Thread: Dancer for the love of being dancer?

how many people are dancers for the love of being a dancer? Everywhere I go I see AFK dancers or buff bots. I won't lie, I work 12 hour shifts and so, yes, I do afk dance to gain exp. But I do it in the privacy of my guild's cantina so that when I do get master dancer again (that in itself is a long story) I won't be associated with being some form of buff bot.

When I am at the keyboard, I usually head to Dant MO to grab healing exp because I only have 256MB RAM and Theed or Corellia would kill me. Unfortunatly, there are ALWAYS buff bots at these places and the majority of players just head straight over to them rather than spending a few extra minutes being healed by a novice dancer. I eat food to speed healing as well as wear a BE leotard and a BE lekku wrap, so it doesn't take THAT much longer to get healed by a beginner. I completely stumped as to why people prefer bots. And completely stumped as to why people make bots (yea, I know the main reason is money)

Just feeling ranty. Gods, dancer is a long road.

I do know the problem of people going to the AFK person first. I am a Master Dancer who willnever AFK. I sometimes buff at the MOP on Dantooine. I just advertise that I am non-AFK. I get many nice customers telling me how much they appreciate that I am non-AFK. I really do find such comments encouragingfor me tocontinue being a dancer (since March).

As a Master Dancer Emeritus, I can honestly say that I chose Dancer because I love to dance.

Well, my sig used to include "Dance is ALL" so I guess I could be counted in the "loves to dance" group.

Admittedly I chose dancing late, prefering musician, but I dance to dance. Actually, I entertain to entertain. I love entertainment despite all our problems and the things we would love to see fixed/changed....but I am certain I will continue regardless until it is pointless to do so. As long as I have one person who will watch me, I will entertain for the sake of it.

I remember way back in late May 2003, I got my email to help out with the beta test for the long-anticipated game Star Wars Galaxies. I ordered and got the discs, loaded and patched, and created my very first character, a Scout in Coronet. That little Bothan went absolutely EVERYWHERE. One night, I was messing around and decided to check out the local cantina, as I hadn't been to one yet.

I was enthralled. There was a small 3-piece band there and 2 dancers. I started listening and watching and was very impressed with what I was experiencing. I can distinctly remember one of the dancers holding a sword (this was before falls were introduced) and doing exotic and was just floored.

They wiped the server about 3 days later (for the final time), and when I recreated, Ospehi was born. She started in Coronet (I tend to stick with what I know ) and went from there to Kor Vella (which used to be busier than Coronet in those days), Moenia (there wasthis GREAT band there) and finally, Anchorhead (where all the cool dancers and musicians hung out )

I wasn't able to start playing on release, but when I got the game for Christmas, Danaea started as an Entertainer with the sole intent on becoming a Master Dancer and TK. Since then, with the exception of stints as a Bounty Hunter and Doctor, she has been dancing the whole time. And will remain so, until I decide to leave the game.

The entertainer profession is what drew me to SWG in the first place. I am a lifelong Star Wars fan, and would love to play a Star Wars MMORPG, but I already knew long ago that, as a medium for Star Wars roleplay, Galaxies REALLY sucks. So I kept to WEG, and didn't become intersted in SWG until I saw the Cantina Crawl videos.

Initially I was more interested in the social and healing aspects; I never gave much thought to performance. I was just looking for a MMORPG that didn't revolve around beating up group after group of MOBs all day. Now I find myself fiddling with flourishes to see which ones look good in sequence, or doing each flourish twenty times in a row to create a dance card. With a little more experience and confidence under my belt (and a good tailor!), I will start thinking about starting a performance group.

Its not so much the dancer for me, its the cantina, i 'did' love how they once where, sometimes they come close to old days now and then, but thats pretty rare now with spambots and afk dr0nes. I still love it, but i cant do it for very long at a time anymore unless i get a good group of people come in for mind healing or buffs, or the rare moment with a few non-afk entertainers to chat too

Well.. I didn't do dancer twice for the respect it gets me or for the sintilating game content. So it has to be love that drove me to such madness.

It wouldn't have been possible the second time though without the Ent chat channel.

I do.. or I would if I PvPed. But I use licking as a general form of communication , whether among my felow entertainers, or my hunting group, or Vader himself.

Anyways, I'm primarily a musician, but I've been slowly crawling up the dancer knowledge tree, and having fun with it, so when I dance, I dance for the love of dancing .
