Thread: Cheese and Hawtpants Ent Guilds that Promote a Certain Type of RP and Allow AFK

I was in the SLAVE guild on starsider which operates out of a player city near to Jabba's Palace. It's all female, all dancers and all members rp being under ownership of jabba the hutt. From a distance you might think it was your type 1 entertainer guild and I could understand if someone had gotten confused but durring my time with that guild and actually during all of my time as an entertainer I've never been confused for one who would sell "optional services".

It's not because I dress conservative (some of my outfits are barely more than dental floss) and it's not for a lack of flirting either. I'm a huge flirt. I've just never had this problem.

The guild I co lead was supposed to be an entertainer guild however that is quite a daunting task, especially on Bloodfin. We're now more focused on "Entertainment" instead of just being entertainers.

Lately one of the problems I've encountered is the fact that another supposed entertainer guild popped up.

My guild is called the "Entertainers" with the tag ENTS. Myself as well as others in our guild came across people with the tag EnT, guildname "Entertainment".

In the time since we spotted them we have been getting reports of our members afking (something we do not allow) and the offering of the other "services". However, I truly doubt our members are doing this since I have yet to have someone give me a name of these people who are doing this.

We've also had some of our members be threatened by people because they said our members dropped houses and such causing them trouble with placement of their city and such.

In the last few weeks we haven't had any reports of stuff like this so I am hoping it is over. But this kind of stuff does annoy me greatly.

For me personally, SLAVE has always been my ideal vision of the "type 2" Ent Guild - Heavy RP, shows and events, and they really function asentertainment personalities in the game world. ADaM and SLAVE were the first two Ent Guilds I ever knew about and theyboth burned an impression on meas the standards that I hold all other Ent Guilds up to, heh.

I've been impressed with a lot of others since then: Javie's Gypsies, Talus Moon, FFW Band, etc. It's still SLAVE and ADaM I think of first when I think about Ent RP Guilds though.

I don't think that possibility would turn me off an Ent guild at all. Usually if anyone mistakes me for the "Type 1" it leads to a lot of awkwardness and confusion and leaves them more embarassed than me.

Honestly, as a guy friend of mine recently found out when he rolled a female toon for fun, you don't need a guild tag to be mistaken for a type 1, all you need to do is be female and walk into a cantina or any other place where there are people who wish you were a type 1. /grin

Normally I just stay a wookiee and avoid all the fuss.

Other than awareness of the occasional type 1 that turns up on one server or another that I play on, I've not been affected by them. I haven't had any contact with guilds of them. As for whether or not they hurt our reputation? Well..they don't enhance it..but yeah..Paks pretty much put it in perspective. I've yet to play a MMO where the type 1s didn't exist.

It's been a lonnnnnnng time since Flurry's had an ent guild (that I know of... if there's been a recent one it's been small or I've been blind) that was focused on ATK entertainment instead of your "type 1" guild.

I know my friends were part of some in the past but again.. been ages..

I'm more with C in that I prefer to get out there as part of some other guild than join a guild of people who all do the same thing as me... I mean, I'm already grouped up with those people anyway..

The current batch of Flurry ent guilds are pretty sad from what I've seen. More just cliques who guild so they can use /gu while ignoring people instead of having to be grouped and use /g.

The "type 1" guilds have had a huge impact on my game, though. One, for example, has a leader who "roleplays" a lesbian (she often goes on talking about her real life husband with no distinction between in and out of character, though) and behaves, quite honestly, dreadfully -- constant /licking (usually 10 - 20 messages spammed at once) and other similar emotes, that sort of thing. I find it very, very sad that it's acceptable to behave like an idiot and use the excuse that you're "roleplaying a lesbian so it's okay." Don't get me started on THAT.

