Thread: Dancing macro needed
Can someone give me a dancing macro that will do flourishes and keep me dancing for 5 minutes?
addressed? is there something wrong with such a thing? I read the eula, and doing something WHILE the game is attended is fairly legit...
Replace addressed with 'answered'. Someone has already written a nice little guide to using macros and aliases so I won't write it all out again for you, just have a look at the boards. General concensus seems to be that short routines of your fave moves or sounds is ok, but no looping macros. That is certainly my personal view
Short aliases are very useful to free you up to chat with customers.
i DID a search for dance macros and all i get is you saying to do a search for macros ![]()
not very helpful

Ok, be honest.
How many of you thought that I was totally wrong when I stated that having that sticky was not going to stop people from starting new threads asking for macros?
Do I want to hear that I was right? No, not at all. I want someone to explain the psychology of this phenomenon to me.

Now some of those are AFK debates, which you really don't want, so try doing "NOT the words" AFK... But since almost every thread on macros is doomed to turn into an ATK/AFK debate, you might turn out with few or no hits.
A 5 minute macro is trivially easy to construct. It will vary with dance but I will use Popular (= popular2 also). Each flourish in popular lasts (roughly) 10-12 seconds. You can only do the flourishes one at a time, and in general they are hard and often inappropriate to "stack" without at least a few seconds of "base dance" in between (one "tick" worth is generally appropriate).
So the typical formula I use is... 1 tick of base dance, 1 flourish, 1 tick of base dance, 1 flourish...
Timing-wise, to get this to work, for popular only (it will vary with dance... for instance some of the lyrical flourishes last almost a half minute), you can do about 1 flourish per 16 seconds. That's about 4 a minute, x5 minutes = 20 total flourishes... if you want it to be exactly 5 minutes it'd be 19 flourishes, since the timing is 1 second off per flourish. This'd get you as close as possible while the dance still looks good, clocking in at 5:04.
You don't need to do a loop for this (and in fact shouldn't unless you want to watch for the right time to /dump it).
So what you want is something that looks like this:
/flo 1
/pause 16
/flo 2
/pause 16
/flo 2
/pause 16
/flo 1
/pause 16
...
/echo ** FIVE MINUTE POPULAR2 DANCE DONE **
... etc, for 19 flourishes, and 19 pauses. At the end I use /echo to tell me the dance is done. That's optional.
Normally when I do a "dance", I use one of the following formats:
x-y-z-x-y-z
x-y-y-x
x-y-y-x-y-y
where x, y, and z are any 3 flourishes that look good going together. So for example, I have one that combines popular's flourishes 2 and 3, which I like to do back-to-back, something like this:
F3-F2-F2-F3 (with 16 sec pauses in between of course).
You can repeat them also, so you might do X-Y-Y-X... 30 second pause... X-Y-Y-X... 30 second pause... etc.
Hopefully that'll get you started.

Just an FYI, the holo thread sticked at the top does not bring you to any thread that has a dancing macro.
The most I found from it was a half-written music macro on the entertainer boards. Considering the amount of posts where the word macro is used, searching for it is not helpful.
Perhaps if someone really stickied some macros at the top, then these posts would go away,
You are kidding right?
I am far from the brightest bulb on this forum (ok, stop with the AMENs) but even I, with a minimum of effort, can find more than enoughmacro information to do anything that I might ever want to do.
So spare me the intellectual dishonesty that new threads have to be started and old threads have to be necroposted.
If you choose to start new threads or necropost old ones, then at least be honest about why you are doing it.
Oh. My. God.
There are entire webpages dedicated to this. There have been countless posts on this and the other entertainer forums. This thread even has a person helpfully detailing how to write one. That thread at the top links to a thread where people HAVE listed places to look up macros. Type 'macro SWG' into Google and you'll get a whole host of pages that will help.
If the available information isn't enough to help someone write a macro, then they're either completely lazy and unwilling to learn how to write a simple macro, or they're a complete idiot. Either way, they'll going to fit in wonderfully with the rest of those moronic zombie entertainers polluting our cantinas.

This issue has been debated into the ground for years, from the text based muds to thefirst realOnlinegraphical games fromMeridian 59 and it still continues today. It's another way of thinking that typically follows the powergamer philosophy of I want it now and I don't want to have to work for it. These are the same guys who crank through the webpages grabbing the cheats for the games that they buy before they even get the game installed so they can play in God mode and brag on usenet or other messaging means and brag about their l33+ 5k1llz. It is never going to change because there will always be people who have to comment about this brand of posting and keep it bumped up until someone either finally answers it or it gets locked when the insults start to fly. Do yourself a huge favor, and do not continue down this stressful road. Relax, breathe deeply, and remember, that you can ignore these posts.
