buff was then reset by the other one you were watching/listining..

Untill Publish 24 comes out, Only watch one Musician or dancer at a time, and don't stop watching untill you see "Max Duration" or you have not seen the "+10 Min float over your head for a good 50 seconds.

Well, I suppose that's all possible. That would have to mean that I had stopped quicker each time in the first example, as the numbers went steadily down. I'm not sure that's the case, but I'll keep it in mind.

As for the second example, I think that one of them did stop playing/performing. If that resets the buff completely then it's very lame. I can't help but wonder if there is any QA at SOE at all.

When you say "Until Publish 24 comes out," does that mean that this is a known issue and you know it will be fixed in the next publish? Or are you just guessing?

It doesn't really appear to be a bug so much as a failed game design idea. One issue that I have noticed, if I watch a dancer, start dancing, then radial the dancer, I see "stop listening" as an option. Now that is a bug and very odd.

Also have had problems with the radial in general. If I radial a dancer/musician to watch, then radial them to stop watching/listening at some point my toon starts watching/listening again and I lose my buff and have to begin again, not too terrible for the general inspiration, really sucky if I have gotten a prof. specific one.

Doesn't seem to occur if you type the appropriate stop command, but AGAIN if you type the opposite of what you are doing, ex. stopw when you are listening, you will stop and then start again resetting the buff same as the radial issue. Didn't ingame bug it yet tho.

I have the same problem. I was waiting for a group to form in MO one day. Watching a musician and just hanging out. My Max Duration flashed by probably 5 min before I left, but I never did stop listening at any point. When I did stop to head out...my inspiration was at 30 min. That happened twice..and with experimentation, I realized that I have to stopwatch/listen right after max duration flies up, or I don't get the max inspiration. Now I have to pay very close attention to when my max duration hits, and to whether the person I'm watching stops playing or stops dancing. Royal pain if you ask me. It forces the crowd to stop watching and listening after a set period of time.

I really appreciate you guys bringing this information in. It definitely conflicts with earlier tests (what happens if you /stopw early and what if you don't /stopw at all being things I checked for after it all went to Live). Please include any information in the Bugs thread stickied here (makes it easy to have one place specifically dancer to point the devs to), in the daily Issues threads on the In Live forum and don't forget to /bug it in game. Thanks!

This sounds like my experiences. It really seems to be that after the inspiration is maxed, that it starts running backwards and you lose it as you continue watching. This is my gut feeling after I've run into this several times, but I don't have data to back it up.

I will try to do some testing this weekend and get some hard data, and post that in the bug thread that was mentioned.

Errr ... ummm ... I don't think we're talking about "that" kind of inspiration, Zina.

They are changing the way buffs work alittle in pub 24 to make it so once you start getting a buff, you can keep getting it capped off.. Im not 10% sure how its going to work but its part of Red-Dwarf's insperation Guid