Anyway, after this went on for a while people started ending *me* /tells asking how to get them to stop. Like I could control them. I'd been part of the "team" that had kept that cantina fairly respectable for a while and I guess people expected us to be able to maintain that. Unfortunately we couldn't, and that particular guild and their antics ended up with people telling me "well, sorry, I'll just go to anohter cantina from now on. This is too annoying, and I can't just addignore them because more people keep joining in every day."

So they basically helped kill the cantina I had danced in since launch. I don't blame it all on them, it was inevitable with the player base shrinking, but they sped it up for sure.

I've always felt my hands were tied about stuff like that. Even though it upsets people, they're actively playing and in most cases not breaking the TOS. I know they were reported (and warned) for spamming at the least, but I don't think the warnings were ever acted on. Considering that 90% of them were AFKers anyway... /shrug, I'm not sure the warnings were even seen.

Every few times I come here it is to see something nice being said in regards to myself or in this case my PA. Well, yes Silly was in <slave> and she was a wonderful addition to it. I am proud to say that our PA has never been one of the 1st type, ever. Our current membership is not that high, but we put on a performance, and I mean performance ona Yacht last night that left the PA that hired us suitably impressed.

I have had the sigular honor of being in both PAs that Pantu mentioned. ADaM was run by a wonderful person named Adara, whom has since left the game, but she is the one who taught me how to be more than a dancer, to be a true entertainer. Now, I am previlaged to lead <slave> after Sendari left it in my care, and although I worry that I live up to her legacy the others constintly tell me I do fine. It is not always easy to be an entertainer, and yes <slave> has suffered from our PA tag on one or two occations. However, the reputation we worked very hard for has served us well, as well as a few completely wonderful individuals who came to our defense. It is not always easy, but there are many who make it rewarding, and of course there is those whom you share it with as well.

Much <3 to Pantu for the kind words.

Within the last two years I can think of at least three 'type 1' guilds that have come and gone on Bria.

There is a night club on Chimaera where Type 1 perform. I was sent a mail offering my job, they thought I would be ideal How they got that idea, I don't know, my performances are not strip shows. Perhaps it was because I will chat with my audience. Needless to say, I turned them down.

Mmm, cheesy hawtpanted goodness... yup, only safe Dancertopics for the old Panthu I guess, lol.

*coughs* Anway...

Shailas and I had a talk last night about a certain kind of Ent Guild. They don't actually put on shows, they provide other "services" and that is the extent of their Role Play. They come together to have an easily recognized tag to advertise these other "services" and this seems to be the only way they make money in the game on these chars.

All games have a race/class combo that people roll up just for this "service" - it's the hawt female toon combo. For SWG it happens to be Dancer/Twi or Human, but also Musician or ID andZab Females.

Now, showbiz leaning RP Ent Guilds also usually are primarily those race/prof combos. They have similar guild names. They also "perform", but when they say it, they mean they put on shows - not that they provide extra chat services for tips. Some have a bit of that, most have it only among themselves, few engage in this type of chat with the general public for tips.

So, these two different kinds look very much the same to the outsider, but are often at direct odds. I've never heard any from the first type complain about being confused for the second, but I've heard lots of the second complain about being confused with the first.

Just curious, how has this affected your willingness to join an Ent Guild (of the second type, I don't think we have a lot of posters of the first type)? For those of you in Ent Guilds of the second type, how often are you confused with the first type and how badly does it affect your game experience if at all?

I've already had one thread in here deleted today, so keep the responses PG please if you reply so I don't start looking like a hoolagin.

I would never join an "ent guild." I prefer diversity. I joined a "roleplay guild" -- with all sorts of profs in it, not just entertainers.

As for the types of guilds you refer to as the "first" type, I certainly would not join one, and I'd check to make sure I was not joining such a guild before hand.

As I mentioned in another thread, when my first guild, NDC, started supporting a guild AFK ent-bot, I quit immediately. I just walked out of the town cantina, pulled up my house, and left without another word. If I wouldn't put up with such things from a non-ent guild you can imagine my reaction to a "type 1" entertainer guild.
