The function of a cantina (originally) was to be a place for players to congregate, group up, discuss the game, roleplay, etc. It was to be a social hub of the city.

Once we're allowed to go wherever we please, there'll be no definite place to "hang out" in the galaxy and know that people are there - except right by starports. Which isn't the most exciting place to hang out.

I think some mobility is nice (we can buff and healin camps, after all), but as awesome as being free to go wherever we want would be, it'd ruin that one place in the game where people know they can hang out and get some entertainment.

Keep in mind that you can always perform wherever you like, but you can only buff/heal in camps and cantinas. A little street performance can sometimes bring in nice tips, especially when you get some friends together for a bigger show!

Hmm...well the standardization point is a good one.

It'd be nice to be on equal footing, I guess my only concern is that NPC cities would finally lose about the only definite structure where you know people hang out and can be found. Aside from a starport entrance.

My main problem with this is that many of us enjoy the cantina experience. Medical droids killed the clinics. I wouldn't want that to happen to cantina's too.

For those of you who weren't around for beta or the early days of the game... Before medical droids became the norm you'd find doctors, medics and combat medics who could heal wounds actually playing inside of medical centers. In fact the clinics were very similar to cantinas. Lots of people gathered, sometimes duels would break out, sometimes overts would come through fighting...

Now of course doctors go to the star ports and have people get into single file lines. If you find a medic or doctor in the med clinic they are either getting training from the NPC trainer or healing a tumbler.

The last thing I want to see is dancers and musicians standing in the star port shouting that they are offering buffs :/
